By far this is the best food you can get in Guerneville at this point, and in fact that goes for this entire area of Sonoma county. Super fresh, perfectly cooked, healthy and savory local food sources. The service was excellent as well. A tiny little place, but so worth checking out. You won't find this level of cooking at this price point anywhere around here.
The 2AM club holds the distinction of being the last bar (other than restaurant bar) to survive in mill valley. Previously, it had been considered the most divey of the other bars, and maybe it is that toughness that has kept it alive.
The bartenders are a really good lot. They pour a strong drink, so be careful on that count, if that's not what you're looking for. The beer selection is typical, and not very inspiring. The prices of the beers are comparable to many places in the city, meaning you'll find drinks for a lot less at a comparable dive bar, and a lot more at a more swanky place.
The Juke Box use to be fun before it was an internet one, but this one seems to be set on the mediocre setting, meaning, if your a big fan of eighties hair bands, you'll probably find stuff you like. You can find cool stuff, but it seldom changes and as far as new releases, you better be the type that get's excited when Britney Spears has a new c.d. out, or you'll mostly be sh** out of luck. It also cost a lot to hear the songs...
The atmosphere must have been cool when the likes of Jack Kerouac hung out here. Another couple more years of peeling paint, and you might actually be able to see how it looked then. It has what looked like a very cool fireplace, but it got painted, then covered over, and then a big t.v. was put on it....so much for coolness....A sand blaster would go a long way to improving the decor.
That said, I go fairly often, as there are a lot of nice people who'll show up there, and the staff are the salt of the earth. If there was another cool spot, I'd probably go there, and take the staff with me.
