Really, it's all about the soup, as all the other yelpers say. So listen to them! Could have easily enjoyed a large chicken soup - I had the small and wanted more more more. My husband ate the tortilla soup and it was also delicious. Fresh, very flavorful without being too salty. Full of white meat chicken and avocados and just super tasty. Also ate a single enchilada suizas - nice tangy and spicy sauce, though too much sour cream for my taste.

Very unassuming on the outside - but cute and kitchy on the inside. Got there 5:45 pm on a Wednesday night, sat ourselves, but by 6 pm or so there was a line!

Shaw Island County Park

Amazing county park with just 10 sites on the bluff at Indian Cove on Shaw Island. Lovely sandy beach with shallow cove means the water actually gets fairly warm. Plentiful driftwood (though not so much as Spencer Spit on Lopez). Lovely campsites, no RVs, so no generator noise. We were able to park our 1977 VW camper van in site 7 - not all sites could even fit a camper van, and some are just walk/bike. It's only about 2.5 miles from the ferry landing. Pristine location, and really off the beaten path, but well worth trying to snag a reservation - 90 days out.

Re-Cyclery hopefully just made me the best mom ever - well, the best Santa Claus ever, cause I just picked up a sweet Specialized Hotrock 20" mountain bike in yellow with black flames for my 5yo son. It was in great shape, and the very nice and funny  (and super cute to boot) Jeff did a great job getting it ready for Xmas morning! Oh and did I mention it was just $70? Honestly, I don't think I've had that much fun waiting for shop staff to finish working - super friendly folks. Next time I need a bike (say when my 2yo is ready for a real bike!) I'll definitely be back. Thanks Re-Cyclery!

Stopped by at 3pm on a Friday afternoon for a drink with my boss and our recording engineer, fresh from a session recording voice over for a video. Had pretty minimal expectations that were blown out of the water! It was a lovely afternoon, and somehow it seemed pleasantly light inside - not dark and dank at all, like you might expect in an old-time saloon. Props to the proprietors for a super clean ladies room as well.

Oh, and the drink? Well, it was basically a tumbler full of Maker's with a splash of ginger ale. Nothing like a stiff drink with your boss to wind up the week!

Next time I'm in the dogpatch - um, when that will be, I have no idea - I'd definitely stop by again.

Fantastic - what a welcome addition to Marin! Beautiful new store, lots of space, terrific prices. Suppose it probably doesn't really live up to the "organic local sustainable" but it certainly brings a lot to the Canal to have such a lovely brand new supermarket! And I can't wait to go back and try some of the prepared food - it smelled delicious. They were even bar-b-quing oysters outside today. Great bulk bins of beans, dried chiles and more. They gave my son a freshly made tortilla to nibble on. Oh, and the pastries! Fantastic variety, super fresh, and VERY cheap! $1 for a whole bag of adorable key limes. Can't wait to go back.

Really loved dinner tonight! Such a good value for the money. Excellent mojitos too. And the tres leche cake is like eating a fluffy sweet cloud. YUM!

I'm so excited about Marinitas - feels like having a "real" restaurant in Marin!

And unlike some of the other reviewers, I felt the pricing was actually quite good - actually very reasonable for fine dining. Now, if you're after a RBC burrito, this is NOT the place for you. But a tasty fancy cocktail, couple of flavorful tacos, some churros with chocolate sauce for dessert ... mmm mmm good!

I also attended a large group party here (30 people) served in the back of the restaurant. I wasn't the organizer, but I know the price was very reasonable, we got tons of a good variety of food, the drinks kept coming, very friendly service. It was a blast, and I'd totally organize another event here!

How is it that I have never been to the Dugout before tonight? It's like the Presidio Yacht Club (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) but without the view. However, it has a huge outdoor patio which would be fabulous on a warm Marin summer night. Drinks are cheap ($5 Maker's & ginger!), people are friendly. Wouldn't say the juke box is my favorite, but you can certainly sing along to it. Will definitely be back!

Ghiringhelli's Pizzeria

I don't know why there are so many cranky-pants reviews for Ghiringehelli's - we ate here after a long hike and thought the Classic Veggie Pesto (or something like that) was super tasty! The crust was very crispy, there were tons of toppings (mmm... artichoke hearts) and it came to the table super hot.

The service was kinda slow, so I guess if you were getting delivery it might take too long, but it was pretty good for your classic pizza joint (i.e. not Pizza Antica or Piccolo's Pizza in Larkspur)

Super deliciousness. Sure, we waited 4-evah, but after a hike and pizza next door, it was OK on a pleasant Sunday evening.

The vanilla fudge was 2 Die 4, the chocolate mint chip was spectacular, with the most tasty, bitter-verging-on-cacao-nib chips, the strawberry was unbelievably fresh tasting.

I think the fresh waffle cones/bowls really put it over the top, especially because they don't cost extra! The whole experience is very reasonably priced - $2.60 for a single, which is really 1-2 flavors, or 2 normal-sized scoops. Didn't need any more - it was the perfect size. And way better than some of the other fancy-pants gelato places we normally go.

According to their sign, the lines are because they can only produce a certain amount of ice cream - and if they had more servers, they'd run out of ice cream.

Jake became my State Farm agent after a previous office I'd been with closed. He's a really great, nice guy, and it feels good to support someone that you can actually put a face to for something as banal as insurance!

His service has also been great - he offered to let us drop the insurance levels on our pickup that we don't drive but then increase it if we were going to use it for a weekend, and then drop it back down again - saving us good $!
