I used Peninsula Tree Care for the pruning of a very large, sick bay tree in my back yard. When I first called them, they came out the very next day and gave me an estimate. Ultimately this estimate turned out to be the most competitive estimate of the 4 others I got from various tree companies.
When it came time for the work, they showed up promptly (actually 15 minutes early!) and were very a very nice and efficient crew. The work was done as promised, and they made sure everything was cleaned up before they left.
This was a MAJOR job, since the tree has to be 100 years old, and parts of it were dead or dying. From some of the other estimates I received, it was clear that other firms didn't want the job. But these guys jumped right in and did a phenomenal job. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company for your tree work!!

I agree with Dave K. If you want to relive that wonderful memory of gasping for air and breathing in wind-blown dirt on the big uphill, then this is the place! Seriously, it is indeed a great place to run -- easy to get to, great views of the bay.
Also, check out Edgewood Park. It offers everything that Crystal Springs does, but more trails and more varied terrain. I wrote a review of it on my blog:

I referred one of my clients to Sunset for a re-finish and repair job on an existing hardwood floor job, and they were VERY pleased with the results. I will use them again on an upcoming job, and will let everyone know how this one goes....
Great place for any hairstyle, male or female. Jim is great for men's haircuts, and knows all the styles that the style-conscious boys like too. Since they remodeled, the place has a very new feel to it. It's the only place I'll go to from now on.
This is definitely the place to go if you or your kid plays lacrosse. They have everything there that you need, and people who know their product. This is especially important for a newbie like me, who knows virtually nothing about the sport (except that it's VERY exciting to watch!)
The only negative is that it's so far from San Carlos :-) But with the popularity of lacrosse growing, I hope they'll open up another shop further up north.

Where's Lowe's when you need need them? This place has cornered the home improvement in San Carlos and they certainly know it. I can never find what I'm looking for in this hole, and getting help is virtually impossible.
If you're lucky enough to find what you need, you'll stand in line for 10 minutes while they struggle to find the price on a $0.30 piece of PVC. Ugh...

This is a great alternative to the crowded Starbuck's locations, especially during the morning rush. They make a cappuccino that is second to none... Nice place to sit and enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee before jumping into the rat race.
Probably the safest place to be, since many of San Carlos' finest often frequent this shop :-)

Convenient for those of us on the west side of the bay -- I have generally had good service when I have gone in, but on a few occasions they didn't have the size I was looking for and consequently I had to go elsewhere. Skate sharpening is a huge plus. The guys that work there definitely know their stuff.
Simply the best pizza around. I used to prefer the thick, cheesy types of pizzas, but when I got turned on to East Coast style pie, that was it.... These guys simply make the best. The $6 lunch special is still a good deal.
This place is a gem -- a hobbyists' hobby shop. It feels like you're stepping back in time when you go into this store, but they truly understand what's important to hobbyists. Models, trains, RC cars... they have good stuff, and they're very knowledgeable.
I was frantically hunting for a power supply/transformer for my son's HO train set on Christmas Eve. Nobody had even one of these -- but these guys had an entire shelf of them, with three different power ranges to choose from. They have a fantastic "old school " train selection, with old cars you won't easily find anywhere else.
Check them out -- you'll be glad you did.
