We arrived for an hour long shopping adventure in Kandersteg before visiting KISC for lunch and a downpour occurred.  Conveniently, this medium-sized cafe was located on a corner and we went in to procure warm beverages.  May in Switzerland equals fog-mist-rain.  Cocoas all around, along with two pieces of chocolate cake for some of our friends, and we were a happy group.  They did not have a problem accomodating our group of 8 or 9, we sat on two cozy couches.  May is also the time when a lot of Swiss folks go out of town, so it was none too busy.  Cocoas usually set us back somewhere between 3-4 francs, plus or minus, perfectly reasonable.

Only thing to note, they were out of soy milk for our dairy free friend.  Alas.

My party and I did not stay at the hotel, though we rode the cable car to the top of the alp and ate at the restaurant.  We had just gone a 3 hr hike from Adelboden to Einstligen waterfall, very highly recommended btw.  If you were to do the hike, it might not take as long as we were a group of 20, plus or minus.
They have the most amazing cocoa up here.  It is steamed milk and this powdered (I know, right?) cocoa mix, the mix name started with a c I think...  Anyways, if you are not watching your diet or just went on a 3 hr hike or are cold after a ski, get the cocoa and an order of french fries.  The fries smelled like curry and had this amazing seasoning, served with mayo and ketchup, it was a bit confusing to me.  There was still snow up atop Einstligen alp in mid May and a few folks were cross country skiing.  Awesome!

Sadly, one can smoke inside so it stinks a bit.  However, as you drink it begins to bother you less and less.  If you want a white wine spritzer, it is a weiss wien gespritz auf deutsch, or a small beer is a klein bier.  The wine spritzer was about 6 sf or chf, while the small beer ran about 3.5 sf.  Not too bad.  Small place, but a lively atmosphere.  The friends I was with had to ask another table about what they were drinking and lighting on fire, it was some sort of snapps and espresso drink.  Fascinating.  A good time was had by all.

Cheesy quiche, check.  Overpriced apple juice, check.  All was delicious and it fortified me to find my bus to france for the night.  Of course, I got lost, but all was not amiss because I eventually found where I was going.  Ferney-Voltaire is quite cute, I recommend it for a nights stay.  Try and stop by the supermarket in france for a little cheaper eats than in switzerland, though try to have euros, I am not aware if they take swiss francs, though anythings possible, I guess.

The public entrance is about 500 meters up the hill, check a guidebook or the internet for current tour times-info about what hours the tours are running.  I was here in late April 2012 and went for a 2pm (14hr, to these europeans) tour.  The tour of the UN offices-buildings in Geneva lasts about an hr.  It includes history, sightseeing, nice view of lake Geneva, UN parklands-palais des nations, and on some days, Mont Blanc.  Now, the tour costs 12 SF-CHF, sort pricey, but thats the way with everything in Switzerland and if you are a model un alum like moi, or just interested in all things Geneva, or history, I would definitely recommend a visit.  Salut!

Also of note, the Red Cross-Red Crescent is just across the way, but their museum is closed for remodeling or installation of new exhibits until 2013, quelle bummer.  Just an fyi there.

A people watchers delight, thats for sure.    Highlights being the Nuts on Clark retail outpost or hole in the wall, I dare you to try and walk past the scent of buttery popcorn.  Trust me, it cannot be done, or else thatd be way difficult.
I also dug the wine bar, bubbles because there was a guy playing a grand piano for entertainment.  I recognized, say a little prayer for you, selections from phantom, and house of the rising sun, pretty awesome.  The wine bar was in the international terminal somewhere around or between H and K.  I survived my flights, always a plus, I dont like to fly but I couldnt live without travelling.  Theres always a payoff, eh?

Update - 4/23/2012
I've been back a few times since my visit last year.  Even though my family & I do seem to visit when the bowling tournaments are on, Sunday mornings are a great time to go.  Trust me on this.  1.95 per game, plus the price of shoes (unless, perchance, you have your own).  That deal is only valid from 9-11am (skip church, sorry)...  I'm reluctant to share, but it's just such a good deal.

They really push the beverages & food, but I get it, I do.  Now, you should go and bowl.  Also, should you experience technology snafus, just ask the people at front desk to help or find a regular and they'll help you.

This review is only for the bowling & games area, didn't try the bumper cars or lazer tag on this visit.

They have galactic/ glow-in-the dark bowling starting around 9pm on Friday nights.  It's pretty fun, I liked the music & atmosphere alright.  We didn't try any food either, but the waitstaff probably would have liked us too.  Right after we sat down they asked if we wanted anything.  I appreciate that they only asked once though, I suppose if you change your mind you could flag them down.

Only lame thing re. the bowling, our computer developed a glitch with the lane about halfway through, we probably could've asked them to fix it but we don't like confrontation. It was no big deal we aren't hardcore about scores, if it's not in the gutter it's a good play.

In the games area they have a variety of games, go figure huh.  Anyways, they had the ones I enjoy which are skee ball, ddr, and guitar hero.  I tried to play the guitar left-handed which was a mistake on my part, but other than that the games were fun.

Visited this site during the summer of 2003, we were on an 8 week road-trip odyssey, up from Southern C.A., to Montana, Michigan, and then through most of the Maritimes (excluding NFL) and back through New England.  Radical.
Anyways, I am with the other reviewers, should you be a fan of the books, author (L.M. Montgomery), or the films of 'Anne of Green Gables' et al.  You'd enjoy a visit here should you happen to find yourself on Prince Edward Island.  Apparently, they are also known for potatoes...  Cute little tour here and different stuff, gift shop etc.  Definitely stop by.

We went here for the last film in the Bay Film Series series.  A friend wanted to take their new car for a drive and they had extra tickets.  I believe the series focuses on either award winning films, nominees, foreign et al.  The one we saw was called 'Monsieur Lazhar' and it was from Montreal, Quebec.  It was a really good movie.  The venue is pretty good too.  No upstairs balcony seating, just the projectionist up there.  Our friends told us beforehand about the funky seat-cupholder things, but they were not too much of an inconvenience.

The theater was pretty busy for a Monday night, we were led to believe this film series is pretty popular.  Check their website, but our friends told us that the series runs fall & winter (Sept- March/April) or so.  If you get a membership to the series the tickets are a reduced price of 5$ per ticket, again that's what we were told.  If you are in Sutton's Bay, or even if you aren't, this throwback is worth a visit.  Decent popcorn too.
