Wonderful wonderful food. Some of the best pasta dishes we've had in a long time and we live in a place with five italian restaurants within 2 miles of us on the beach up north. We also tried the Vigilucci's in Coronado and almost the one in La Jolla as well. It was that good.

Very good restaurant. Great food, good atmosphere. The only reason I didn't give West Steak and Seafood five stars is because it's apart of the West properties and West Inn was such a huge disappointment.

Disclaimers: This is my first bad hotel review ever. Maybe my first truly bad hotel trip in a long time.

Things they don't tell you before you stay at West Inn:
- Right next to the train... Runs all night... Blows horn all night....
- Rooms are FAR FROM SOUNDPROOF (with earplugs, still trains)
- Rooms don't have functioning blackout curtains
- Hotel is VERY kid friendly (a plus and a minus - no soundproofing)
- Beautiful views of HIGHWAY 5 and the POWER PLANT!
- Don't stay on the 2nd floor, because you can hear people above you

My wife has severe allergies and when we requested to have an additional synthetic comforter and pillows added to the room before we checked in, they instead just covered the down comforter with a synthetic one and then added an extra down one. This caused my wife's severe allergies to go crazy and a trip to the pharmacy for good antihistamines and then we found the second comforters under the synthetic one and tossed them all off... Unfortunately they are on the cheaper end and we ended up with down flaking in the air that didn't help her allergies either.

When I approached the hotel staff about the problems on two separate occasions: trains so loud that even with ear plugs we had a hard time getting any sleep, blackout curtains that don't black out as much as dim, and requested a room on the other side of the hotel (thinking this might make it better) we were told that we could have another King Suite on the same floor five rooms down on the same side. I was ultimately offered $10 off each night (after spending hundreds at the hotel's  Bistro West and West Steakhouse - two good parts of the trip).

If you stay in Carlsbad, don't stay here. I don't know where to recommend because we really liked the great reviews also but the truth is far from the average reviews. No room service either. Oh, and apparently the GM isn't reachable on weekends since I was told I could pick up her card and email her later about the trip or fill out a comment card.

We just returned from a wonderful weekend at Stevenswood. We stayed in the "Stickney" room that was quite nice on the ground floor with fireplace, couch, small table, and nice views of the grounds. The Inn itself is a very good Inn. We got in past check in hours and the staff were all very accommodating and very helpful. Our waiter actually got us the key to our room while we had a late dinner and we officially checked in the next morning. Things to note about Stevenswood: You can reserve a private jacuzzi tub for half hour to an hour at no additional charge which was quite nice. The owners and staff are very attentive and really wonderful people. The restaurant in the Inn is EXCEPTIONAL. This is not a Ritz Carlton nor does it have a Ritz Carlton price tag from a room standpoint. If you're looking for a Ritz, stay at the Ritz. :) This is an Inn, a very good Inn. It has all the normal perks of a greatly attentive and cozy environment with nicely equipped rooms and a wonderful staff. The bathrooms are missing a vanity or place to put things like toothbrushes, etc. The shower / tub in our room was a bit on the small side. The walls are fairly thin and you can hear the people above you walking, it's all true. The good news is that the experience, the friendliness of the staff, the beautiful surroundings, the AMAZING restaurant and wine list, make Stevenswood a great find. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Also, it is dog friendly. I would recommend an upstairs room which we'll try next time. Breakfasts were complimentary at the restaurant. If you haven't stayed at Stevenswood and are heading to Mendacino for a weekend or a week off, stay there and you won't be disappointed. The temperpedic beds are really very nice as were the linens. The staff was even nice enough to arrange a picnic basket to go for us that included sandwiches, freshly dipped chocolate strawberries, a bottle of wine, and some nuts. It was a really nice package to go on an adventure with. Thank you Stevenswood! See you next time.

Excellent service, amazing Navio restaurant, and incredible views and wine bar. The EXTREMELY attentive staff takes care of your every need and you constantly feel pampered but not stalked. Very very nice room and grounds. Try to get a ground floor suite with a fire pit. Very nice at night falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves crashing.

Exceptional restaurant. Very very nice and attentive staff, very good quality food. Breakfast; the Tuscan scramble was very good. One disappointing part is that the French Press is only a French Press at night. In the morning it's a standard drip coffee in a French Press container. It looks pretty but doesn't have that great French Press taste. The OJ tasted store bought instead of fresh squeezed which was also disappointing. Dinner though was 5 stars! We ate there two nights in a row and loved it. The specials seem to change but the heirloom tomato appetizer was phenomenal as was the tenderloin. Great wine list. FYI - If you are staying at the Inn, buy the wine in room and pay the corkage... Less expensive, many of the same great wines.

Great food. Voted best breakfast on the coast for years in a row. As a Half Moon Bay local, it's one of the only spots I'd head to for breakfast. Don't miss the incredible crab cake benedict!

Ask for Mark, one of the owners, and call him  "CUPCAKE" he will give you a BIG discount. CUPCAKE was his call sign.

Awesome. I took in a Cashmere sport coat, a suit, a suede jacket, and a felt sport coat. My cashmere sport coat was really looking run down. When the professionals at Lien brought my coat out, I was blown away. magic. Like brand new! The same was true for my felt sport coat which I was actually thinking would never be the same. The suede jacket is ready for pick up but I haven't gone and picked it up yet. Maybe today. I'll bet it's equally great. Service is FIVE STAR. Quality and Speed that they work at is insane. This is the best dry cleaning on planet earth. I drove from Santana Row to get there and it was well worth the drive!
