O'Brien's Pub

We were in need of a nearby spot to grab some drinks after work and stumbled upon O'Brien's on Yelp.

Such a local's spot! Though small, the place was packed and the only tables available were outdoors. Thank goodness they had outdoor heaters!

Drinks....all beer and only beer here folks. But what a variety! Truth be told, I can't recall the first beer I had. The bartender said it was supposed to be like a Newcastle (my personal fav). It didn't really have that flavor profile but I enjoyed it nonetheless. My second beer was a holiday special--Gift of the Magi. With a name like that, I HAD to get it! It was both spicy and fruity...quite good.

But the surprise of the night---was the food!

I ordered the 3 Grilled Cheese Sammy (havarti, swiss and provolone) for $4.95. Easily the best grilled cheese I had in a long time! The bread was crunchy (thanks to tons of butter) and the combo of cheese was delish---just oozing out. And my personal fav of the night ----Beer Battered Fries with Garlic ($5.50). TOTALLY awesome if you are a French Fries Monster and Garlic fiend like myself. So good and although it cost more than my sandwich---completely worth it.

If you're looking for an adult beverage, GREAT---if you're a beer lover. Food---surprisingly yum. Over all, not a bad little find.

Y-U-M!!!!!

Stopped into La Puerta with my co-workers after a mtg at the Convention Center. We squeezed into a booth and were warmly greeted by the staff. Service throughout our entire lunch was helpful, attentive, and warm.

I ordered the Flautitas ($6) and a side of Rice ($2). Surprisingly, the Flautitas were a good portion size and delish! Super crunchy, flavorful, and piled high with Pico de Gallo and Cojita. DELISH!

My coworkers ordered an array of food (Tortilla soup, burritos, street tacos) and everyone really enjoyed their meals.

I was really pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and look forward to coming back on a Monday night when drinks and apps are 1/2 off all night!

Hilton Orange County

When two of my college girlfriends and I decided to get together for dinner and drinks to catch up, we knew we'd better book a hotel room. :) And since we had dinner reservations at Habana, the Hilton was our best bet (walking distance and all).

Our room was pretty average. The decor was somewhat outdated but it was clean. The beds aren't fab like the Marriott's but it served its purpose.

We took advantage of the hotel bar/lounge and although the guy staffing the bar was really nice, he was only covering for the regular bartender and was really slow. The other patrons were literally going behind the bar to refill their water, get utensils, etc.

Over all, for what you're paying for, this Hilton was average at best.

Roy's Restaurant

There's A LOT of nostalgia for me and Roy's. Had I written this review 5 years ago, I would have given it a 5! But when I came back with the family this past weekend, I found that things have slipped.

As for the food, nothing was really memorable--and we ordered quite a bit off of the menu. Ribeye steak, butter fish, ahi, appetizer sampler, short ribs.....It wasn't bad, just not great.

And in my previous visits (and we're talking at least 20+ times), service has been impeccable. But that night, our server seemed robotic and did not emit that warm spirit that I am used to. It took quite some time for our drinks to be served and when I inquired about them, I was given the impression that I had imposed on them. No bueno.

I am hoping we came on an "off" night because I've loved Roy's for so long. Probably would have given it 2 stars based on last Saturday's visit alone but I bumped it up a star based on their old track record.

Sadly, R Gang Eatery missed the mark.

I came in for brunch on Friday with one of my best friends who came into town. Luckily we weren't in a hurry and was ok w/ the quoted 20 min wait for a table. We went to the bar to grab a Bloody Mary and tried desperately to flag someone down to place our drink order. We weren't the only ones and when we saw many people leaving out of frustration, we should have got the clue. 15 minutes later, we finally placed our bloody mary orders. I got the Spicy Bloody Mary with a Meal on the Stick. My drink was tasty and I liked the Meal on the Stick---especially bc I was STARVING!

We were finally seated in the patio area 45 min later. It seemed like there was one 1 server for the entire space and although he was nice, it took a long time to get service.

We ordered:

- Buffalo Tater Tots: YUM. Best thing we ate the entire time
- Chicken and Waffle: Chicken was dry & under seasoned. Waffle was ok
- Cowboy Benny: Under seasoned and came out cold. BLEH!

We told our server that about our Cowboy Benny but told him not to bring out another bc we weren't up for the wait. Thankfully they ended up comping it when our bill came out--that was nice.

The drinks were good but over all, the food just didn't do it for me.

Binh Minh used to be a lot better.........

My fam grabbed lunch here over the weekend when my sis came into town and was craving some Bun Rieu Oc.

We ordered all the usual: Bun Rieu Oc, Banh Tom Co Ngu, Bun Thit Nuong, and Com Suon.

It all was, shall I say......Not My Fav.

We used to go to Vien Dong for those types of goodies but with the change in ownership over their, their food hasn't been so reliable and started coming here. Now that this spot has been taking a turn, guess we'll need to start making these goodies at home. Boo.

My bestie and I stumbled upon Cafe on Park when we were on the hunt for a tasty brunch. We weren't up for the 1.5+ hour wait that a well known brunch spot down the street quoted us and found Cafe on Park via Yelp. Great reviews and only a 20 minute wait? We were all over it!

We ordered the Crab Cake Benny (Grilled french bread topped with a crab cake, asparagus, and two basted eggs covered with chili hollandaise sauce) and the Captain Crunch & Blackberry pancake. The Benny was awesome. The crab cake had wonderful flavor and the hollandaise was perfect. As for the pancake, it was fun to order and try--but I'm not sure I'd order it again. However, I did like it more when I used some of their homemade blackberry jam to spread on top. Yummers.

Decor: Funky, urban, eclectic. Loved it.
Service: Quick, attentive, efficient.
Cost: Extremely well priced.

Would definitely come back.

Awesome spot for a quick lunch during the work week.

My coworkers had referred me to Mercury Grill and we headed over to grab some hotdogs and burgers one day for lunch. I ordered the Bacon Dog Combo (with fries and soda) for a little over 5 bucks---great deal!

Our orders came out really quick (even with our party of 8) and the service was quite friendly.

As for the food, my bacon dog was HUGE! It was piled high with Bacon, grilled onions, cheese, ketchup, and mustard. The hotdog had really great flavor and that wonderful "snap" from the casing. The fries were fresh out of the fryer but could have used a tad of salt.

Over all, great deal for a quick, yummy meal.

I love Mitsuwa markets....full of fresh seafood, yummy snacks, delish bentos, and all kinds of Nihon chotchkies.

Since this location is right around the corner from my work, I often swing by for lunch and to pick up some groceries. However, this particular Mitsuwa is a lot smaller than the other locations and often isn't fullly stocked. Nonetheless, I'm still a fan! :)

3.5 Stars.....if they added another stand or two in the food court or expanded the size of the market itself, I'll definitely bump up the stars.

Mr J's Cleaners

Dropped a few items to Mr J's since I got a coupon via the Penny Saver. Prices were pretty average for dry cleaners.

For years my family owned several dry cleaners so I'm pretty particular of how things should be done. My clothes came back in pretty fair condition, however, they advertise that their cleaning process doesn't leave a chemical scent. When I picked up my items, they smelled like they had just been to the dry cleaners---no difference at all. But dry cleaning is a chemical process so I'm not sure how they'd evade that.

The site is clean and bright and my clothes were done in a timely manner. As for service, it was pretty lackluster. The guy who took my order was curt and barely said 2 words to me.

Pretty average experience, over all.
