I hate to be "that guy." No, not the guy who wears the P-Funk t-shirt to the P-Funk concert, but the only guy to give a lukewarm review amidst a hotpot of love.
But, you know, I'll go back...eventually. Hopefully their dishes (tom yum, especially) will be a bit more redolent of their name next time.
That is all.

OMG, IMO, WTP is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Kailua.
I haven't tried the pho yet [wha...?], but the tofu summer rolls are awesome. The wrapper is soft and tender, the filling is plentiful and herbacious, and the sauce is silky and flavorful. Their BBQ pork chops, lemongrass calamari, and crispy noodle are also nicely done. The only tiny "what-the-pho" [sorry, I couldn't help myself] for me is that their bo kho dosen't come with the garnish plate like at most other places. The stew is rich and beefy, but I felt that the flavor wasn't complete without the fragrance of the sweet basil. You also have to order tendon as a side if you want it inside, but it's definitely worth the small charge.
The service is good, if a bit slow, but very friendly and accomodating. As soon as the weather cools down a bit, I know I'll be coming here often for their apparently unbelievable namesake. I hope we have a cold winter...
