One of my favorite places in the city. There's just something about the place that is fun and sexy. The sangria is awesome. If you head to the back, you can get cozy with someone and spend the night chatting and canoodling in the corner. The music they play is great. The staff - amazing.
I recommend this place and it's one of my go-to places on the weekends. It can get crowded - which takes away from the ambiance - but if you time it right, you will have an amazing time.

I wasn't a fan of the chai.
I wasn't a fan of the service.
The ambiance of the place was great though. The staff - while not the most attentive - were pleasant and nice.
Ultimately, though, there are many more places in the East Village that you can get a drink and relax. This would not be the place I would choose. Sorry.

I was a vegetarian for over a decade, so I know it's not often that you find a good vegetarian bar. So the bar is set low for Kate's in general, and it passes over the bar - barely.
The food is inconsistent. There are times that I come in and have some great food - other's not so much. The staff is touch and go. I've had some great service there but you can tell it's totally based on the motivation of the staff. If they're in a good mood, they'll kick ass. If not - good luck. Everyone has their bad days, so I don't blame them - but you can tell how your service will be almost immediately.
Overall - I recommend this for vegetarians/vegans out there. It's the equivalent of good bar food that you can trust is vegan. I guess that's the best way to think of it - Vegan Bar Food. With that change of context, this review went from a 3-star to a 4-star. It's definitely 4-star Vegan Bar food. If you want a 4-star restaurant experience, you'll be left wanting though....

There's a saying that you're a true New Yorker once you walk into a bar and the only people you know there are the staff.
Well, with Royale, that's true for me. I generally go every Thursday and hang out with my favorite bar tenders. It's a chill place and the burgers are the best in Manhattan.
I order the Royale with Bacon and Bleu cheese without fail. It's always done to perfection. I'm not a huge fan of fries in general, but the fries are great. There's an outdoor patio, but I generally hang out at the bar - because the staff is that great.

Better when you live around the corner, wake up, put your name on the list, get the wait time (often up to 2 hours), go home, go back to bed, wake up and then wait for an actual time of 5 minutes.

Met up with a friend from Colorado here. Overall - it was a good experience. My friend and her sister loved the food. My burger was good (crumbly bleu cheese and HP sauce FTW!).
Overall - it was chill and fun. Had a great conversation with friends. It seems like it picks up steam later in the night but it was a good spot for a random Tuesday post-work meet up.

Living in the LES is amazing - especially if you like food. There are millions of places that you can go.
Yet, I find myself eating here a lot. Which I guess says something. I mean - in a world of practically infinite choices, I tend to eat here once a week. My girlfriend - she can't live without this place. The singapore noodles are amazing. The Pad Thai isn't perfect - but it's good. The prices - awesome.
