This is a real, live butcher shop with real, live butchers and really tasty and fresh meat.
The steaks I've gotten from Wally's have all sent me into moaning convulsions of yum.
One of my best Christmases ever included a variety freezer pack from Wally's, which included a wonderful selection of meat and poultry.
Just go in and talk to the guys behind the counter. They will help you figure out what you need.
Highly recommended.People thought this was:

Seriously, though, if you ask me, nothing says "Welcome to Denver!" quite like a demon horse that will make babies have nightmares!
And yeah, it crushed the dude that made it. That's badass art.
You'd better love it or IT WILL FIND YOU!

Fish: Excellent
Clam strips: Good
Chips (fries): Bleh, merely adequate
Definitely a place I'd take my Boston friends - it kind of feels like a Massachusetts clam shack, but it'd sure be better with a beer.
I'm with Bubba, it's a dive, but I like dives with good food.
Next time I'll try the scallops.

Th'ink Tank Tattoo
Category: Tattoo
Neighborhood: Southwest
About the price: Compared to other artists in other cities, I think Th'Ink Tank is pretty affordable, but it's still custom tattoo work so it definitely adds up.
About the work: Holy crap it's good. Everything I've seen that has allowed the artist enough leeway to do their thing has turned out amazing.
About the people: Top notch. All the artists are good folk. We had an issue with one of the desk jockeys once. Once. Now they have great people working there, too.
Fish is my boy. My wife and I have *lots* of work from him, and I can't recommend him enough. I also can't wait to get back in the chair...

Kabob Station
Categories: Greek, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean
We tend to get take out because the place is super-tiny and the service tends to be "functional" at best. Although, if you're in the mood, it can be a lot of fun to watch the staff (who I assume are family) argue with and/or tease each other throughout the night. It's kind of like going to someone's house for dinner.
The food, though, trumps all. Everything I've had has been excellent. I tend to stick to the Kabob Station Combo of the King Combo just so I can get a bit of everything.

One star for the fries, which are really the best in the area.
One star for the sauces, which I like to mix into my own signature style.
Half a star for never fail service (though this consists of taking your order and then bringing it to you, so no big whoop).
Half a star for sweet tea. I mean... sweet tea!
Other than that, I could care less... I know I like it a ton more than KT's.
The atmosphere is better than average, though it's a shame the patio is right on 287.

Best bread for the best put-together sammies out there.
Sure it takes FOREVER to get your warm log of meaty lovin', but it's worth it. Besides, you're not a child for cripe's sake. Every dining experience you have doesn't have to molly coddle you into a stupor does it? Suck it up.
Yes, they will skip you if you're on the phone when you get to the front of the line. Hell yes, they will.
But they will also make you a roast beef and provlone sub on the most magical soft on the inside/crunchy on the outside bread with such a fantastic melange of condiments, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and spicy giardiniera that you will find yourself groaning from the weight of all that happiness.
Whiners can go to Subway.

I love the carne asada tacos big time. I do agree the chips are hit or miss, though.
The service is "minimal at best" but you just kind of get used to it. I've been here several times and as far as I can tell there's one guy who does all the "front of the house" work, so whatever, cut him a break. ;^)
Besides, it's tough to beat the price.

The food is generally good (bangers & colcannon are my fave for sure) and I've never had even the slightest issue with service.
I was fortunate enough to start going there right after they opened so I got to know some of the folks who run it. My wife and I even got the Guinness Float added to the menu. (Try it. Seriously!)
It gets really crowded on live music nights, but now they have spill-over space since they've taken over the coffee shop that used to be next door.
Long story short, we always have this place on our list when we're pondering "Where should we go tonight?"

They need to get some staff trained up in a hurry. If they can't handle taking my two drink order without going all blinky and asking me "what was the middle part again?" they won't be my neighborhood coffee shop for long.
I may have just been grumpy the last time I was in but this has been a downward trend.
4-stars for now because the coffee really is good.

Still, every trip to Wally's turns into a story, and that's why we love it.
