Passionfruit Cupcake. Frosting was tasteless and melty - I scraped all of it off after one bite. Passionfruit filling was tasty, but cake was dry and bland. Appreciate that they use quality Bay Area ingredients, but don't understand how all that goodness turns into sub-par cupcakes.

Omg, the worst sandwich experience I've ever had! First off, the name is super misleading - the cheese case only contains a sad selection of 3-4 cheeses. I ordered turkey with prosciutto on sourdough (since they ran out of dutch crunch) with their original spread and assorted veggies. I had to wait 30 min for my sandwich. It was 3PM on a Saturday afternoon. I watched as the 3 sandwich makers ambled around behind the sandwich counter looking like they didn't know what to do. I witnessed as one of the sandwich  makers painstakingly worked on the sloppiest sandwich I'd ever seen, and then toss it out because it ended up looking so disgusting. The sandwich I ended up with was low quality and not good at all. Waste of my time and money.

Danny K. and I love coming here for Santouka and browsing around the store for Japanese snacks.

The bakery area is super pricey and not that impressive. I've tried a few things including the macarons and assorted pastries and find that I prefer lighter fare like Kee Wah or Paris Baguette.

Came back for dinner this weekend and gotta say - this may be my new go to Viet restaurant! Got the banh beo, clams with ginger (yes, again!), quails, and crab fried rice. Service was, again, really friendly and attentive. Love it!

Now if I can only get Danny K. to eat canh chua...

Surprised by all of the bad reviews! I really REALLY enjoyed my dinner last night. Got:

Banh Tam Bi - I've only ever had this at home, so was excited to try it at a restaurant. I was not disappoint! Perfect blend of textures and flavors: sweet/salty nuoc mam, chewy pork, creamy coconut milk, crunchy veggies, and soft noodles. I couldn't get enough. I also appreciated that the service double checked with me that this was what I wanted so I didn't end up with something unexpected.

Bo Loc Lac - For the carnivore at the table. Would have liked to have this with vinegar, lemon, salt, and pepper, but it was delicious regardless. Tender beef with a savory, thin sauce.

Sauteed Soft Shelled Crab - Awesome! On the salty side, but sooo good. Slightly sweet and cooked with bits of egg, jalapenos, and green onions.

Clams in Ginger Sauce - Meaty and delectable; sans the grit and fishiness of less than fresh clams. Loved this!

Service was better than expected since the place was PACKED on a Sunday night with multiple parties waiting outside. We got our food and drinks quickly and were completely satisfied with our meal. I agree that this place could probably be cleaner, but it's not different from most other Asian restaurants in the area. Will definitely be back!

Used to LOVE going to Curry House on trips down to the OC. Dropped by for a late lunch yesterday and found the curry good, but a little lacking. I enjoyed the hot oil, though - it adds spice and complements the curry (as advertised)!

For now, I prefer the curry rice over at Maru Ichi - even though they only offer one kind.

I normally don't shop at Pacsun, but came here on a whim and found two really cute tops! People who work here are really friendly and helpful and I didn't have a problem getting sizes I needed since this mall isn't that busy.

Super clean and new. I got a few of my faves - pineapple bun, sponge cake, and red bean bun. All were fresh, soft, and delicious. Danny K. got the chocolate eclair which was also delicious but a bit heavy on the chocolate. We took our snacks (along with coffees from Bitter+Sweet) to a table outside and had a great time stuffing our faces and enjoying a very sunny first day of 2012. Love it!

Super cute new coffee and dessert bar! I got a delicious soy mocha (made with Guittard chocolate) but will definitely be back for the  Humphrey Slocombe!

The feel of this place is really cute - like a fancied up fish house. Came last night for NYE dinner. Service was attentive and really quick (no waiting around for food/drinks here!). Sadly, I wasn't a big fan of the food. There was a prefix menu:

Amaebi - Spiced Coconut Milk, Roasted Red Bell Pepper, Baby Cilantro
- Raw shrimp already has a slimy texture, but pair it with coconut milk and you get more slime with a thicker mouth feel. Flavors were good, but texture was a little off putting.

Hotate Uni Tartar - American Caviar, Baby Winter Leaves, Brioche Crostini
- Can't go wrong with uni! Loved this dish.

Seared Bincho-Toro -Mixed Shaved Radishes, Pomegranate and Japanese Eggplant Namasu Salad, Kahlua Balsamic, Pistachios
- Very bland. I think a sprinkling of sea salt would have gone far.

Ishigarei - Pan Sautéed Seaweed Crusted French Turbot, Citrus Fumed, Dungeness Crab, Beretta Polenta, Sautéed Lotus Root and Mixed Mushrooms
- I enjoyed the sides on this dish. The fish was a little too firm for my liking and didn't taste like anything special.

Washu-Gyu - Top Sirloin, Jamon Wrapped Burdock Root, Celery Root puree,
Sautéed Mushroom, Bacon, Tomato, Shallot, Madera Truffle Sauce
- Not too bad. A little on the sweet side and tasted really similar to a hamburger (may or may not be a bad thing!).

Blue Cheesecake - Candied Kumquats, Honeycomb, Roasted Walnuts
- Really unique and special in my opinion. I normally hate blue cheese, but this super silky cheesecake won me over with it's subtle yet complex mix of flavors and textures. Loved the addition of the candied kumquats, honeycomb, and walnuts!

Sake Flight
- Good, very drinkable sake but...all 3 tasted the same to me!

French Press Coffee
- Really, really good. Very flavorful and rich.

Wasn't too impressed by dinner, but would love to come back and try their regular menu.

Not too shabby! Stopped by here since the wait at One Pot was looong and we were hungry after a long drive back from the niners game. Wasn't expecting much but we got some solid kalbi and service. Wouldn't go out of my way to get here, but a good alternative if you're in the area!
