On a lazy Sunday I needed a place to watch the Buffalo Bills get their asses kicked and I loved beer so I called the Bronx Ale House and they told me to come on over. We parked around the corner without a problem and walked over. The front is open to the street and I could see lots of flat screen TVs up on the walls and YES! My game was on.
I went to the bar to order a couple of beers for my boyfriend and myself. There was an open stool and another stool next to it that appeared to be vacant but there was a half drunk beer on the bar. I tried to ask the bartender three times if anyone was sitting there and he just kept walking away from me. Finally on the fourth time he told me quite rudely that someone was sitting there. This person never reappeared for the whole 20 minutes we were in the bar.
I spent a full 20 minutes at the bar and he never took my beer order. I stood there waiting... waiting... staring at him... waving money... nothing. We finally walked out. All the tables and the bar were full and people were standing and there was only one guy working in the whole place. So I blame the bar for not hiring 2 people at least to work on Sunday during football season and I also blame the bartender for some of the worst service I have ever gotten anywhere.
I love beer and was so excited to try this place and I doubt I will ever go back.
The two guys who own the place are always there and really nice. They tell me what repairs are necessary and more importantly, what are unnecessary. When a part broke that was under dealer warranty, they told me to get it fixed there for free instead of just keeping quiet and letting me pay them to fix it. They also order oil filters for my boyfriend's new Saturn which no one carries and don't charge him anything extra over the $34 for the regular oil change.
4 stars because I wish they stayed open a little later during the week (they close at 6) and my car is still making an annoying noise that no one, including them, has been able to fix.

We walked in at 6:30 on a Saturday night and got to choose from a handful of open tables. I gave them our gift certificate in advance as instructed. They had a few maki combos (tuna, yellowtail and eel for only $12 with soup and salad) which I usually get because they're economical, but since we had to spend $50 to use the certificate I splurged on a couple special rolls. The Dragon Roll I ordered was awesome - deep fried spicy tuna with avocado inside and scallions and roe on the top. They also had a great shrimp tempura. I loved the miso soup with shitake mushrooms.
I saw there was a beer special when I walked in but I didn't really get a good look at the price. I just said "I'll take the beer special!" It turned out to be a $6 mug of Sapporo on draft. Not too special. I'm used to $4 beers at sushi places and everything here was $6 and up so I thought that was a little pricey. They did have a full menu of interesting liquor drinks but they were all over $8 and nothing really caught my eye.
My only other complaint was that two parties at the restaurant had babies or little kids - and one family had two little kids who wouldn't stop shrieking and screaming the whole time. It wasn't the restaurant's fault of course but it gave our romantic sushi dinner a very Chuck E. Cheese soundtrack.
I like the way the servers all stop by your table when you need something, but our server was very attentive and sweet. I also really liked how they made all of our rolls with brown rice for no extra charge. We had no trouble at all using the gift certificate. I think we will be back - maybe just for the yummy fruity gumballs they gave us at the end :)

The place is tiny with a little front seating section outside and inside a bar on the left with a couple stools and one long table on the right where 8 people can sit. My friend and I got 2 stools in the front window for people watching.
We had just eaten dinner so we stuck to the wine list but I did see a yummy goat cheese app come out to the girls next to us. The wines by the glass ranged from $8-$12 I think. The bartender/waiter/host - only room for one guy in the front of the house - was very knowledgeable about the wines and told me straight away that the pinotage I wanted to order wouldn't be like a pinot noir like I was hoping, but it is one of his favorites. We ordered and he brought out the glasses and little wine carafes which we poured ourselves. I liked my wine very much and it didn't break the bank.
This is a cute neighborhood place to go with a friend and try some new wine and catch up.

Unfortunately I work at a really small office so it's hard for me to get away for lunch but Carlos said it would be ok if I came in at 5:30 after work. He even asked the waiter to stay late for me, which I felt bad about, but he said he wanted to make sure I was taken care of.
I stopped by that morning to say hi and introduce myself so he could put my face with my name and he gave me a complimentary coffee and a donut to take to the office. Very sweet!
My friend and I came in around 5:20 and sat in the back dining area. She had a veggie wrap which she said was so good and I had the mac n cheese and a side Caesar salad. I had their delicious fresh squeezed OJ that I love so much. The mac and salad were both great and the waiter was really sweet and attentive without being intrusive.
Everything was great and I'm pretty sure they are going to be more careful about my delivery orders in the future. Five stars for such great customer service and Carlos!!

I order catering from here very often for business meetings. They have an online ordering system that is pretty easy to use. I have had trouble with their deliveries not showing up at all or being really late, which makes me look bad when I'm in charge of the food at a big meeting. Once when I called about a missing delivery, they told me the guy would be here in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later I walked over there myself and no one was working on my order. WTF? They were really apologetic but I just don't understand how that could happen. I have also been double charged for items before but they always make it up to me by refunding me and giving me some freebies.
On the good side, they have great iced tea and a pretty large and varied menu and there is something for everyone. I love ordering the cookies and fruit dessert platter and make sure I grab all the yummy frosted Certe cookies before I put it out for our meetings (shh! don't tell). I go in for coffee in the mornings sometimes and the counter service is excellent - and they make a great cappuccino. It's a little expensive but usually it's on the company card so it doesn't bother me too much. I don't usually go there on my own for that reason even though I'm only a few doors down the street.

There was no line since it was about 9:15 and to my delight there was a pumpkin loaf with a few roasted pumpkin seeds on top. It was $3.50 and I normally pay $1.59 for a pumpkin muffin at Dunkin' Donuts, but this pumpkin loaf is bigger and definitely more natural and what the heck - I deserve a $2 splurge!
The loaf is really good and the seeds are a nice touch. I am taking off one star because it was baked in a cardboard tray which was convenient for carrying it back to my desk but now it's not very easy to get all the morsels, which are stuck to the sides. It needs one of those little cupcake foils or something to prevent this waste of yumminess!
Also, the lady told me she is going to try to be at my corner (55th and 6th) every Wednesday. I'm stoked to try cupcakes and cookies next time.

Even better, it's owned by Clearview Cinemas and Optimum Triple Play customers can go to any Clearview Cinemas theater for free on Tuesdays with a guest. So I went there to see Harry Potter for free with my boyfriend a couple months ago. Free tickets, delicious popcorn, and a classy doorman just like the good old days who ripped out tickets and told us to enjoy the show. I felt like I stepped back in time. The seats are super comfortable with lots of leg room and there are gorgeous chandeliers and pretty wall sconces in the theater. Plus we both agreed it was the nicest screen we have ever enjoyed. There is only one screen so they can only show one movie at a time but if there is a movie playing there that you want to see - don't go anywhere else! We will absolutely be back!!

I've had a decent burger there but nothing to write home about. The french onion soup was really good and reasonably priced. I've sat at the bar and the tables and had great service but really bad service outside. I think our server forgot about us and we had to go in to pay our check when she never came back.

Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a fruity delicious margarita and my mom had a South American beer (Brahma maybe?) that she had never tried before and liked it. We ordered a salad and some delicious fish tacos. The server was accommodating and let me change my tacos around a little so I could use a different sauce from other tacos. They were absolutely awesome.
So we had the appetizer tacos and the salad (Cobb I think) and beer and margarita and I think it was pretty expensive. I would give it 5 stars if I could afford to go more often.

They had a lot of great stuff on draft. I had the Leffe Brown, Ithaca Nut Brown, and Bear Republic Red Rocket which were all great. The waitress, Julia, was super sweet and very attentive. She brought me baskets of popcorn all afternoon, which was very luxurious considering I would have been fine with getting them myself. She also brought me shots of the various beers so I could try them before I ordered.
For food we had a sampler of little sandwiches with their home cut fries which were all really good. Then my boyfriend and I split the most DIVINE steak sandwich on a toasted garlic sub roll. We substituted the regular fries for sweet potato fries for a dollar. This was hands down, one of the best steak sandwiches I ever had. Cooked perfectly medium rare like I requested and the roll was to die for. I said "this is my death row meal, forget Peter Luger" though maybe that was the high octane beer talking.
Julia had our check comped just like Jay said, which was so, so nice of them. Then we bought one of their awesome mini Bronx Ale House mugs that they bring your silverware in for $7.
The service was way, way better than my last visit, especially because of Julia. Maybe during the first visit the bar was just too crowded and they were just starting out so they were working out some kinks, but today was like night and day... I will definitely be back!!
