I like this place too much Elk and Jalapeno, Wild boar, Reindeer, Buffalo, Continental sausage makes some tasty and interesting sausages and Jim's onions and cream cheese on top of a perfectly cooked dog why, that there's a religious experience! Their sides are some of the best around and I just discovered my new favorite diet/veggie food! It's the charred tahini cauliflower! that stuff is almost worthy of me not eating a dog.... I did say almost. Now add to that a decent selection of beers including Great Divide's Titan IPA and yeah, If I had a cot here and a shower some place close by, I could live here.

I guess Tony is the new owner of the coffee shop/restaurant although the previous owners are still making their hot sauces and catering out of the back of the building. Tony is one cool and nice guy that used to kick the sh*t out of people full time as a pro UFC fighter but now is kicking out great food full time and still kicking the sh*t out of people only part-time. As mentioned the food prices are very reasonable as are the coffee and coffee drinks. I had the huevos rancheros and liked the green chile a lot. I think the potatoes could have used a bit more somethin' somethin' either some onion or garlic or tomato or all of the above. They were just a little bit too dry and underseasoned. The from a can tasting refried beans I could have done without though and would have preferred a homemade ranchero style or even well seasoned canned pintos. They weren't bad, they just were no bueno. My friend's Poor Man's Reuben served on thick sliced marble rye was pretty tasty. What I really want to get back here for though is what was smelling soooo good behind the building in the smoker! Tony does a BBQ plate on Friday and Saturday (or was it Saturday and Sunday? I'm gonna call to make sure before I go down there.).

Tiff-erific event per the norm. The Capital Grille moves to the head of "My places to get a great steak." recommendation list. Do they have Stoli pineapple upside down cake on their menu? If not they really, really, should! Amazing event in all conceivable aspects! Being elite is sweet! Great hanging with you all! Big thanks to the STBM Tiffany and The Capital Grille!

Mmmmm tostones! Nicely cooked thin crisp chips served with a chicken potato salad and a mild hot sauce. We had several empanadas including the pabellon criollo (shredded beef, black beans, plantain, and cheese), the reina repeada (chicken salad, avocada, and cheese), shredded beef, chicken, and a beef and potato as well as fried yucca (think of them as killer fries!). Everything was tasty! The pabellon, and reina dough was a lot thicker than the others which were on special (and the pabellon and reina were slightly fluffy which I'm not used to but still enjoyed). I liked the pabellon the best. I definitely want to try their arepas on the next visit and believe me, there will be a next visit!

Squeak, squeak, squeak! I know there's got to be some damn cheese at the end of this friggin' maze!
Some cool stuff here. Dangerous territory for hoarders of "stuff" like the fam and me. I want to draw a real map (including all short cuts), print it out, and sell it outside the store to the unsuspecting rats (like I was!) that wander into this maze!

My cursor jumped back and forth between three and four stars several times before I clicked on the four stars! This is what I think of as more what my friend Matt P calls San Diego style mex as opposed to Colorado chicano mex or Mexicano mex food and as such of the places I've tried with SD style food I give them a 4 star. In the hierarchy of Denver mex food though I'd give them a three. I guess what prompted the higher rating is the "open 24 hours" factor. I've had breakfast burritos, tacos, tortas, and carne asada fries from here and they were all pretty tasty! I used to eat at their W. Evans location fairly often and I think I might prefer that location's flavor a little bit more but this location is closer, has seating, and is newer so when I need a late night Cali mex fix. Here I'll be.

I use to have a cast iron stomach. I think the iron has gotten a little bit rusty.....
I'm trying to cut down my girth so I only tried a couple of the 99 cent tacos. One al pastor and a carne asada. Their tacos are served on a doubled small tortilla maybe three inches in diameter and are pretty tasty. They're not overly abundant on the meat (come on 99 cents!) but decent and like David had mentioned they are served with a grilled cebollito and jalapeno. Salsa bar has some interesting items like the slaw prev. mentioned, red radishes, cucumbers, and some nicely flavored salsas. The people here are efficient and friendly and I like the overall feel of the place. For some reason (perhaps not due to the food here) my stomach didn't appreciate the food. I'll give it another couple tries though and change my rating accordingly.

This is one of those spots I've been meaning to try for a couple of years and it just never worked out. Every time I thought of going, they were closed or when I was near there and remembered that I wanted to eat there, I usually already had eaten. Well, the stars aligned. I was hungry, I remembered, they were open, annnnnd it was pretty damn good. TWO big corn tortillas, nicely seasoned meats, and although the salsa bar didn't have a wide variety of stuff, what there was was unusual and good (though not all of it was fresh. I'm not a big fan of slightly brown limes, or brown and yellow cilantro mixed in with the green...). I tried an al Albanil, a carnitas, and an al pastor taco. My fav of the three was the al Albanil with the chunky crunchy carnitas a close second. The al pastor didn't have any pina flavor that I could discern so not as much to my liking as others I've had. I'll be back. Why not five stars like everybody else? Come on, I only had three tacos. There's a lot more stuff to try before that happens.
