Air conditioner smelled like a wet dog when it kicked on.  Seeing the water in your bath tub shoot out rust every time you turn it on just kind of ruins the idea that you are about to clean yourself.  No free breakfast offered and what you do pay for was pretty meh.  Wi-Fi worked fine.

My go-to barbershop these days.  They are never empty when I go in, but I have also never waited very long.  I have had my hair cut by three different barbers, and all do an excellent job.  Multiple TVs tuned to ESPN.  Large chalkboard with football schedules or a March Madness bracket on it.  Pool table.  Toys for kids.

A friend mentioned this place in passing once, and we decided to check it out after nothing else jumped out at us.  I was a little worried at first.  We went in late afternoon on a Sunday and the place wasn't the cleanest.  When we went to order, they said the main component of my sandwich was out because they would be closing soon...kind of felt bad but also never saw hours posted.  My sandwich (Kenbo) actually turned out to be completely awesome with their roast.  The wife and kid both enjoyed their meatball sub and grilled cheese.  The staff, which I'm guessing was a family, was super nice.  Overall cool concept to spice up the run of the mill sandwich shop.

While I really enjoy Glace, this space is awful.  When it was Mochi-Yo, it did not seem as bad since they used bright colors to liven it up.  It just seems darker with Glace's color scheme...colder maybe.  Neither location is a short drive from our house, so we'll probably keep going to the original shop.

Nice little barbecue shop that just opened in Riverside.  It is take-out only, which I was not expecting.  Went with a pulled pork sandwich and some beans.  I really like that they call out pulled pork as their specialty so new customers can get right to the good stuff.  The pulled pork was great...had a nice smoke to it.  Enjoyed their hot barbecue sauce on it.  Beans tasted pretty ketchup-y to me.  I tried mixing some of the sauce into those, but that did not do much to improve the flavor.

The $9 price on the sandwich/side/pickle/drink is decent for a barbecue place, but I am not sure any of the sides are worth it.  If you are also taking your meal to eat somewhere other than your car, you probably do not need a drink.  Place is clean and there are benches to sit on while you wait...there was probably a better spot for the front door other than next to the counter though.  I will definitely be back to try the other meats.

Been here twice now and just feel like I have to give them 2 stars.  I love where they are taking the concept of this restaurant, but I am completely unimpressed with their execution so far.

My first visit, I ordered a chicken torta and a custard.  I was given two plastic numbers, one for each item.  Received my torta first.  Not an actual torta.  It reminds me more of a panini.  Beans overpower the flavor of anything else.  Got my custard, which was nice and melted.  Maybe the number system isn't the best idea?

Took the family on my second visit.  Number system has been replaced by pagers...good call.  We ordered three different tacos, a different torta, and some chips.  Got informed that my torta comes with a salad, which it did not last time.  Salad is actually bigger than the torta when it comes out...nice job guys.  Went with a steak torta this time, it's missing the beans even though I did not ask for them to be removed.  No beans actually makes it taste worse.  I can never eat a torta here again.  Barking Pig taco is decent but entirely too sweet.  BFF taco is interesting, but like my first torta attempt, completely overpowered by the beans.  Can't remember the third taco.  Wife wasn't a fan of the salad, but said the ingredients were fresh.  The chips proved to be the best thing we ordered.  It's a mix of different kinds of chips (mostly tortilla) and you get to pick two sauces from a list of 10 or more.

It just seems like they are trying to do too much with the flavors on everything.  People like street food because it is fast and simple flavors that taste good together.  I also feel like I should get some semblance of spicy heat eating these types of dishes, and I don't...at all.  Cool concept, crap execution.

Place is designed and functions almost identical to a Chipotle.  I ordered one of their unique bowl items, which consisted of a base of fried potato wedges, sweet pepper and onions, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, sausage, cheese and topped with onion straws.  I was worried it was going to be a lot to take in, but I actually had to drown it with sauce twice to get through it.

The brisket was tender, good rub flavor, chopped in cubes...probably the only meat I'd eat by itself if I went back.  Chicken was really dry and not enjoyable to eat.  Pulled pork was marginal.  The sausage was interesting because it pretty much tasted like Italian sausage, which I did not expect.  I guess it makes sense in a barbecue place serving onions and peppers.

Wife got a Carolina-style sandwich, said she likes the other place's more.  Beans were decent, although I am not big on kidney beans.  Kid ate a hot dog and fries.  If you are going to advertise free kid meals in line and at the dining table, you might want to make sure your employees actually know to give the discount.

I have definitely eaten worse barbecue in KC, but I cannot say I will be rushing back to the Rub.  I think they choose a wise, under-served location and should do fine for themselves.

I came to this place because people said they had good hot dogs, and I knew they are one of the few places in KC with an awesome health code rating.

Much bigger space than I ever would have imagined.  Decor is bright...clowns and shit.  Looks clean and either well maintained or under-used.  Went on a Thursday at noon and only saw one other customer.  Friendly staff ready to take our order...more staff than customers.  I got a Chicago dog and a Sonora dog.  The only reason I really even gave this place a try was for the Sonora dog.

A lot of previous reviewers complained about the wait, which was fairly substantial.  But hey, they are truly cooking these things to order.  Call me crazy, but I like knowing my hot dog wrapped in bacon is being cooked to a level that enabled me to sit here and write this review while not on a toilet.  You want a fast hot dog?  The QuikTrip next door has had some rolling for an hour ready for your consumption.

The dog's themselves are too girthy.  Add on that the mound of toppings, and what you're left with is a bun that never stood a chance.  The Chicago was all right, I've had plenty better around KC.  The Sonora needs to be toned down.  All I can really remember is the taste of the cheese crumbles it was coated in.  I choose to get mine without the chipotle mayo, which was wise since my buddy's dog went all bukkake on him after the first bite.  I'm a big proponent of toppings restraint, and this place could use it.

Would I go back?  Sure.  Will I go back?  Probably not.

Indoor seating + Mac'n'Cheese Dog = 5 stars.  There's just something about some 3-cheese mac and bacon on top of a snappy hot dog seated in a pretzel bun.  I'm cheesing on my dog just thinking about it.

Quality dogs.  I stopped in today after finding out they were able to re-open despite a current legal dispute.

There is a menu board out front along with one on the wall when you walk inside.  I grabbed a Chi-Town Dog and a Border Dog after deciding to skip on the sides.  Dogs were prepared super fast and visually looked awesome.  As for taste, the Chicago dog was hit and miss.  Not being a fan of spicy mustard or red onions, both of those kind of put me off.  I did enjoy the strips of pickle and halved grape tomatoes though.  It's a solid dog, just with some different flavors than just about anywhere else you get a Chicago dog in KC.  My Border dog was awesome.  The flavors of the spicy beef was complimented by the cool avocado/bacon aoili and fresh pico.  It seemed to be missing the queso fresco but was still dynamite all around.  The dogs themselves had good snap to them and the buns...sweet lord, the buns.

Only outside seating is currently available, which I would hope changes as we approach the cold winter months.  Prices seem a bit high for a hot dog, but I think most of that is the quality of ingredients you're getting, and you can still get away spending $10 or less.

Great liquor store.  Very diverse beer section that rotates well with the seasonal offerings.  Staff has always been super helpful and knowledgeable.  If the person I'm talking to doesn't know the answer to my question, they usually go directly to the person who does.  I've been numerous times when they keep the "good stuff" in the back where you can't find it, so be sure to talk to the staff if you're looking for something.  The last time I went in, I asked for one thing and the guy brought it to me along with something else I wanted but completely blanked on asking for...it doesn't get much better than that.

The space is quite cramped, but it's worth putting up with for the level of service and the decent pricing.  I've heard that they will be moving across the street soon so their building can be knocked down and rebuilt to better serve their needs.  That change would easily make them the best liquor store in town IMO.
