I'm a paper and pen addict. I know that sounds weird, but I love, love, love blank books, notecards, stationary, and all other types of papergoods imaginable. Not to mention my insatiable need to try out and buy all sorts of pens and other writing gear.
Personalize It has more stationary than journals, but the things they have are high quality and very pretty. The woman who was at the store yesterday was helpful and friendly. Even though she was the only person working there and she was helping someone with bridal invitations, she made sure I had friendly service and felt welcomed.
This place is beautiful, functional, and just plain awesome. The flowers and paths are lovely, the grass is green and lush, and there's a play area for kids. There's plenty of room and tables for picnicking, and there's also the shoreline that's worth a visit.
When we visited, it was peaceful and relaxing. Next time I go to Pt. T, I'll be sure to pick up something for lunch from nearby Aldrich Market and then have a water-front lunch at the park!
They have a wide variety of beautiful breads to pick from, and they all look and smell amazing. For a snack, try one of their cookies or cheese sticks. We had an almond cookie that was sweet, soft, and very satisfying. I don't usually like cheese sticks, but theirs were crave-worthy.
Can't wait to go back to try more of their breads!
The service is attentive and the food is nothing fancy but pretty good. And, even better, they're consistent. I've been here about 3 times over the course of several years, and every time the experience is pleasant.

Ernie's Games
Categories: Toy Stores, Hobby Shops
So--my husband and I were playing a game of Carcassonne. We were getting to the end of the game so almost all of our tiles were in place. The phone rang, and I went to see who was calling. I came back to the table and bumped my very full glass of water. Said water splashed over the entire game, soaking 75% of the cardboard tiles. The hubby and I sprang into action and tried to mitigate the damage, but it was too late: our much-loved game of Carcassonne was destroyed.
But all was not lost! We zipped down to Ernie's and replaced our beloved game. Ernie's to the rescue.
Apart from that, here's what I like about Ernie's:
1) they're independent
2) they're extraordinarily helpful, kind, and patient
3) they have a well designed store
4) they're open super late thanks to the guys who play WOW there
5) they have almost everything my husband needs to get his geek on
6) they take discover
If you like games, miniatures, or other nerdy stuff, Ernie's is the place to go. They rock!

Seabrook Cottage Rentals
Category: Guest Houses
I am kind of a snob--I don't believe in camping and I don't like staying in run-down beach houses with wood paneling and shag carpet. Seabrook offers so many houses, each one well appointed, spiffy, new, comfortable, attractive, and functional.
Seabrook is a planned town with walking trails, parks, and nice looking houses. It is in stark contrast to the somewhat shabby nearby town of Pacific Beach. There are wooded trails down to the beach and a small cafe. The staff is helpful and attentive.
There's not a whole lot nearby, which is part of Seabrook's charm. Ocean Shores is about 20 mins. away, but if you just want to rent a house with your friends/family and chill out at the beach, this is an excellent option.

Service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is pleasant and we didn't feel rushed, so my mom and I had plenty of time to solve the world's problems from our table.
Big bonus points for having awesome Japanese hand dryers in the bathroom. I love those things!
Get a pre-paid card and you'll end up getting free beverages after you buy 10 drinks. Nice!
Date
1) they're new & busy, and they sometimes run out of stuff
2) they're a bit pricey
3) you can call in your order ahead of time
4) they're on facebook & Twitter where they have deal. Plus they have a frequent buyer type of thing you can ask about
Ok, now that THAT is out of the way, let me tell you about the donuts. They rock!
They have real, honest to goodness French crullers. The kind that are light & a bit gooey in the middle. Their red velvets are amazing. You can tell they use high quality ingredients because the quality of their end products is incredible.
Try 'em...you'll like 'em.
