I HEART Horsnyder Medical and Pharmacy!!!

I had been a Walgreens on Soquel customer for 6yrs mainly because they are right next door to my Husband's work - but they stopped allowing my medical insurance as of 2012.  I had transferred my Rx's to CVS on Front St because it was closest to my house.  But instead of receiving a smooth transition I got stuck in the SEVENTH CIRCLE OF RX HELL!!!!!  It turned into such a mess and needless to say my much needed meds were being held hostage!!!

I went into  Horsnyder Medical and Pharmacy and explained my problems.  Within 5 mins of being there they took all my Rx #'s and insurance info and gave me meds free of charge to hold me over until Tuesday when they could get EVERYTHING straightened out and transferred!!!  THEY ARE AWESOME!  I shook the Pharamastist hand and walked out.

THANK GOD this place is all the way in S.S.F or I would be a HEFFER!  

My Hubby and I were staying outside of the City for our wedding anniversary and we were determined to try a place we had NEVER heard of and the "dive-ery" the BETTER!  We have done expensive excellence before....tonight we wanted cheap, yummy goodness!  And Man did we find it!

We went around 5:30 and the place was BANGING!  I mean there was at least 25 people in line and we were # 26&27.  There was one cashier and he was helping the 1 cook, but we decided it had to be worth the wait.  People were chowing happily around us and I saw one woman literally have a FOOD-GASIM when she bit into her sandwich!  While we did wait quite a bit for our chance to order is gave a chance to enjoy a spirit.

We decided on the Pork Fries, Pork Tenderloin Sandwich and Sweet Potato Tots....Nothing was disappointing - ESPECIALLY the Pork Fries!  I could eat a freaking pool full of these yummy stoner munchies!!!  The more settled on the plate they got, the BETTER they tasted!!!!  When I went back to get a to-go-box for the tots I had to tell the guys in the kitchen how FREAKING AWESOME their food was and how amazing they are for pleasing such a HUGE crowd.

My only complaint would be the lack of seating and the disjointed food delivery...but all in all this PLACE WAS AMAZING!  Def want to go back!!!!

If I could give Moana 10 Stars I would!  Not only is she an AMAZING barber (My Husband Jerry, Father Mikel  and Mother Kathy are all clients) but she is an AMAZING PERSON!  She goes above and BEYOND EVERY TIME!  When my Father fell sick and was confined to a hospital bed in home, Moana came to his house and not only cut his hair - but she chilled and chatted!  What other Barber would do that for a client?  And EVERY TIME my Hubs get his "fenders" trimmed she is warm, inviting and cuts his hair PERFECT!  She will also go out of her way to point my Hubs to the products he is looking for even though she has a waiting room STACKED with clients.  All in all she is good people and damn good at what she does!

We have eaten the pizza at PP across the street and enjoyed it, so we thought we would give this place a try.  We are so burnt on Chili's and wanted the same sort of family dinning feel.

We walked in, we were greeted immediately and sat at the first booth next to the server's station.  Wasn't too fond of the booth, but whatever.  We were not greeted by our server or even given menus within the first 10 mins.

When we finally were greeted by our server (a washed out Katy Perry knock off) it wasn't very personable and we could already tell we were in for a bumpy ride.  The first star deducted was due the lack of greeting and menus....the next was for the lack of featured beer they had listed on their menu!  We placed our order for drinks (1 beer, 1 coke and 1 1/2 apple juice 1/2 water) and our food and sat and waited....and waited.....and waited.  Finally Katy Perry comes back and tells us she has been struggling to tap a keg and would be out with our drinks shortly....so we go back to waiting, and waiting and waiting.....again she comes back and asks if my Husband would be ok with a different beer - FINE!  So we wait another 10 mins and finally get a beer, a coke and a apple juice with NO WATER in a glass for a TWO YEAR OLD!!!  Talk about disaster waiting to happen...no lid, no straw.  We at least ask for the water, so we can dilute the damn juice ourselves and again SHE DISAPPEARS!  Brings me my salad 10 mins later - NO WATER.  So finally my Husband just gets up and serves himself some water from the bar.  

After more waiting, she bring a SCOLDING HOT plate of fries to my 2 yr old son - NOT COOL.  Then another 10-15mins later we get our pizza.

Offered to refill on the coke, yet my Husband got another beer.  We request a box, after a LOT MORE WAITING, we get a box and a check.  She leaves, comes back, buses our table - LEAVES THE CC & CHECK.  Another waitress comes by buses our table AGAIN, doesn't take the check.....so we go back to waiting, and waiting and waiting.....

Finally we pay and bounce!  All in all, we were sat at 6:30 and didn't leave the damn place until after 8pm. It is a Thursday, they were fully staffed and only about 1/2 the place was filled.

SO I SAY SKIP IT!  If these people can't have their act together with locals, they are not going to survive the weekenders!  I have learned my lesson - I will just stick to picking up my pies from PP across the street.  At least there I do not have to WAIT FOR FOREVER or leave a more then generous tip.

I drive from Central Santa Cruz to order their pies. The staff is always super cool and the prices are reasonable. I recommend The Borden or the Veggie with pepperoni added. By far their pizza is the best next day! Throw a slice in the oven at 350 for 10mins....perfection!

If you like a little extra oregano in your sauce - YUM!

Our GE Refrigerator went kaput over the weekend.  I called All State first thing Monday morning and had a service appt. within 45 mins.  Considering we went all weekend living out of an ice chest and losing more and more food by the moment - THIS WAS GREAT!  Carlos was our tech.  He listened to my description and had the problem diagnosed within minutes of inspection.  He took the time to explain the issue and set out to retrieve the replacement part.  All in all the service took 1 hour and our refrigerator is working again!!!

If you are looking for responsive, great customer service with reasonable pricing - CALL ALL STATE!

The long short of my review is: I WILL be going back!

If you read all of my past reviews, you will see that I have tried several different places and try to get waxing done regularly.  I do LOVE Sue at Simply Skin, but unfortunately her Brazilian wax price is no longer in my budget (I used to go when working full time and not a mother).

I heard about this place a few weeks ago on the radio.  They offered a FREE wax to first time clients and boasted about their clean and convenient locations.  I called on Friday and was able to pick an appt time for Sunday (they were wide open).  I thought calling that late I would for sure not get in...not the case.  The gal on the phone was pleasant, well spoken and helpful.  I was informed over the phone that they had a 5 minute late policy - I didn't ask details, but I thought the concept was lame.  I NEVER run late, but I still thought the policy was a bit ridiculous.  I mean, they are located in a beach community - so they are going to make a KILLING on that policy - lol.

I arrived 10 mins early and was greeted by a cheery receptionist.  She was nice enough making conversation while she checked me in.  I told her no need to rush due to me being early.  Unfortunately thanks to her OVERZEALOUS sales attempts on their waxing packages - I GOT SUPER ANNOYED!  I hate being pressure sold - ESPECIALLY at Spa/Waxing apts.  I mean come on.  If you were about to get your lady bits ripped off - wouldn't you prefer some QUIET TIME?  Not to be hassled, would have been preferred.  I tried EVERY polite way of trying to give her the hint, but she wasn't taking it.  Personally why would ANYONE buy a 9 wax package before they have not even had 1?  That is just stupid!!!!!  I told her finally, I want to see how my first time goes and I would let her know.  

My wax person was Erica - she was GREAT!  She was pleasant, thorough and cared about what she was doing.  We chatted about technique, my past waxing experiences and life in general.  She was quick, courteous and professional.  I wasn't up-sold on anything, but she made a recommendation for product - which was fine.  It turns out I needed what she was recommending, so all was good.  The end results were good for not having been waxed in awhile.  So overall, I am happy with the results and my first time price was $20!!  I still can't believe I got a Brazilian for $20!!!

When all was said and done, I walked out with Erica and she got me the serum I wanted to buy and she left me with the Receptionist.  Before I could even say I wanted another appt she blurts out "Erica would like to see you in 4 weeks.  So you are all booked for (Date), (Time)."  UMMMM, ok - I thought this was helpful but VERY PRESUMPTUOUS!  I know it is not her, possibly this is how she was trained - but come on???  Then again she asks me if I want to purchase the friggin package again????  WTH?  NO, NO, NO, I wanted to scream.  But I just smiled and told her I would still be thinking about it.

So, all in all, I am happy with the actual waxing.  I cannot argue with the price.  However, EWC loses a one star (could have been two) because of the reception experience.  Just some advice - if you are going to be in sales and customer service - YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO READ YOUR CUSTOMERS - that will get you far in life and in your job!

There is a special place in hell reserved for people that profit off others.  I say give your business to Baby Bloomers or The Little People's store.  They offer fairer prices and more bang for your buck on trade ins!  Just my opinion.

After reading 6 reviews I agree with BOTH sides.  Yes, Jennifer has a kid friendly space, is quick, does a great job and does treat the kids with a reward at the end.  BUT, both times I have been in her salon (once with a client and just last week with my own son) she has failed to win me over with her personality.  Beyond her initial greeting, she just sort of "goes through the motions," but doesn't really engage.  For someone who is dealing with children, you would think she would be a bit more animated and into the experience.

So I give her 4 out of 5.  I realize that we all can't be glowing balls of personality 24/7/365 - however, when you are catering the the kiddy crowd - EXPERIENCE is everything.

The Russian saleswoman that works in the 6th floor men's department is a TOTAL C-BISCUIT!  I essentially did her damn job for her!  I say skip this overly priced pretentious place.  Definitely NOTHING like their flagship store!
