I had the Pollo al Gorgonzola con Pomodoro Secco and it was very, very good. The chicken was tender and not dry, the sauce was creamy goodness.

Ruen Pair Restaurant

Last weekend the gf and I were in LA and made a trip back to Ruen Pair and gorged ourselves to the point of stomach pains. (Spicy Egg salad, Fried Morning Glory, and Pad Kee Mao... all very, very good)
Service is pretty brisk and the food comes out pretty quickly (although they come out one dish at a time...)
Note: this place is CASH ONLY but they do have an ATM inside the restaurant.

I've been here a few times now and the food is great every time. A friend suggested the spicy fried egg salad and the fried morning glory. Both are very good and I never go there w/o ordering one or both. Service pretty good and the waitresses are very pleasant.
The only bummer is the valet parking but than again who wants to look for parking when you're hungry...
Loved the stars w/ the ppl's name's on the walls, and ceilings - bartender told us it was ppl who frequented the place often. Some of the names looked pretty old. It was a very nice touch.

The biggest mistake was ordering the fried ice cream desert. It was obvious that the ice cream was fried earlier and had been placed in the freezer. The out layer was cold, and stale. LAME! Minus 1.5 stars!

Only thing I didn't like was the house coffee. It came sweetened and with a ton of creamer (similar to McD's iced coffee). I know some ppl like that but I am not a fan of sweet coffee.

The Lavander shortbread cookie was soft in the center but crispy on the outside (exactly the way I like my cookies). The lavander flavor was very subtle and added an extra depth to the cookies that your typical cookie would not possess. It was an excellent cookie.
The americano was pretty good. Strong, and dark just the way I like.
The Trails is an excellent place to come and sit outside enjoy a well crafted baked good and a sip of strong coffee.

The decor is pretty nice and trendy. You walk in and you get the feeling you'd get some good food here.
The service was excellent. Our server was extremely nice and pleasant.
But really the most important part, the food, was subpar. The pizza (had goat cheese and pine nuts... forget the name.) we shared had a great crust - crispy outside, warm and chewy inside, but overall pretty bland. For my entree I had the potato gnocchi. I didn't really like the fact they pan seared the gnocchi and again overall the dish was pretty bland. It did contain some porchini mushrooms (I think...) that was actually perfectly seasoned and was actually the only part of the dish I enjoyed.
For desert our table shared pound cake (had texture similar to that of corn bread and not smooth/creamy like pound cake I remember) and the vanilla creme brulee. The pound cake was nothing spectacular but the creme brulee was excellent.
Overall the experience at B restaurant was slightly below average for me. A C restaurant in my book.
