There's something kind of strange about a kids' hair salon where the people are rude and snotty, especially when the haircuts are bad and overpriced. Don'tcha think?

I can't say enough great things about Sandi. She has an impeccable reputation as one of the Bay Area's leading dog trainers, and we were very happy with the results of our two puppy classes we took with her. I think my favorite part is that she not only manages to keep the room under control and instill order (in spite of the chaos of 12 adolescent dogs together in a small space), but she was great at helping us nervous owners feel more relaxed about everything ... teaching us how to let our dogs be dogs. I highly recommend Sandi and Bravopup!

I have somehow never been to T&T until yesterday, despite the fact that a million of my friends live in Temescal. It basically lived up to everything I'd heard about it. It was cute and there were some great things about it (I really dig the toddler-friendly play structure, where my monkey could climb and slide and climb and slide, over and over, without falling off and getting injured). But the toys and equipment were REALLY grungy (naked baby dolls and little kitchen sets and other toys covered in grime - there was a gray film on everything). And sure enough, I sat down to feed my picky eater (who I always bring food for since she'll never eat anything purchased at a restaurant) and the owner swooped down on me and told me I'd make her lose her food license if I didn't put the food away. I kind of don't get why you would open a place for toddlers and then not let parents bring in toddler food. So I purchased the "kids' cheese and fruit plate" (at $6.00) for Ms. Picky, who nibbled at the cheese (not the string cheese she adores) and turned her nose up at the oranges and brown apples). We had to go home to have lunch. I don't think this is going to be a first choice for me as a place to return to; the owner told me I could "just take my food outside," so if that's the case, why did I just pay $5 to come inside? We can go to the park, and eat outside, for free.

All that being said, it's cute and, when the kids get a little older and can play without bonking their heads, I can see why moms would want to come here and hang out together while the kids romp.

We had lunch with an out-of-town co-worker here. It was the perfect lunch spot: a cozy but bright and airy space with clean lines and great art ... and that's before we even looked at the menu! It was difficult choosing what to eat because all the choices looked so interesting. To start we went with the fried green beans, tempura-style, with peanut dipping sauce; the pretty, bite-sized COCOmole tacos, and the brandade with fennel crackers. My colleagues ordered bright, fresh, beautiful salads, and I pigged out and went with the pulled pork panini on focaccia, which was amazing. Even their non-alcoholic drink selection was a little on the exotic side. Service was friendly and efficient, and even with the hard surfaces the place never got too loud. I will definitely be back!
