Don't know why I keep coming here... they always jerk me around on posted special prices. They leave their signs up after a special expired and charge full price, and trying to get them to honor the posted price is a crapshoot depending on who's working (some who work there are better than others). Went there today to get sodas on special at 2/$2.22 (or one at regular $1.69 price). I got six bottles, 2 of one kind, 4 of another. He charged one at the $2.22 price, then the other four as a "3 for $5.07" bundle and the fourth at $1.69. I told him the $9+ total was incorrect because they were on special. He kept insisting that he was charging me correctly (there was NO 3-for special posted, and it was obviously the regular price anyways!). Why we didn't even think to do 2 2-for specials instead of a 3-for and 1 is beyond me. I had to ask to return them before he would even bring his supervisor over, who pointed out he didn't know what he was doing. This is NOT the first time I've had overcharging issues with this location. I used to get gas here all the time because the location was convenient, but I'm going to go out of my way to Motomart or Kwik Trip just to avoid the hassles!
I will preface this by saying I know little about cars and I had been taking my cars here for a couple years. They were convenient and my company has a discount with them. Unfortunately, the cheapest isn't always the best.
I took my wife's car here over a month ago over a bad turn signal. When my wife made the appointment, she told them she thought it might be a bad fuse, but could they still check it out. After "diagnosing" the issue, they said it was a bad signal switch, and proceeded to try to find a salvage yard part to keep the cost down. After two weeks, they found one that worked and we scheduled a date to bring the car in (the day after they received the part). The day of the appointment, I show up and they said the yard sent them the wrong part (wrong car, wrong part). Another half week later, they put the part in and it still doesn't work. As this had extended out over several weeks, we just told them on a Friday to get a new part and they said they'd call by end of day to let us know what they found. By Tuesday, still no word from them. They ordered a part but it was backordered. On a whim, I thought I'd try to pop a new fuse in (which admittedly, I should have done day 1). That's what the problem was and the turn signals worked again. After a laborous month of waiting, it turned out that they either didn't bother checking for a burned out fuse, or they didn't care to try a new one. So in my book, they're either shady in getting us to do a whole new switch, or at the very least grossly incompetent for not checking fuses to begin with.
I had taken my car there for oil changes and other things in past because they seemed on-the-ball with those things, but it seemed toward the end that they seemed to be better and better about finding things wrong with the car which may or may not have needed fixing. They may be cheaper than most other places (especially with my company's discount), but I'm sorry... the trust is gone. A fuse seems like THE most obvious thing in the world, and had they bothered to check that first, maybe I'd still be a customer.
I went in to cancel the order for the new part, saying that I replaced a fuse and it worked now. I showed them the old fuse next to a new one, and it's obvious that the fuse had blown, and all he had to say was "amazing..." before profusely apologizing. I don't find it all that amazing, unfortunately.
The food is good and the service is OK, but my 1-star review is solely based on the fact that the management (or a server in their employ) is either shady or cannot read numbers on a credit card slip. My last meal there was about $10, and I wrote $12 even on the total line to encompass the bill and tip. On my credit card receipt, a $17 charge was found. Even in the eventuality that they could not tell a 2 from a 7, you would think they would have the common sense to make the assumption that I intended to tip 20% instead of 70%. I have no gripe about the food here, but I would highly suggest that if you visit Blueberry Hill, you pay cash ONLY. That way you're less likely to be taken by their staff.
