I'm really embarrassed to admit I've gone in here recently but, I was enticed by a cute pair of black flats which of course they didn't have anymore. They did have them in red and though cute, when you're charging $59.99 for a pair of super cheaply made flats hanging on an even cheaper plastic hanger, I think it's time for a reality check. Um hello, this is Strawberry. I could smell how cheap the clothes were. They were almost piling on the hangers. I could walk 15 blocks down to SoHo spend $20 more and get a pair of Melissa's that would last me years and make my feet smell like candy! I'm not even kidding.

I'm surprised this place is even still open. I say still because Strawberry has been here for at least 12 years if not longer. It's time for this place to be gutted and made into something more neighborhood friendly.

Every year when the weather turns warmer, I need to get my tan on. Just a few sessions to the melanin in my skin to wake up. I've been searching for a few months for a tanning spot that was clean, reputable, close to home or work and easy on the wallet. Considering I live in an somewhat obscure area for a tanning salon to be near by and, no one seems to tan in the Financial District, I opted for The Tanning Room based on a recommendation from a neighbor.

The space is small and the majority of the beds are standing. You have to go to level 3 to lye down which I opted to do.The level 3 beds are pretty decked out with ac in the bed itself as well as a separate face tanner you can turn on and off. The packages are reasonable (check the pics for their price list). The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you opt to buy lotion, you can leave it there which is convenient especially since using a tanning lotion is the best way to keep your tan. You know, moisturize the situation and preserve your sexy. Overall nice experience.

It really is a shame they don't have a website. I'm sure they're missing a lot of business because of it. But then again, I don't really know if I want EVERYONE to find out about this place :).

Gap Factory Store

On point and a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

The blocks that make up Downtown Brooklyn have been gentrifying before my eyes for the past 2 years. To be honest, I don't mind that this isn't a regular Gap. As a petite person, I've never had much luck with the standard Gap store and didn't shop there even when it was right across the street from me. The clothing quality is just as good as the regular Gap. The prices are right with anywhere from 20%-50% off items outside of their small clearance sections. It's also a happy medium between Jimmy Jazz across the street, Macy's down the block and Banana Republic on Montague. Contrary to popular belief, they do carry some of the same items they sell at the standard gap as well. I caught their vibrant skinny jeans at the front display table at regular price. They also have some pretty awesome print shorts I plan to go back and snatch up. Hopefully they'll be on clearance by then.

The key to this store is keeping it a pristine and clean as possible. It will then continue to attract the diverse clientele that defines the DT BK neighborhood. I hope to see more stores like this one with the revamping of the Fulton Street mall. I hear Sephora is on its way too.

This may start getting dangerous.

I want to preface this review by saying you need to be extremely clear when ordering. They speak English but they seem confused. I was sure my order would be messed up but it was perfect. The food was on point. Super delicious and they make both Japanese and Chinese dishes. Reasonably priced, you'll be happy with the food from here.

With two visits to the genius bar in a week, i think it's time for a review. Both of my experiences were pretty stellar. I walked away with two gripes that landed apple 4 stars in my book. My first appointment was for my ipad 2 when my speakers magically decided to stop working only after having it for a month. I discovered this on an airplane back from DR and was on the verge of a heart attack that my time period for a check-up on my device was past due until my boyfriend told me Mac guarantees their products for a year. Upon landing and gaining internet access I made my first Genius Bar appointment. I made this one during the week which apparently didn't matter because I still had to wait. They did, however, replace my ipad 2 immediately and for free. Heart attack averted.

Later in the week, I made an appointment for my sister and I to get her iphone checked out while I had them look at my macbook, ipod and iphone (i obviously have an apple addiction). Anyway, gripe two, you have to make an appointment for each device so they can track service to each which in retrospect makes sense but is annoying if you haven't make an appointment for each upon arrival. Anyway, they replaced the shell of my white MacBook for free. With my self installed upgrade of a 500GB HD and 4 gigs of ram, my macbook looks brand new and I am very pleased.

Overall I got all my devices fixed and had a nice experience.

Amazing. Absolutely Amazing.

The sushi bombs are da bomb. Seriously I'm still drooling. The drinks are perfect, the food selection is interesting but everything is flavorful. Seriously, it rocks. The atmosphere is unique, and their back patio area is enclosed and warmed in the winter time.

It can get pricy but it's worth it. Utterly absolutely delicious. Totally drool worthy and you can quote me on that. GO!

Cuba

So, we came here per suggestion by my cousin and his wife. My boyfriend wanted Cuban food for his birthday dinner and they had recently tried Cuba and highly recommended it.

Cuba is a small place right in Greenwich Village on a quieter side street away from the nightife on MacDougal. Bilingual waiters (it's always fun to practice Spanish) and
The meal started out pleasantly but soon after we ordered, they sat a couple who are regulars right next to us. Mind you Cuba is extremely small so we were very close to them while they had very loud boisterous conversation with the manager and every waiter that stopped by their table. I wouldn't have minded if we weren't sitting so close but the constant banter was obnoxious only a few inches from you in a very chill atmosphere. Though I do appreciate that kind of customer/owner relationship, it didn't have to overpower 1/2 of the small place.

The food was just ok, nothing riveting or particularly memorable. Overall I've had better food and better dining experiences.

Wolfgang Puck Express

The 2 1/2 star aggregate review here is totally unjustified. After 3 days in Chicago for a work trip, three co workers and I popped into Wolfgang Puck Express in O'Hare to grab dinner before our flights back home. With two hours to kill, the four of us sat down to a pretty awesome dinner.

Now I can empathize with those people who say the prices were a little steep but, you are in the airport. They do charge $3 for a Snapple so $20 for a plate of spaghetti or burger isn't THAT outrageous considering everything is overpriced in an airport. Our experience was pretty on par. The food was delectable, perfectly seasoned. However the burger was supposed to be medium and was definitely well done. We also got a few glasses of wine with our meals which were a perfect and flavorful compliment. Not to mention were quite helpful with falling asleep on the plane. P.s. jetblue rules. The restaurant iself has and "outside" and inside area, with a bar for travelers who just want to pop in and get a drink. You can also grab some food by their "curbside" case and buy

Be forewarned, there was a line when we went to eat but it moved quickly. The service was just ok and they did ID all of us before serving us alcohol. A 4 star experience in an airport is pretty sweet. I'm giving it this many for the food, specifically it just really hit the spot and I practically licked my plate clean.

Update - 11/6/2011
So I went into Radio Shack completely by chance today after an hour of being in the Verizon store a block down. I had a really bad scare the other night when in a very desolate area all alone and my T-mobile phone did not and would not get service. Not only that, it thought it was January 5, 1980 and 7pm when it was clearly neither of those. I'm usually not so hasty in making a switch but this was not the first time I have had a T-mobile service issue.

Anyway, I walked over to Verizon as soon as they opened to switch carriers especially when T-mobile's response to my issue was to go over to the area i had the problem and call them from another phone to trouble shoot it. No thanks. Though Verizon was extremely helpful, they didn't have the 16GB white iPhone 4S so i reluctantly ordered the phone to be delivered a few days later. I will also be traveling in the next day or so and felt a little uneasy/naked without my personal phone. Being unable to wait, and passing by Radio Shack, I figured I'd just walk in and ask if they had the iPhone 4S and well, they did. Excited, i sprinted back to the Verizon store to cancel my order and went back to Radio Shack and got my iphone.

Not only that, the expreience was great. The sales person, she was super helpful and got to walk out with my phone, awesome service and it ended up being my xmas present from my boyfriend. Thanks babe!

P.s. The last time I was at this Radio Shack, they were super understocked but this time they were fully stocked, and oh they knew what a nook color was :).

The sales person didn't know what a nook color was. That's sad. Isn't radio shack supposed to be a multi purpose electronics store?

I wont come back here again.
