yeah, man. i dig the sweatshop. not the most decked out place but cool vibe. the people hanging out there can sometimes come off as pretentious but who am i to judge. the staff has always been friendly and helpful. i'm glad i have my own drum room but when my band needs a room i always look forward to rehearsing there. i kinda wish they would throw events there where people can check out different acts in each room. probably not feasible but what the hell.

I walked in for a haircut after reading the reviews here and was pleased with the overall experience. Caroline gave me a clean smart cut. I'd definitely go back to her again. After my cut I decided to get the 30 minute facial for $30 with Gail. I'd never had a facial before and figured it could do me some good. It turned out to be very relaxing and the results were great. Gail seemed knowledgeable and very experienced. She also gave me a 20% discount for my next visit. I think I'll just set my wife up with an appointment this weekend. Nice staff, nice results. Cool with me.

i didn't expect to find so many bad reviews for this place.
the first thing i had there were the chile rellenos and i was impressed with the preparation and flavor. i've been back a couple times for enchiladas and have been happy each time. the rice is so-so but the beans are pretty good. i'm a south texan born and raised. eaten mexican food all my life and i've had much much much worse mexican food in nyc than what they serve. best ever.....no, but not bad.
margaritas there are good also.
i'll probably try the fajitas next time. someone ordered them while i was there and they looked and smelled worthy.
i hate disagreeing so widely with a fellow texan when it comes to mexican food but i guess we can agree to disagree. even though they probably don't know what they're talking about. just kidding

Great Lakes was part of my first bar hopping excursion in Park Slope a few moths back. Not too shabby. It's divey, pretty cheap. Good rock blasting. I've been able to hold some decent conversations there so no complaints on the volume. I haven't been there during peak weekend hours but the late night vibe is interesting enough.

this is my first review so i figured i'd write about a place i like.
the layout rocks.
i've been in plenty of music shops and it's nice to have room to roam.
the staff is cool but the drum reps are especially helpful.
i've bought  all types of gear there from guitars, cables, pedals, straps, drum heads, sticks, accessories. i plan on getting one of the new dream cymbals they started carrying not long ago. and my next kick pedal will def be from there.
the audition rooms beat anything else i've come across in the city.
prices are comparable to guitar center and they have a better inventory.
keep it up!
