Good Golly Miss Molly.... the Bellymeter is set to fantastically ecstatic. We saw an ad for this place in a Japanese publication over at Sakura Saku and decided to give it a go. Mike F was making the drive down from Palm Desert and had dinner set up with friends & family, so Emily & I met up with them and got to try something new.
We entered around 7:30pm and there was a friendly older gentleman at the sushi bar with his son who was throughly enjoying the fare. He followed the chef from Kitayama to here just for the fish quality (lives on the Newport Coast and HATES driving, but he'll drive here once a week for the fish). First thing he did was order us a bottle of chilled super smooth sake and a garlic-ponzu albacore sashimi dish. The taste? Amazingly good. Thanks Mister! Upon his suggestion, we all decided on Omakase all the way.
We ended up enjoying ourselves there for almost two hours. Super killer tasty melt in your mouth varieties of fish, quite a few of which were flown in from Japan, kept us super happy. (I'll let Mike F get into the dishes on his review...) I'm a bit of a picky sushi eater... and every single thing that came our way made me let my eyes roll to the back of my head and chew slowly to make it last longer. I took lots of pics... lol... had to. Everything looked so nice! And last, but definitely not least... dessert. We had a soymilk pudding with a berry juice layering which was divine. And no tummy rumbling for my lactose intolerant system to boot! I can't wait to come back again. Great stuff abounds here. Don't come for the cooked stuff, although I'm sure it's plenty fine... come here for some fantastic fish.

Under new ownership (Terrible's). Double Deck blackjack only pays out 6/5 here as well as Primm and Buffalo Bill's across the highway. This place has a dingy divey feel to it (in a good way). Usually I can make some money in here and head home with a smile. Wheel of Fortune dollar slots usually pay out ok, but there are only 4 of them and the old timers can sit at one machine for hours on end so it's tough to snake a seat. The food in the cafe is decent, and they certainly dole out monster sized portions.

We used to always hit this place when we were in Vegas back in the day... even back when they were located on the other side... (don't go as often now since the comps at the Cal are lame) Local plate with beef teri, chicken teri, and spam musubi is killer. Get an extra side of their mac salad as well. Their saimin and teri burgers are decent as well.
