Chalet Luise Inn

This family owned B&B is quite an enjoyable place.

+ VERY friendly owners.
+ Rooms have a very cozy "home away from home" feeling.
+ Breakfasts are great, and include a custom cooked dish and delicious fresh bread.
+ Free parking.
+ Free wifi.
+ Plenty of *evening* parking in the village available for free/cheap.
+ Don't forget a swimsuit for the hot tub.

~ Even though it's not "in the village" you can easily drive to the free parking lots in just 3-4 minutes and be off and skiing/snowboarding in minutes.
~ No TV, but not needed for us.

- Milk was weird (not 1%, 2%, nor whole milk)
- There were a few things in the room that didn't work quite right (shower head comes out, fireplace didn't start) but we didn't care because the rest was great.

We were recommended by the B&B we stayed at to try this place, where apparently the locals prefer to eat.

+ Pasta is fresh and delicious.
+ Prices are very good for Whistler
+ Simple, casual environment

~ If you come late in the evening several of their pasta options could be out already. We had a limited selection to choose from, but we still had a great meal anyway.
~ Small interior, so could get packed quickly

Splitz Grill

+ Good price compared to other food options.
+ HUGE portions.
+ Splitz sauce is great for fries.
+ LOTS of options for burgers: meats, sauces, toppings. You're sure to find something you can eat.

- Awkward and slow wait in line waiting for your turn for the burgers while the rest of the party claims a table in the busy restaurant, and then has to jump back in line to yell (yes yell because it's a bit loud) what toppings they want on the burger.

The fondu was too expensive for us to consider, but we did decide to come back for dessert one night.

+ The dessert crepe we ordered was absolutely delicious! We got a chocolate strawberry crepe with all the trimmings, and it was so good that we were planning to come back another night for dessert again, but that didn't quite work out.

~ Small interior, so you may be waiting if it's a busy night.

Elements Urban Tapas

I had never had tapas before, so this was a pretty good way to start.

+ Menu options are delicious. Seriously, delicious. You will share them with anyone you're with because they're great.

~ Place can definitely get crowded/busy. We had a small table in the back.

- Dishes are small and expensive. Yes, apparently that's how tapas works, but the food:price ratio was pretty low. And the restaurant isn't even on the "main street" in Whistler village, but it's still pricy. The restaurant seemed to be filled with "rich, dressed up" people instead of commoners.

BBQ Bob's

Instead of trying to find expensive BBQ in the Whistler Village, we ventured south a few minutes to try to find something more budget friendly.

+ BALSAMIC REDUCTION FRIES WERE AMAZING!
+ BBQ sauce was good
+ A Rib & Chicken breast combo was enough to split and get full on for two people.

~ Coleslaw was ok, nothing great.
~ On the side of a pub, and not as it's own restaurant.

- The ribs were definitely few in number.

Although it is a chain tea store, the tea was reasonable and good.

+ Lots of varieties
+ No pressure to buy expensive teas (unlike Teavana in the US)
+ Unique blends of teas
+ Yummy tea after snowboarding is awesome. :)

~ Not sure if the prices were higher because it is in Whistler

+ A tea house in a Chinese garden is pretty cool.

- Prices were expensive.
- It seemed like one big advertisement for "Tao of Tea". Yes, they are the company that put the tea shop in, but a counter full of their tea for sale screams "commercial moneymaker" in the garden.

Lan Su Chinese Garden

+ Great relaxing garden
+ Nice architecture

~ Decent price

- This is the second eastern garden I've been to, so the special "ohh, aww" of a first timer was already used up. I previously went to a Japanese garden, and this one seemed very similar. The Lan Su garden is nice, however the tour guide made the garden seem like a really "magical place" that seemed to make a bigger deal out of the garden than it really is.
- Urban sights and sounds are easily noticed from the garden, which sometimes kills the mood.

This review is for the Christmas festival of lights. It was pretty enjoyable and I had a good time there.

+ The lights were nice.
+ The choir that was singing was more enjoyable than the lights.
+ Live animals - which really would have been present in a manger birth.

- The gift shop.
