The Hot Spot

Hot Spot is an okay spot! Full Bar! Excellent Beer on tap selection.  There is a second level with pool tables.  The clientele was a mixed working class crowd. I was here for the Thursday night karaoke.  Parking was okay. The neighborhood is not quite the Tenderloin nor is it upscale.  I will go back for certain.

This used bookstore was located on West Portal Ave.  As a fan of other used bookstores the organization can be hit or miss.  The space is small and I was not impressed with the selection.  I did try to sell some books to the store. I was miffed I only got  "store credit" on a textbook from City College.  I have not been back since. I use the library.

This smoke shop is small, so small maybe about 2 people would feel comfortable waiting at the register.  They are stocked with tobacco and phone cards.  I was very happy to NOT have to drive to pick up some weekend party supplies.

Authentic panini. Chimay beer and gelato. Oh yeah I am in love. I did not even break the bank.  I am glad this location is so central to BART and transportation.  I am glad this place is here.

Excellent children's book selection on the top floor. With Rand McNally & Stacey's closing. This is my go to spot for travel related books.  I love the political and current events book selection also.  I want to keep supporting independent bookstores, especially those that are in downtown San Francisco.

I love magazines especially alternative and foreign mags. With Stacey's Bookstore closing, Fog City News is in a good location to capture all of the old customers.  The shelves are kept neat and up-to-date.  Great selection of travel, food, technology, music and black culture magazines.

Teeny Tiny location. I seriously got a bit claustrophobic. Everything is stacked to the brim. This is after the remodel.

I suggest you visit this store off peak hours of the day because parking is atrocious. I usually avoid but the sale circular had my kombucha tea drinks $1.50 cents cheaper than Rainbow.

Mount Davidson Park

Due to "urban legends", crazy stories about satanic rituals here, it took me forever to finally visit this park.

The 103 foot cross dominates the skyline from the City College of San Francisco Phelan campus.  At one time the cross was illuminated at night and was visible up to 75 miles away.

Mount Davidson is named in 1911 after George Davidson who surveyed the mountain in 1862. The original name was Blue Mountain when Adolph Sutro owned the land.

This is a 38 acre nature preserve. The cross sits atop a 938 foot summit.  There are some steep trails and paths. The view of San Francisco is spectacular.  Mt Davidson is the highest point in the city.

I liked my hike. I will be back.

I like this Starbucks because it is located next to a supermarket. Very convenient if you are grocery shopping and need to pick up some beans or a cup of java.   Free parking available in the lot.  This is a popular location expect a wait at peak times and weekends.

I was able to find a vintage dress at a more reasonable price to what I would pay at a trendy vintage clothing store on Haight St.  I was happy with the selection of clothing and sizes.

There is alot of furniture and household items at this location. I stood in shock at the used camera equipment section. Well atleast it is not all in a landfill somewhere.

I will keep this place on my radar and check periodically for new used stuff.
