Bob at @HwyAUTO is awesome. I have taken my Tahoe there a few times now, and I am always pleased with the service, quality & price. They are very thorough and will explain each item that needs to be addressed with your vehicle, and they won't recommend things that don't need to be fixed, unlike other shops. I completely trust HwyAUTO.

Prior to knowing about HwyAUTO:  Two summers ago, my car was making that "ding-ding-ding" sound that the car usually makes if the parking brake is on. But my parking brake was not on. So I had to drive around with that annoying sound until I can get to the dealership to get the problem resolved. I remember paying around $300 for that. UGH. After that, I started shopping around for a new place to take the car for maintenance because I felt I way overpaid for that problem.

I met Bob through mutual friends in social media over a year ago and I'm so glad! (Thanks Tanya S!)

Recently, that "ding-ding-ding" sound came back. I thought to myself, "Oh, no. Here comes another expensive fix." And took the car to Bob. He orders the part and fixes the problem. Guess how much the part was? $9.23! Total with labor and tax for this issue: $49.23! Seriously, I'm never going to a dealer again. HwyAUTO is all you need!

They service all vehicles and they're also a tire shop. I'm going there next time I need tires too!

The Cliff Restaurant: View, Food & Service

While enjoying a spontaneous trip to Laguna Beach with the family, we wandered into The Cliff Restaurant while walking around on a gorgeous Saturday morning.

1. View: All I can say is WOW. Once we were seated, I took in the spectacular view. It was a clear sunny day with blue skies and you could see Catalina in the distance. Incredible views of the beach from here!

2. Food: My husband ordered the breakfast burrito and he really enjoyed it. "Nice tasting white cheddar cheesy goodness inside." -Jim Wendt. Me? I wanted to eat light, so I had 3 sides: Scrambled eggs, bacon & an English muffin. Everything was cooked perfectly. Especially the bacon. I love big pieces of perfect crunchy bacon! Yummy! The girls shared a bowl of fresh strawberries. Our 8yo had a hot chocolate and our 3yo had a chocolate milk.

3. Service: Everyone was very friendly and on the ball. The staff was pleasant and quick to serve all their customers.

Since the girls shared fruit, I only had sides and Jim had a breakfast burrito, the price was nice too. It also helped that we didn't partake in any cocktails, as tempting as it was. Total price for a family of 4: $25.00. Not bad for ocean side dining!

We will definitely be back to The Cliff Restaurant. What an awesome spot!

I met Kristin aka @Kgroovy on Twitter a few months ago and was looking forward to trying her cupcakes. When I heard she was going to be at  Cupcake Camp OC in August 2010, I headed over there to try them. I was so sad they ran out! But I was also happy for her at the same time. Her signature Orange Crush flavored cupcake won an award for being the Most OC! Yay Kristin! And then a few weeks after that, I finally had the opportunity to try her cupcakes at a networking event called ConnectOC. All I have to say is.. WOW. They are so scrumptious. You can tell she uses the freshest ingredients. One bite of these heavenly soft cupcakes, you will want to inhale the cupcake so quickly, but DON'T. Take your time, and really enjoy them. So full of flavor! You MUST try the Orange Crush. If you like the soda, you won't be disappointed. My daughter tried the Pumpkin Chocolate Chip on Halloween at the Grand Opening of OC Great Park's Farmer's Market and she loved them. There's even a vegan one for cupcake lovers with allergies.

I'm going to remember Meringue Bake Shop the next time we plan a party. My biggest challenge is going to be choosing flavors. They all look so delicious!

I missed the Taco Dawg on my last couple of food truck runs. Finally caught up with them on 11/10 at Irvine Lanes and was glad I did! I was first in line with Sukhraj B. and was very excited to try their tacos. I had the Taco Mama with chicken, a blend of cheeses, romaine lettuce and sour cream on a soft tortilla. This little taco was not little on flavor. Good stuff! I don't have a lot of words to describe the it, because I inhaled it so fast.

I WILL go into detail on the crazy banana dessert though! Holy mother of sweetness. It's called the Banana Nana Fo Fana and you have got to try it. Fried sweet crunchy tortilla topped with grilled bananas, powdered sugar, whipped cream and chocolate syrup drizzled on top! I had a hard time sharing this dessert with my kids. All I have to say is "Get yo' own!!!"

I heard that they are famous for their Apple Taco dessert. Some crazy cinnamon apple creation with whipped cream and caramel. They sold out during their lunch run, so I didn't get to try it when I was there for dinner. That is next on my list! Apple Taco, you're next.

I am a huge fan of The Burnt Truck. Whenever I see them in the lineup of food trucks, I have to grab one (or two or three) of their sliders. They have a great selection of sliders on sweet rolls and the pricing is so reasonable. Just over 2 bucks per slider. My favorite is the fried chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and gravy. OMG. Had it twice already and I am truly addicted. Their BBQ pulled pork sliders are also yummy. And you haven't had a PB&J until you've tried one of theirs. WOW. Their peanut butter has crushed pretzels in it, they have a different loose jelly creation each time I've tried it (I had a strawberry and the raspberry) and there are sliced bananas in the middle. It's like having a dessert sandwich! The Burnt Truck guys are all very friendly and you can tell they are passionate about their menu items. Minh is awesome! If you see The Burnt Truck in the lineup, try them! Even it the line is long, they are worth the wait!
