Waikiki Starlight Luau at the Hilton Hawaiian…

Having been to just about all of Oahu's luaus now I can give you these awesome seasoned-luau'er facts about this particular destination. I personally feel these are positive things. Take them as you will.
*Ladies can wear heels. It's all cement
*No need to over-tip your servers in hopes of getting strong drinks. They all go to the same service well. That produces hopelessly watered down cocktails.
*The show is actually really good. Some of the best fire dancers I've ever seen in my life ever ever, and there's 4 of them
*It's smack dab in the middle of Waikiki. You won't be drudging back to your hotel room exhausted after a long bus ride. You can, um, pile into Arnold's around the corner.
*The food is AMAZING. Definitely the best of all of them. Worth the money.

One of the BAMPers is a partner.... so if they have an artist in town that you're way in to (hi, John Legend) chances are you'll be able to rub their elbow here. You'll totally feel rad doing it too because the place is like some way too trendy/expensive private lounge/club that you're not invited to but just walked right in.

If you like tofu and veggies in your bowl, Pho97 is the only place in Chinatown to plop down and eat. The tofu chunks are beautiful giant pillow-like slices, never those wrinkly-hard reconstituted squares some places get away with giving people....and they aren't shy with the broccoli.
Great broth and noodles too.
Kind of the only place I go for pho.
Only thing....you might want to bring your own water, in the grand tradition of pho spots they give you refills pretty much never.

You guys are missing a star. Why? Hello! You totally built an authentic wood burning pizza oven that would make Mario Italiano (or some other famous Neapolitan pizza guy) totally salivate and stay true to the home made ingredients of a classic recipe that's got to be centuries old, producing a pizza that's so crack-like even people who don't understand that whole "real Italian pizza" thing ("where's all the cheese") totally addicted ...and ONLY SERVE IT AFTER TEN PM.

I wake up in the middle of the night screaming "Tenkaippin! TENKAIPPIN!" sometimes.
If you haven't tried their Kotteri Ramen I swear to God you haven't lived. It's so addictive, especially with their special secret not-so-secret garlic chili stuff chunked in, that you can say goodbye to your pho-addiction.

I think I'm like the only person on this island that is always early for things. Hy guys, I work WAIPIO side... I need to pre-plan for any weird accidents or stalls or rock slides if I have a meeting in town.
Thank GOD for Fresh Cafe, holy crap. It's totally smack dab in the middle of where every friggin meeting in town takes place, slightly off the beaten path so you won't have to wait in a seven mile long car line to turn. Tiffany is always there playing rad movies on her giant flat screen and I can gobble a cup of corn chowder or drink her special marshmellow latte (you gotta ask for it special), or pick from any of her baked goodie jars while I wait for my meeting to start or for my man to get off work.
This is the perfect place to meet someone that doesn't have an office, btw. Wi-fi!

well, shit. i'm here 4 nights out of the week. sometimes i like cruising in chill mode at the bar drinking a super good prosecco swooning to that acoustic guy jason that used to play at bar 35. sometimes i like being in floor-to-ceiling asian men trying to peel through the crowd to get to the bathroom. sometimes i want to be told by a bouncer that i don't look good enough to get inside (then thankfully get in anyway thanks to sato). sometimes i need to cruise at a place slightly less clubby after doing seven hundred tomato vodka shots at the reopened oceans down the way.
