We just spent 3 nights and couldn't be happier. The hotel is only just over 40 days old. The interior is modern, clean, and well appointed. The rooms are very well laid out, comfortable, and modern. Nothing like the old design of the Residence Inns. What impressed us most was the staff. Everyone was friendly and bent over backwards to help us.

We were in town for my father's funeral, and booked a few rooms for our group. We stopped by a few days before we were due to check in to see if we could host a post-memorial service reception. The staff was great, and Dave (the manager) took us on a tour of the hotel. He provided us with a room for our reception at no charge, and made us feel completely welcome. This was all before we even checked-in! The hotel's free breakfast was great. Hot eggs, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, make your own waffles, plus plenty of cold items were available. We never took advantage of the Manager's reception in the evenings. Free internet was a bonus as well.

I can't say enough nice things about this property or the staff! Would definitely recommend it if anyone I knew needed a place to stay in this area.

JAM is great! Why am I so enthusiastic about a Auto repair shop? Well, because we all know how hard it is to find one that is HONEST, reliable, and doesn't try to rip you off!

The guys at JAM are nice, efficient, and don't try to keep selling you additional services. They tell you what you need, and leave the decision making up to you. We've been going there for a few years now and have had no issues with our cars. We have an Acura & Toyota, but I'm pretty sure they will work on non-Japanese cars as well.

Running etc. is THE best place in town to get your running gear. They watch you run, and will steer you towards the best shoes for your pronation type. The staff is always helpful and friendly....and they carry some really great stuff. The store stocks brands like Asics, Saucony, Brooks, New Balance, and Nike. They carry everything from shoes and socks to jogging strollers and apparel. They carry all sorts of accessories, and even have sports beans, goo, etc.

They support a lot of local races and charities, which is great! I love coming here and supporting my local businesses rather than letting Dicks and Sports Authority take all my money :)

Awesome atmosphere, pretty good food. The staff is always friendly. Very relaxing and the food always tastes fresh. The sweet potato pancakes and bacon were my favorite things. The omelets are a bit on the thin side, but still taste good. If you are looking for a good place to relax, and have a leisurely breakfast then this is your spot. Off season is best as there are no noisy tourists around :)

Years ago, I was trying to find a good baker to make a special birthday cake for my daughter's birthday. I found a really nice couple who worked from their home and specialized in making gorgeous wedding cakes. The prices were really reasonable, and they were soooo easy to work with...AND the cake I ordered was AWESOME! Delicious, a work of art, and scored tons of compliments from our guests!

The Shockley's recently opened a great little shop in Chambord Commons. You can meet them, place your orders in person, and even sample some of their yummy goods. They have very tasty cupcakes. They are small compared to most of the Cupcake places in town. Unlike, all the fancy cupcakeries in VB, these actually taste GOOD! They are moist, flavorful, and really yummy! The Peanut butter, and "Creme Bouquet" were my favorite. For, anyone interested in getting one of their cakes...they have a zillion choices of flavors. Best part is they are super nice, AND know how to make some really delicious treats!

I love cupcakes! Didn't love, or even like Just Cupcakes.

The store front looks pretty anemic, and the case is never full. I've been a few times, and even placed an order for a birthday party once. The cupcakes are pretty bland,cake slightly dry, and frosting too sweet.

I really wish we could get a yummy cupcakery at the Beach. There are tons of places that sell cupcakes here. I didn't realize how bad they all were until my husband brought home a box of Georgetown Cupcakes a few days ago.

Save your money and make your own, or wait till you're in DC or NY!

I love 501!!! Been eating there for over 10 years, and the food is still consistently good. In fact, I think we might pop in for dinner tonight since I don't feel like cooking.

The menu changes seasonally, and everything always tastes fresh! I can't remember having bad service, but sometimes it gets loud when there is a live band in the bar. The seafood dishes are always great, and I think everything is reasonably priced for what you get.

My only bad experience in this place was having to listen to a terrible band on the Bar side try and sing Justin Timberlake covers all through dinner :( If you want to play it safe....go eat on a night with no band, or eat earlier.  Otherwise, you might have to suffer through a really BAD rendition of "SexyBack!"

If you don't really like Sushi, then this is your place!

The staff is nice, but they are Chinese. I'm Chinese....so it's not like I've got anything against Chinese people.  I've never had really great sushi made by Chinese people, or Korean people. BUT, I am all about traditional fare. My favorite place in town is Kyushu...owned by Japanese people who make great sushi, and lots of authentic Japanese dishes like udons, and katsus.

Some of the rolls are tasty, but totally not authentic. Don't get any of the "tuna" rolls. They were filled with mushy chopped up tuna. The tempura shrimp were good, but the veggies were heavily breaded with a thick batter. The staff is very nice, and they always give you a complimentary roll or two! (which is why I think people really like this place.) Personally, I'd rather spend more and get better tasting food.

If you enjoy California rolls, and a lot of the cooked stuff then they have a huge selection of pretty good rolls. However, if you like all the traditional Japanese dishes made the correct way, and raw fish rolls then this is not the place for you.

I have only been to the new location of Conklin's, and I will say that it was soon after they opened. That being said.....it took FOREVER to get our food. Like 45 minutes later, the server was apologizing and saying that our food would be right out. The food was good but not very authentic. The shepherds pie had a puff pastry top, instead of the traditional mashed potatoes. Our soup was also not hot, but we were so hungry we ate it anyway!

Willing to give it another try, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.

Why are you not on the east coast? Actually, why AM I ON the east coast? I don't even like Irvine but considered moving to those brand new Avalon apartments across the street so I could be closer to you.

Damn your white chocolate strawberry cake! Damn your giant Brioche bread! All those fresh, tasty baked goods we gorged ourselves with on the flight home.

Who knows? maybe it's a blessing in disguise that I no longer live in LA. At least my butt will thank you for not getting any bigger!
