Blue Bananas Café
Category: Caribbean
Neighborhood: Society Hill
I held a fashion show/dinner here with a large group of high school students and their parents. Everyone at Blue Bananas was extremely gracious and helped us every step of the way. The process was simple, the food was delicious, and all were pleased.
They bent over backward in allowing us to modify the space, control the sound, and even use the area next door as a changing room. This was a once in a lifetime memorable event for our students, and I am indebted to Blue Bananas for helping to make it a reality.
Eat here and support a business that is doing the right thing. (Plus the mac and cheese will make you slap ya granny.)

Plus four stars for being practically perfect in every other day. If you are lucky, you may even get to have a delicious breakfast taco from the taco truck that frequents the market. If you are lucky.
Well, guess what!
Fitness Works has boxing! I have been searching online for about a week for a place that has beginner boxing lessons that don't cost an arm and a leg, and I am thrilled to have found Fitness Works.
I had not planned on switching gyms, but I get a 50' pool, BOXING, and way more classes than I got at Bally's. Plus the people here were nice and way more laid back than the high pressure sales people at Bally's. To add to the coolness factor, they even have a book lending library next to the cardio equipment. C'mon, how sweet. You get a lot more for the $10 difference. (Right now the cost is $45 a month with no contract if you do direct deposit.)
By the way, this place is near the 64 bus if you're bussin' it.

Naked Chocolate Cafe
Category: Desserts
Neighborhoods: Rittenhouse Square, Penn Center
Naked Chocolate Cafe is sinfully well-named, as the desserts are decadent and there is an abundance of chocolate. I admittedly did not have any chocolate, but did enjoy a superb vanilla cupcake and a salad that left me scraping the bottom with my fork.
I saw other people order various chocolatey and whipped creamy desserts and I was eating my meal while planning future trips to Naked Chocolate.
An added bonus are the comfy places to sit, the piano (not in use at the time, but nice for ambiance), and the outdoor area during the summer.
Five stars. Definitely.

This is a great date spot with fun drinks and some truly tasty food. The bbq chicken pizza is especially good. They also have something similar to bruschetta (or maybe it was bruschetta)... and it was divine.
I think it was somewhat pricey, but I'm not sure. Love being a girl, lol.

Come here if you want to eat while singing and watching others sing. Go somewhere else if you just want good Ethiopian food.
This place isn't the worst, but it's just not as good as the other options within walking distance. Das dat good ole American com-per-tition. Yee haw. Lol.
The chef was loud and ghetto and, considering that she was the only person in the kitchen, we were more than a little concerned that while we waited for our food she was chatting with people at the bar.
Miraculously, as if she'd spent years honing her ability to chat with customers while allowing the PERFECT soul food dinner to simmer, she served our food quickly and it was DE-FRIGGEN-LICIOUS.
I mean, for real y'all--it was good. We both ate every last drop from our plates. Together we ate: fried whiting, greens, mac and cheese, yams, and a slice of white bread. The price was reasonable (I think under ten bucks each... but he paid and I forget). Don't expect fancy... the food is served in styrofoam whether you are staying or leaving.
I would recommend this to anyone, and am so happy that it is right up the street from my house! Oh, and the place is primarily a pretty decent looking bar with the game playing on several screens. I can't attest to the cost of drinks.

For everyone interested in seeing slave labor live, take a trip over to Styles for Less. Don't miss out on the disposable clothing either, guaranteed to shrink, tear, or fade in one wash. I used to work here and even for the price the crap here is well...crap. I only suggest shopping here if you plan to wear the item for one night only. And whatever you do, DO NOT GET A JOB at Styles for Less. The pay stinks. The hours stink.
Date
We both had the spinach and feta omelet. The omelet was light, fluffy, and practically perfect. Yum. The home fries were made from potato rounds and the fresh squeezed orange juice was... well what can you say badly about fresh squeezed orange juice?
The waitress was courteous, checked on us several times, and brought me a dish of hot sauce on request. The prices were modest for such a picture perfect experience, all together about 13 dollars per person.
Four stars not because of this trip, but because during the evening Continental can be unnecessarily pricey.
