My first (and so far only) visit had it all:

Friendly & fast service. (Cute hipster guy with glasses)
Delicious Treats. (Salted Pretzel & Flourless Chocolate Brownie Cookie)
Strong coffee. (Americano)

I'll be going back, for sure.

The place was charming, the service was excellent (with a healthy dose of good humor) and the food was absolutely amazing.

Despite our best efforts, we had leftovers. We were given instructions on how to prepare the leftovers at home, basically just scramble everything up on the stove. We had family style 1 beef and 1 veggie combo so the leftovers were pretty much a little bit of everything: 10 different dishes + the injera. Wow. The flavors 2 days later melded together perfectly and made another incredible meal.

I will certainly be returning to Bete-Lukas again soon!

Small, charming and comfortable with delicious small plates and a fantastic, eclectic wine selection. I love this place.

Wow! I read the great reviews and decided to stop by tonight for dinner.

So. Damn. Good.

I had a quesadilla with grilled vegetables and the baja sour cream. Totally fresh & delicious PLUS incredibly nice service! I'll be going back for sure. Show owner comment »

I've used this service a few times and have gotten fair to good results. One time I'd actually say it was excellent, but overall, I'm pretty unimpressed with the end product.

However, it's incredibly convenient. Just one call and it's generally pretty simple to get someone assigned to the job, easier than having to find someone new. So, that's why I've returned in the past.

The last time I called Cottage Care, will in fact be my last time.

The day they cleaned, I came home and my door was actually ajar, the cleaner had left her mop & the check at my house and the toilet was clogged.

The woman who was cleaning came back to the house a couple hours later and she did acknowledge that the toilet was clogged, but said she didn't know why and I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I mean, come on, toilets get clogged sometimes.

But, as I'm sitting here writing this review - I'm waiting for the plumber to fix the toilet. I'd hoped my own plunger would do the trick, but after many unsuccessful attempts, I finally called in the professionals.

Guess what he found? A big giant blue washcloth in the tubes.

I did take a picture and plan to send them a bill to reimburse me for the plumber. But, even if they follow through and take care of that without a fight, I'm considering all of their chances used up. Next time I need some help around the house ... it's back to the drawing board.

I'd read lots of mixed reviews and honestly didn't have high hopes. With some exceptions (like Pambiche) I find Cuban food to be incredibly bland and boring. Cuba itself is known for having terrible food, and I can attest to that no doubt!

However, what my friend and I ordered was safe, and ended up being seriously delicious. We just had a few tapas to share: Tostones (always yummers and one of the only ways I can ingest anything banana like), Shrimp and Mango Ceviche, Lechon (marinated pork) with beans & rice and an amazing "Flan de Queso" for desert.

Also, even though it was windy and rainy outside, I had a Mojito and imagined myself escaping the sun at Bar Cafeteria in Havana:

The service was great and there was a live Cuban musician playing the guitar. I know he was Cuban because 1) he was beautiful and there are no people in this world as beautiful as Cubans and 2) I heard him talking to someone as we were leaving and his Spanish was spoken "as if he had a sweet potato in his mouth" which is one way I've heard the Cuban accent described. I think it fits perfectly.

Anyway I thought it was great. And seriously - this flan ...amazing. Flan is typically quite good of course, but this "Flan de Queso" is something I've never had before. A little Google searching tells me it's simply flan made with the additional ingredient of cream cheese. (I did try to make this flan from one of my Google recipes, but it wasn't nearly as delicious as theirs.)

If you do go to the Cafe, don't leave without having the flan. Oh, and if you want to invite me along - I'll likely say "YES!"
