The cars are definitely tip top and they have some good sign up specials from time to time ($75 credit for example). However, this service is now more expensive than ZipCar and Mint, so there's little point in using them unless you are in desperate need of a car (or have a good coupon).

Other issues; availability can be suspect at times, since they just have a few cars in each area. Also, despite them telling me they have $5 per hour Smart Cars in the city, I have yet to find one on any day I've checked. False advertising?

In the end, it's probably still better than renting a car from any traditional car rental company in Manhattan. But I'd probably only use them if ZipCar and Mint were full up.

We used Jonathan Skolnick for 2 real estate transactions and he was absolutely great. He's hardworking, diligent, AND he answers the phone, a rarity for NY lawyers :) Do not hesitate to use him for any legal needs.

This branch is so clogged up with tourists and savages that you can't actually do any shopping. It's just a complete zoo. It's a shame too because they seem to have really strong discounts and the occasional 10-20% off coupons on top of it.

If you do decide to brave it, it's a great place to get jewelry and watches if you need something same day. Though, almost everything they sell can be found cheaper online if you have the time.

Great store for antiques and unique home decor. Granted, I've never bought anything because it's extremely expensive (not usually in the market for $15000 marble mantles), but it's always cool to check this place out and see what they have. My current favorite are the old metallic ceiling tiles which they rip out of old buildings and now use for art. Cool stuff.

I love heading to the east side. When you spend 75% of your time on the UWS, it's like visiting another country with all sorts of new restaurants to discover.

We went here solely due to the Yelp reviews and the place was pretty cool. It's like a diner, without the traditional diner look.and feel. Much more like a cafe. And the food was great. I got an avocado and mozzarella frittata with bacon on the side, and it was magic. Loved it.

One star off because the coffee was an embarrassment. I wish NYC cafes and diners would invest in a decent brand of coffee and make it fresh. Do they not realize you can't make a pot and leave it there all day? It's so revolting to get a cup of Saravan or the equivalent that's been sitting there for half a day. Good beans, and fresh pots, gents.

$38 include tip for 3 people, not half bad.

City Limits Diner

Seems to be one of the more prominent diners in White Plains. The decor is horrible; it looks like it was developed as a set for Scarface. Lots of pink, chrome, and glass. I kept looking around hoping to see Frank Lopez, to no avail.

But, despite the crap look, the White Plainsians seem to love it. The place was totally packed when we went by and it even took 10 minutes to get seated.  And being packed, the noise level was intolerable. The consistently clanging plates, screaming kids, and yappy waiters made for an unpleasant hub bub.

All that wait for pretty average food. I got a burger plate and it was decent. Definitely fresh but pretty mediocre. The fries were particularly lackluster. On the positive end, it was really cheap, lunch for 4 was about $50. But I have to say, everyone else seemed to feel the same about the food.

Not sure I'd go out of my way to eat here, but I get the feeling it may be one of the better diner option in the area. So, I'll probably go back and give it another shot.

Whole Foods Market

Pretty much the same as every Whole Foods out there. They have great stuff, tons of raw and organic products, and good prepared foods too. One big downside though...it's so freaking expensive. The pricing makes it very hard to shop here for everything on your grocery list.

This used to be my go to store when I first moved to the UWS, but I later switched to the Associated on 98th and Amsterdam, and my food bill dropped by like 50%. No joke. Granted, it's not nearly as nice as Whole Foods, but it's much easier on the wallet.

Love Seamless. I get something like 25% of my meals via their site! Also love their app for Android, very easy to use. You can order dinner on your phone and have it waiting when you get home. In 3 years of usage, I had 1 problem with a restaurant (out of hundreds) which Seamless took care of immediately. A must if you are hungry and lazy in NYC!

GE Appliance Services

Update - 1/23/2012
Wow...it happened again. Our dishwasher was on the fritz for the second time, so we called to set up a repair. About an hour before the appointment, we get a call saying the technician was "out sick".

Colossal pain in the ass. I made the appointment 3 days in advance and reserved a 1-5pm time slot. Now you give me 1 hr notice that you can't make it? Just a total disregard for their customers.

I actually forgot that they blew us off the first time due to his being "too busy". If I would have remembered I'd probably would have thrown my phone out the window, because its just that frustrating dealing with them.

I guess the NY section of GE just doesn't take their service appointments seriously. They book and if they can make it, fine. If not, you have to free up yet another half a day.

They probably figure they have you at their mercy after you buy. So without much else I can do, I advise you all to NOT buy GE products because the service absolutely stinks. Get your act together GE!

Apparently giving GE a window of 1-5pm isn't enough for them to get a technician out to you.

We had a dishwasher problem and scheduled an appointment days in advance. After killing half a day waiting, the guy calls up at 4pm to let me know that he can't make it because he's busy.

Well, I'm busy too, and I'd rather not be sitting around all day waiting for service people who won't show up for scheduled appointments. What balls on this company. Very unprofessional.

We've been searching for a place in Westchester for ages, using a few brokers, and seeing tons of properties in the process. We ultimately wound up going with Gino Bello and he was excellent; a straight shooter without all of the nonsense you usually get with typical real estate brokers.

Gino found us a great place and was really awesome with how he handled the negotiations. He also had great recommendations for other professional services (like inspectors, contractors, etc.) that we needed. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell in the area.
