2009 was the year I started neglecting Yelp a bit....

For this, it needs to be forgotten right away!

And looking forward to getting back on the Yelp wagon in this new year...

Today was the day i thought i was finally going to have a one on one with the creme brulee cart guy, but i found out that lots of people had the same feeling towards him. I waited nearly 40 minutes to finally get a small cup of his deliciousness. Worth the wait, but next time i think i'll keep looking for him on a real street setting.

Like most people, ended up eating on Mission St. I felt really bad for people who had bought passports and had to wait numerous hours to spend their worth.

Looking forward to an improved second edition.

Street Parking in San Francisco

Street parking in San Francisco is as possible as easily finding the exit at Ikea, meeting a non douchebag guy in the Marina and  walking around a homeless-less Union Square.

Pretty impossible indeed.

If for some lucky reason you do end up with a spot, you'll most likely:

- Get a $50 parking ticket (or $85 if you were fool enough to park in a white zone)
- Get tow and have to pay $300 to get your car back.
- Get one of your window smashed.

Eek! Methinks not!

Update - 5/17/2009 3 photos
This year marks the first time i actually make it all the way to the end, sober and covered with all my normal clothes.  Since i had to work today, I scooter-ed to the finish line before the mass of drunken superheroes, 80s dancers and rainbow brights could make their way out of the panhandle and i must admit that it was not that bad.

I had a line of 50 porta-potties to myself and actually use one that was still virgin, won a rocket boat ticket, got free energy saving light bulbs, enough sample of cheeses and crackers to actually turn into a Babybel, 18 free bottles of POM cafe au lait and a tote bag that reads "Say No To Plumping" with a smiling chicken on it.

So, all of this instead of running into countless overly tanned naked guys proudly showing off their cock-rings, looking like a drunk hot mess halfway thought the 'race', making out with girls, losing my shoes, having beer spilled all over my head, tripping over my own feet, breaking my cellphone, making out with guys, dancing like a hippie, peeing in the bush, loosing my dignity somewhere in the park, and not making it to the Finish Line?

I'm definitely asking to be OFF next year!

FACT #1:  Every frat guy attending B2B seems to be working on a college degree to become the next loud, obnoxious, douchebag, asshole, jerk ex celebrity in rehab on reality tv and is actually very good at it, looking like they are achieving a 4.0 in dickhead 101.

FACT #2:  Woman can act like total sluts for a day without challenging their reputation. Kinda like Halloween. Me Likey.

FACT #3:  Old naked man all walk against traffic to fully expose their wrinkly body and bouncy little..'cane' to everyone to see.  They might make you want to turn gay. If you are a lady. Only.

FACT #4: I'll be back next year!

I LOVE the Curiosity Shoppe.

Every time I find myself wondering around the Mission, I make sure to stop by the CS. It's a small place, but packed with the coolest DIY kits, funky accessories for the house and artsy educational books. Their website is also really good to see what's new and I love just browsing through it. As of now, I bought, for me and for lucky people:

- a kit to make rings out of buttons
- shrinky dink paper!
- a tie with the instruction printed on it
- a DIY duck tape wallet kit
- sunprint paper kit
- a mini picnic table with 4 bottles for condiment, perfect for BBQ
- a origami hamburger set (yes, it's amazing!!)
http://www.curiositysh...

And this is what YOU can buy ME (please oh PLEASE, I WILL LOVE YOU 4EVER!):

- this cool birdie light:  http://www.curiositysh...
- those dart coat hooks: http://www.curiositysh...
- this paint by number kit: http://www.curiositysh...
- this carve-your-own-postcard set: http://www.curiositysh...
- this cool saw necklace: http://www.curiositysh...

Let me know if you wanna buy me more things, I'll give you more suggestions!

Mmmuuah!

Stow Lake Boathouse

I was looking for something special that I hadn't done in a long time.
(I'm on a boat, I'm on a boat!)

I found it at Stow Lake. This place is lovely. A relaxing paradise in the middle of busy SF.
(Everybody look at me cause I'm paddling on a boat!)

Renting a paddle boat brought back memories of my small town, where my family and I would rent a paddle boat for the afternoon and go around the river.
(I'm on boat, I'm on a boat!)

At $24 an hour, it's a bit more expensive then back home, but still worth it.
(Take a good hard look at the motherfucking boat!)

Their rowboats are $19 an hour and you can even bring your dog on it.
(I'm on a boat and it's going fast and!)

You can form small groups and paddle boat race against each other.
(I got a nautical themed Pashmina Afghan!)

Great activity on week-ends, but they open everyday from 10am - 4pm.
(I'm the king of the world, on a boat like Leo!)

After showing off your boating skills, you can get a bite at their snack stand, where they sell hot dogs, ice cream, pop corn and sodi pops.
(If you're on the shore, then you're sure not me -OH!)

Get the Fuck Up!  This boat is REAL!

What do you do when your friend (the one with the car) goes away for the week end and says that you can use said car for errands and the likes?  Well, I don't know about you but me, I'm going on an extended road trip!  Woohoo!

When I realized that I had gone way over the oil change mileage on the car, I took it to Jiffy Lube hoping they would erase all possible signs of my sudden vacation.

Staff were professional. I left the car there and walk to Polk street to get a bite and when I return about 1 hour later, everything was ready and it cost less then $40. On top of the oil change, they had also vacuum the inside of the car. Thank God.

Now that you see how good I am with lent stuff, drop me a line anytime you need someone looking at your car while you're away!  I'll take GOOD care of it!   (secretly brainstorming a list of possible places worth a day trip... shhhh)

Woman's health problems is most likely to be the first thing i'll talk about if i meet you. Until that happen, here, you get to hear everything about it!! You so lucky..!

The last time I had a uti, about 7 years ago, I was freshly imported from Canada and the only reflex I had, considering that's what I would have done in the land of free health care, was to go to the ER.

Big mistake. The bill was something like $700.

This time, I looked around for an AFFORDABLE place.

QuickHealth is IT.  To see a doctor cost $59... You do the math..

Similar to the emergency room, you walk in without an appointment, see a doctor, get a prescription and you're out.  All of this in about 1 hour, depending how many people are there. And this is great because God and Woman know how a uti really freaking hurt and if you don't see a doctor right away you might go postal and stab all the cute puppies you see.

Their hours are great, opened during evenings and on week-ends. They are located in a pharmacy, so you can get your prescription right away.

So thanks to Quickhealth, my urinary track is back on track, my sanity is healed, my wallet isn't hurting and no puppies were killed!

I like how this carousel is strategically located next to the Moscone Centers, serving as a super-sized toy to all the busy business people stressfully walking by. At $3 for 2 rides, why not pause for a second and break a laugh while riding a pink unicorn? (No, not literally, unless you're into that stuff).
