Twisted Vine is a great spot. I enjoy coming here b/c the atmosphere is great, the food is tasty, there's a lot of selection for both beer and wine and the staff is always very helpful and friendly. If you want to get away from the bar scene for a night, this is a great place to go, especially for the older crowd (30+).

Tantalum Restaurant
Category: American (New)
Tantalum is a good place for drinks and appetizers. I don't prefer to go for a full meal. The decor is really nice and the bar is sweet. It sits low at water level and during the late afternoon/early evening, it's nice to look at the 180 degree view of the water. It's weird how it's cornered in a strip mall, but once you walk in, you realize it's a nice spot on the water.
Mahe is an excellent place to go for good food and a good vibe. This is a great place for a date, or with a group of friends. The atmosphere is lively and the bar area is separated in the back, so you have the option of a bar or restaurant setting.
The fish is really fresh. There are some amazing sushi options and rolls. I can always judge good, fresh fish from a piece of salmon sashimi and and theirs melted like butter in my mouth. I recommend checking it out

Yucatan is bomb! Every time my brother comes into town, we be sure to come here. I go myself too often. Go with the "You call it" burritos. Put anything you want on there. I get mine with Mahi Mahi usually. We'll also grab a pitcher or two to go along with it.
I've been for breakfast one time too and it was excellent. Had the huevos rancheros. I think I may go tonight actually.

Good for summer weekends and Sunday Fundays. This is a chill place on 2nd St. that's a good place to go to get your night started with friends (beer and wine only). Or even a Thursday night as you're getting rev'd up for the weekend. More like 3.5 stars overall but I like it.

Belmont Brewing Co.

5 stars for the late night happy hour, usually one star for the service. So I'll rate this one right in the middle. I love coming here at about 8pm on a Friday or Saturday night to enjoy some of their good beers. During the summer, it's great sitting on the patio or one of the window booths in the bar area to see the sun set. It's a prime spot on the Belmont Pier.
Going back to the late night happy hour, it's a great deal. Fun place to hang with a small group of friends. Plus, I can stumble home after a couple pitchers. Don't eat in the restaurant often, but outside of breakfast, the food is mediocre in my opinion.

I go to Chronic Taco when I am hungry and need a quick bite to eat. There aren't a ton of to go restaurants like this in the neighborhood. It's decent stuff, but more of a place I head to at last resort for a quick eat. The Carne Asada burrito is what I usually get. I've had a couple experiences where the rice wasn't cooked fully. I dunno, it's not intended to be gourmet food or anything, but it's almost the equivalent of a chain fast food restaurant.
If I was baked out of my mind every time I ate here, maybe I'd give it a couple more stars, but it's nothing special overall.

George's Greek Cafe

The first thing I notice about George's each time I go is the friendly staff. They are very welcoming here. Every employee I encountered was really nice and friendly and welcoming.
Food is great too. Last time I was here I got the gyro pita and it was a ton of food. It's a cool, quaint little place which I enjoy frequenting.

El Pollo Inka
Category: Latin American
Neighborhood: Torrance
This place is bomb. I work close so I usually go every Friday for lunch. I can't steer away from the Combo Inka. Simple plate of rice, beans, and a quarter chicken. It also comes with a soup or salad. A big plate of food! Great value.
The green sauce is the best. I need a gallon for home. You can put it on anything. They should sell this stuff in the stores. One of these days I'll try a different entree!

Pros: well maintained, great deli options, good wine selection, neighborhood friendly
Cons: Every time you come here, there's someone out front with a table set up asking for some kind of donation or another for whatever cause it may be....sorry, I am not an a-hole but it gets old every time you come to shop; expensive, limited selection (sometimes not a bad thing)
Overall, this is a place to come if you need to pick up something quick.
