Burbank Auto Detail

So - please read my last review for Burbank Auto Detail too (5 Stars from the start!)

In it I said I hoped nothing else would happen to my car anytime soon...

Well about 2 weeks after I said that I got the stomach flu and while my husband tried to get me in the car to go to the ER I vomited EVERYWHERE. All over the passenger seat, floor, everywhere.

The smell - as you may imagine - was gag-inducing.  After spraying some Oxi-Clean on it for some preliminary treating, we brought the car to our favorite Car place for some help.

After leaving the car there overnight, and $125 ish, we had a completely clean, nothing-smelling car! It was amazing.  The car looked cleaner than I had EVER seen it.  I could tell they cleaned more than just the passenger side.

This place is just incredible.

I thought that a 5 star review, with over 60 reviews meant a lot winking and nudging and perks for writing reviews.

    Nope, I was wrong.

This place is worth its weight in gold!  The manager is the nicest car guy I have ever met.  On the phone I informed him I had a lease to return with scratches... the shop down the road quoted me a minimum $75 for 4 hours, no more no less. This guy tells me to stop by and he immediately puts my mind at ease.

He told me how well I kept the car, and that most shops would buff the scratches out for a lot, but that's because they would insist on doing the whole car even if it doesn't need it.  He took out his machine, did 3 little spots, and charged me $30.  I didn't know my car could look so amazing! Just brand new!

While he was working on my car I noticed some bigger damage on the bottom of the side bumper and asked for his advice.  He immediately referred me to a guy nearby and said he stood by his work too.  I didn't end up needing to get it repaired, but this guy was the best.

I hope nothing happens to my car anytime soon *knock on wood* but if it does, I'll be so happy to bring my business back to Burbank Auto Detail!

Santoro's Submarine Sandwich

Santoro's is not the easiest location to spot when you're driving down the street - but once you start noticing the cars piling up on the side of the street you know you're there.

Santoro's has a seriously loyal lunch crowd.  Two of the three times I went there, there were 5-6 cops sitting there eating their sandwiches.  The place is small but busy - with the owner himself there almost every day making your sandwich.

Everything is super fresh - and I have had the Pastrami sub twice, and the Italian once.  I loved both - and the final touch they do is add diced pickles tomatoes onions and herbs to the top of every sandwich - that little extra attention makes a big difference.

Bring cash as I think there may have been a charge for card charges under a certain amount!

PS - parking on the street is nearly impossible to find, so turn into the vet's parking lot next door, drive through to the back alley, and behind Santoro's there's extra parking.

I have never liked sandwiches much.  I am a jalapeno pepper, Chinese Five Spice, Hoisin Sauce kind of girl....

And yet since I had a pastrami sub with zuchinni fries from Lee's, I have been craving it like a maniac!

Everything here was amazing, from their house-made pickled cucumbers and carrots (yum!) to their delicately crispy-fried zuchinni fries (that had NO fat dripping off them), Lee's is the real deal.

Freshly made to order, prepare to wait a few minutes... and make sure you bring cash.

Caution: if you're on a tight budget I would recommend NOT EVEN TRYING LEE's.  BECAUSE YOU WILL WANT TO COME BACK EVERY DAY.

You know what?

I REALLY liked this place! Came here at 9 pm just Dec 30th, day before New Years Eve.  THe place was pretty empty, and I was feeling sorry for everyone that had to be working...

But apparently I shouldn't be feeling sorry for them, because they were chipper and happy! Our waitress was incredible - peppy, friendly, smiling, attentive, and we probably received the best service I have ever received - ANYWHERE! (*gasp!) and I am not lying. All those expensive fancy restaurants - eat your heart out and learn from the servers at Harry's!

I also rarely (can count on ONE hand) tip more than 20%... the service usually doesn't warrant it.  But 30/40% was necessary here. She was awesome.

The food came out in lightening speed.  I think we waited a total of 7 minutes for my Huevos Rancheros and my husband's Cobb Salad to come out.

The Huevos was amazing.  Had a little kick to it and steaming hot. The plate was huge and so you get incredible value for your money.

MUST EAT AT HARRY'S!

I am probably Fox's #1 Fan.

As an extremely frequent flyer (every week for about 40 weeks a year), I find Fox's parking solution the most convenient of all of LAX.

Valet - Check
Friendly staff - Check
Fast shuttle - Check
Convenient - Check
Safe - Check

No walking around the parking garage at 2 am looking for your car, scared about any characters around, your car is safe and watched over the entire time, 24 hours a day.  And you don't need to walk around after a long flight.

Text your reservation number when you land, jump on the shuttle, and by the time you arrive at Fox, your car is waiting out front.

They have cheap rates all the time, and if you want to make the extra effort, you can print coupons from their site and get an even better deal! ($7.95 daily rate on non-holidays).

I will never park anywhere else.

Super fast, super convenient, super friendly.

We had a screw in our tire, and within 20 minutes we were back on the road.  $15.

I love not being ripped off, and would definitely bring more business back.

MUD

I would give MUD 3.49 stars.  Rules of rounding brought it down to 3 Stars.

I absolutely love the vibes.  But I probably liked it more because the line that grew down the street came BEHIND me.  If I were at the end of that line, I'm not sure I would have eaten my brunch here!

Obviously a very popular little hangout for people.  The menu is by no means cheap, and the restaurant is banking on its universal popularity when they don't accomodate their customers.

My husband has severe dietary restrictions and all we wanted to do was substitute some toast that came with his eggs with some fruit. Not possible.  Then he was going to go with salad, but is allergic to everything but olive oil and red wine vinegar.  They couldn't accomodate that either.  So I ended up eating his sides, and he could only have his omelette (which he loved!)

THey have Brunch menus for $14.99 which includes an entree, and fresh OJ.  THe OJ was served in mason jars which added to the hipster vibe, and I ordered a "Wicked Hot Chocolate" which was disappointingly lukewarm and only had a kick in the first sip.  I wish there had been more Cayenne Pepper (or Chinese 5-Spice, whatever their secret spice was) swirled throughout the drink.  I would not order that Hot Chocolate again.  The OJ was fantastic though - could have had 5 more glasses!

I had the Avocado sandwich and it was good - the homefries were good too. But nothing was great.  And after dishing out over $60 for 3 people the food really has to be spectacular to spend that much on brunch.

Fantastic tiny little dive.

Greek-owned, as most great diners in NYC are (Greek or Jewish!).

Came in and had a fantastic large breakfast of eggs and bacon, with homefries and toast.

The toast came buttered, and I ordered Rye but got white... either way it was good.

The homefries were incredible.  We also got a side of fresh fruit and had the sweetest orange sections ever!

The waiter was so grumpy with other customers it was entertaining to watch. It's just around the corner from the Holiday Inn so it was incredibly convenient.

CVS Pharmacy

5.0 star rating
Update - 11/22/2011 30 Check-ins Here
Time has made all the difference, and CVS has proven itself to be amazing in several different ways. I love the pharmacy people.  The lines do tend to get long Saturday mornings, but that's because of all of the personal attention they give you.  They always remember my husband and I and are friendly and courteous.

I also am OBSESSED with CVS rewards, I get lots of CVS cash rewards and sometimes come out with a bag of stuff for $5! Watch out for items that give you CVS cash! It will be worth it!

I know from the store manager that theft happens at this location every single day which shocked me.  It's sad that when people work hard, it's just taken under their noses.

PS watch out with the lipsticks, sometimes even the lipsticks with a sticker seal have been carefully unstuck, used, and restock.  Yeuch.  Stupid people!

This CVS is right by my house, and it serves my needs fine.

I mostly come here for the Pharmacy (way closer than Target Pharmacy) and the lines to drop off your prescription CAN be long.  Especially on Saturday mornings.

The line to pickup your meds can be long, too... I don't really know what takes so long, but I figure, I don't know medicines and how complicated it gets - I'd rather they explain to each person the side effects etc than risk anything!

I usually get my Happy Birthday/Happy Wedding/Happy Baby cards here too... or the last minute gift card/ wrapping paper...

The store is clean and stocked - just the waits in line are a little long.

The food here is good... but it reminds me so much of Panda Inn's little brother Panda Express that I balk at the prices.  Maybe next time I should get some take out and join my friends... my orange chicken will be the same as theirs, anyways!

The ambience is nice - moderately upscale.  The parking is a little tricky, especially in the evenings and on the weekends.  Prepare to pay a few bucks for parking.

Service was good, and they're accommodating for big groups.
