Yum. Matcha tea ice cream? One scoop in a bowl is two bucks. Horchata and chocolate orange. Oh yeah. Way way cheaper than Molly Moon without the huge lines.
Wish they had not set up the speakers outside of the store. It was enough to make the TH go back to the car and wait for her cone. Oh yeh, it would get five stars if they served the average sugar cone. I am not a waffle cone fan. I would even go for the standard styrofoam cone over the waffle cone option.
Looking forward to my next visit, say in about six hours.

Meadowbrook Farmer's Market
Categories: Farmers Market, Local Flavor
Neighborhood: Meadowbrook
Plusses: Tamales, Poco Caretto (SWOON), room to move and DOGS are allowed,no long lines of foodies discussing with each vendor the provenance of their butternut squash and the pH of the soil in which it was birthed
Minus: needs more vendors, but that will happen with time and getting there, hard if you are not familiar with that little hamlet of the 98115
This is truly a community sponsored and much needed market for the area. The growing season is starting and soon there will be a plethora of produce for you to chose from. I'm sure the Market managers will be happy to take your suggestions of the type of vendors you would like to see represented here.

Having said that, the bar is okay and I'm sure that on game day or parent's weekend this place is wild.
I hate b&bs for their forced gaiety and need to potpourri every stinking room. Oh yeah, Victorian dolls. I cannot abide by that gack. I was very skeptical about this place when we booked. I like the anonymity of a resort, my suite upgrades and my 500 point amenities, yo.
So, we plunged, mostly because I had a nice convo with Kenny, the innkeeper.
I was really really nauseated from the flight, the drive and the getting up before the COD to catch said flight. I managed to climb out of the car, make it up the stairs and be greeted by Kenny and Kilohana and given the ten cent tour before I collapsed on the very comfortable bed.
They were so sweet while I felt so vile. The rooms are amazing, huge, nicely furnished and with balconies. The house is lovely, comfortable and not overstuffed like you see in other b&bs.
Our three days there were amazing. The room was very comfortable, as stated above, the bathrooms were huge with rainwater (literally) showers and plenty of towels. TH was happy to see bathrobes as well, which is quite important to her rating of hotels/inns/resorts.
The breakfasts were delicious and focused on locally grown foods. Mangoes, papaya, bananas, eggs and tons of Kona coffee. Great bread from a local baker as well. They very much emphasize community, without being obnoxious about it.
As for the whole having to be nice to people thing -- the other guests were delightful and we had some really excellent conversations.
As circumstances would have it, we would return to Kalaekilohana for our last night as our b&b we had originally booked had a reservation problem. Instead of spending the night somewhere we hadn't really wanted to, nor were keen to experience, we were able to get into the last room. To be welcomed back with I believe great sincerity was the most amazing part of the whole stay.
We have already booked our plane tickets for December and hope that they have room for us at the inn.

Excellent pricing for maintenance packages -- very good for rigidly over scheduled peeps like me.

I have seen a line up of coach toting ugg wearing iphone yielding tweens slapping down ten bucks for a smoothie and getting a wee bit of change.
I love the green tea flavor, but it should be pure. Gummy bears and oreos should not sully its antiseptic colored smoothness.
Surly service, but I'm hard to please.

I'm over 40 and not a size 4 anymore, so clearly I am invisible to anyone who works at H&M. Oh wait, never mind, even if you are 16 with daddy's charge card and you are the only one in the store the 18 sales assistants will totally ignore you, so don't lose sleep over it.
Cheap, cheerful and expect it to last one season.
Once you have those lowered expectations you will be fine.
I love our Willards guys. Yes, he knows his stuff and can think like a rat. We were having an issue and Mark, the guy who came out figured out where the little rat b*stards were coming in and made sure that it was now impenetrable.
Later, we had another issue -- roof entry. He walked into our house and noticed that we no longer had a dog or cat. He spent over two hours figuring out where the perpetrator entered and determined where he might be hanging and voila, the next morning we had the culprit.
Yes, they are not cheap, but they are awesome.
They still come by every few months to bait our outdoor feeding stations, well worth it.
Srsly.
Food hall is great and one of the best WH Smiths in the capitol are located here.
Expensive as all get out -- but so worth looking.

To me, a company called Seattle Tree Preservation who will happily cut down a mature tree without offering the client the option to thin or remove dangerous limbs should consider a renaming.
When I called to express my concern, I received a long berating by the owner about how the tree removal was fine, that I should plant another tree (Where?) and perhaps I had deeper issues than losing a major tree in our neighborhood. WTF?
No John, its all about the tree. No need for therapy, just a need for a responsible tree stewardship.
So, unless you wish to be psychoanalyzed and yelled at at 8:45 on a Saturday morning, I would highly recommend using a different tree "preservation" company. Consult Tree Amnesty for a list of recommended arborists.
