Current CrushHello, Taylor Lautner! I'm DOWN.
Thanks so much for helping me pick up a 6 foot fake bamboo tree for my mom! Sorry that I made you lift 3 of them from storage just so I could inspect them. I'm even sorrier that I changed my mind at the register and made you move the ladder across the store to get me another one! My mom loves it, though, and I really appreciate the help!
...also...
Dear Lady-At-The-Register,
Thanks for honoring the sale price for said bamboo tree even though the sale ended the day before. My mom had been eying the tree for quite some time and was waiting for the price to drop. She couldn't be happier.
...and...
Dear Guy-Who-Carried-It-To-The-Car,
You were so nice and helpful! Thanks for making sure that the tree was stored away safely :)
Sincerely,
Juliana
Service wise I don't think I've ever seen a cleaner restaurant. Not only were the tabletops and glasses spotless, but I saw one waitress wiping down chairs - down to the legs and all - in her spare time. The servers were very attentive and exceptionally nice.
On to the food! My Thai iced tea was delicious - sweet, creamy, and indulgently heavy on the tea flavor. Dishes we had:
- Pad Ke Mao Spaghetti: Cathie U chose this and I was a little wary. I didn't think I'd like the spaghetti noodles at all and was very surprised to find that I loved this dish! We got it spicy and with chicken. Yummy yummy. The spice does build up though!
- Green Curry: Flavor wise, this was very good. A little heavy on the coconut milk for my taste but still great tasting.
- Paradise Seafood: I think this is what it's called. It's a mix of squid, mussels, scallops, and shrimp with basil, chili, and eggplant. Probably my favorite dish!
These three things along with our jasmine and surprisingly delicious brown rice made for a fantastic lunch. Can't wait to introduce others to this great restaurant!
When we finally did get to the hotel, we were really excited about our free upgrade to a suite! The suite itself was really nice - huge with floor to ceiling windows and a hot tub. Outside of the room, however, the hotel was less impressive. Clearly this place had once been majorly cheesy (think neon lights, fake plants, loudly patterned carpet) and was trying unsuccessfully to modernize. Not that big a deal, but definitely not what I was expecting from one of the city's top hotels.
Later on that first night, the BF and I decided to head down to the arcade to pass some time. This was a super creepy experience as the arcade was completely deserted but all the games with their loud sound effects and seizure-inducing flashing lights were going at full blast.
It may have been out of the hotel's control, but I just didn't have a good time. I found that there was little to do (even tried walking outside the hotel but the streets were empty) and I couldn't wait to get back home!

Don't know what the bad reviews are for! Not saying that it's exceptional, worth going out of your way for, or particularly unique but it's a solid place for drinks and snacks.
Only critical comment: Change up the playlist! It's months old and consists of approx 5 songs!
The only downside was the line for the photobooth! The guys manning it were really friendly, but there was a lot of confusion about where the food line ended and the photo line began. There should have been a Yelp staff person managing traffic in that room.
Otherwise, great event!

Dudes, the wait is part of the experience! Yea, it's ridiculous and a lot of times inefficient, but what can they do if they only have a certain number of tables and a line out the door? Okay, move...but it's not that easy! They've probably thought about it and if it works for them, then they'll do it.
How do I deal with an almost two hour wait?
- Park car
- Go to Target
- Buy individually packaged boxed wine (rec. the cab/merlot or sangria, but not the white wine)
- Drink to heart's content
That or bring beers with you (Target does not have refrigerated beer)!
Food is awesome, as everyone has said.
The service is super friendly and mostly great (except for the host and his wait times, of course)
Just don't overeat or
1) your stomach will punish you
2) you won't feel like eating another crawfish again for months

Also, I'm familiar with Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants where the servers don't speak much English, but this was the first time that someone seemed offended that I didn't speak their language - they INSISTED on repeating things in Chinese even when I didn't know what they were saying. Sorry that I only LOOK Chinese!
