Pearl

This shop is so cute and of course all about pearls. The shop owners, his daughters and the store manager are the only ones who run the shop and the only ones who string pearls. (Which, if you know nothing about pearls is very hard to do). The store manager was very helpful and had plenty of knowledge to share about pearls in general and what they have in the store. Many of the items were on sale as it is "off season" in SWFL right now. They also carry many "one of a kind" lines.

Note that I gave this store $$$ but I"m sure you can find a good price in off season but don't be scared off, you are buying the real thing.. and they are expensive!

I love this park. Hidden behind 5 guys and Potbelly it is a true jem of Edina.  Every day in the summer there is something else to do! Mondays are ballroom dancing. Thursday are movies and Farmer's market... (many of you downtown fav's are there!). The fishing is great and you can always catch something.  This park has the best mini-golf course that makes even me feel a bit closer to the PGA! I can't wait to see what is going to happen in the winter.

Cute deli with a few made to order items. It was nice to walk around and see items that I use to be able to buy when I lived in Italy. Pasta was on sale and other items seemed a bit pricey. I checked out the bakery case and was so disappointing - no tiramisu and no cannoli's! I was unable to  check out the wine store as it was Sunday but it looked well stocked!  We will have to head back for the restaurant and see what treats are new.

Stopped by here today to make use of a "living social" coupon. Sunday has happy hour starting early - we had a late lunch at 1 pm and were able to have a pint of off the 34 taps for only $2.50! I had the Garden Burger which was delish. The patio was small but cozy and made for the great spot for lunch on a great Minnesota summer day.

Be sure to check the menu for the daily specials! Today was all you could eat chicken.... I will have to go back!

Important note: Patio closes at 9:00 pm with last call for Food at 8:30pm as per St. Paul City Law :(

This place is such a win-win for restaurant week. Why I don't head down here more often is beyond me - considering they do a Lunch tasting menu for $10.00 all the time. Food is always good and it is a quiet spot to chill out at lunch time. But if they get busy service is bad and slow.

Sauce Pizza & Wine - CLOSED

Update - 6/26/2010 1 Check-in Here
Tucked away in a nice quiet corner of the up and coming West End and close to the parking ramp is Sauce! The restaurant is designed to allow you to order your food, grab a seat and wait for your food to arrive. At the soft opening this weekend they were very generous and let you try anything that you wanted! Matt and I took the suggestion to order salads, and each a different entree. I had the Caprese salad with the Chicken Caesar Salad  pizza. Matt had the Turkey & Feta Salad and the Roast Beef and Mozzarella panini.  It was all very good. The salads were huge! Presentation was well done and Matt raved about the Salad. (Pretty good for a meat & potatoes guy!!) The CCS Pizza was delicious. For those of you who wanted a "healthy" pizza this is the the way to go. You don't feel so bad when your topping is a salad. Plus it keeps well in fridge with leftovers. Matt devoured his panini! The roast beef was extremely tender and had great flavor.

The best part about Sauce is that the menu is not overwhelming. They have variety and a nice selection plus the Menu screens near the order line recommend some mix & match items to create your meal.

As Stephanie mentioned they have a great date night special for only $20.00! They are going to give Punch a run for it's money.

Salon 71

I was in desperate need of a hair mini-makeover. I made an appointment this past week at Salon 71. The women on the phone was nice but I should have guessed something was very different about this place when I called. Ever other sentence I was put on hold and finally made a reservation after 10 mins. Prices online looked good and after I estimated my costs I figured I would actually be saving money as they are a bit cheaper than other places in town.  When I made the reservation they said that they do not accept credit cards. Ok - no big deal it saves lots of $$ in fees. When I arrived it was really empty and not very "Salon" like.  Drab colors, nice windows of France Ave &  Lunds parking lot but didn't feel very welcoming. (Maybe I"m just spoiled from Juut and other places I"ve been.) They do serve water and coffee but in Styrofoam cups. (I'm against Styrofoam when there are plenty of other cups/glasswares that are much safer for the environment.)  My stylist (Jordan) was very nice and did a great job with my color & cut. When I was done my cost  went up because "she had to do so much work back to back & needed more dye". (Side note- It was a trim of 1 inch and a full highlight. Which is what I booked for!!! Plus she never ran out of dye in the first place.) So I go to write a my check to pay and the check was made out to my stylist who's real name is Heidi?!? not Jordan.

I left happy but with a bigger dent in my wallet than I had planned on. Not to sure if I will go back.

Interesting little place for a liquor store - however it has to be one of the better ones that I have found in Minneapolis. Wide selection of beer & cider in the cooler - for those of us who have little time to chill it down.  Everything was clearly marked with the price. I like that they have a buy by the bottler cooler of all different varieties and price ranges. The staff was helpful and friendly. This is a great place to go if you want to try something new. They do have their own parking lot which is a bonus.

Elite Event at OM

Honestly, I would have never gone to OM otherwise. I am just not totally on the Indian Cuisine scene yet. When we arrived it took a while to find quarters for the meter, the bar was out and it seemed that every other place in the city was too! Coat Check was a nice touch as it was about 100* in the restaurant - perhaps to add to the atmosphere? The wine was good and the food looked good but minimal. The henna artist was a cool touch and I was glad to try it out. The Band played some nice music but at times it was hard to hear other people. Beer is not on tap and a bit pr icy for a bottle - $7.00. The chandelier was a great focal point of the restaurant - after all bidding on it only a few came close to the actual price $50,000.00! Sarah P. did a fantastic job as always. Looking forward to February!

Stopped by Saffron after the last elite event. What an amazing happy hour! Late night showcases apps at $3.50 each and 1/2 off specialty drinks, beer & wine! I had the Gin, Basil & Mint martini which was very cool and refreshing & not over powering with the Gin. For our apps we had the french fries with the feta fondue. There is nothing like it. I was in heaven.  We also had the mini burgers which were good but the roll was a bit much for the meat. I would do back for happy hour again and be sure to ask for a dinner menu to see what other offerings there are.
