The people running the Bethel are really nice and more than happy to talk to you about it. The woman there offered to take our picture, which was very nice.
They were having a wedding there later in the day, so you might want to call ahead and see if they are open if you are really excited about seeing Melville's pew and the prow shaped pulpit.

The volunteers at the front desk are also very helpful in telling you what is around the area and possible things to visit.
The gift shop has really cute shellfish dolls and Melville dolls. They also have some cool books about the Underground Railroad. Definitely stop by and get a map, poke around their exhibits, and stamp your NPS passport book! 2 stamps are located in the VC.
The artifacts in the museum are very interesting and varied and the mini ship is awesome because its always fun to wander around ships.
Did not stay for the movie, but it probably is helpful to orient yourself to the area. Loved the observation deck with the spyglasses...nice touch.
You might want to check for passes from your library or maybe AAA. It is $10 to get in, which isn't bad if it is just you but can get slightly pricey if you have a few people in your group.
The outdoor seating was quite nice, especially on a late September day.
Totally love the three clawed lobster that is hanging on the wall.
However, it brings a lot of people to the summit that probably should not be there. At the summit, there is a museum, two gift shops, a cafeteria, and a weather observatory.
I probably will not do it again (it is fairly expensive and I got a free ride because of a special program I was doing) but it was an interesting experience to have especially on a day of ever changing weather.
I ordered a burger since I wasn't sure I wanted to spend too much money on food that night and then waited for about 25 minutes to get it...I was very glad that I grabbed a newspaper to read (twice through). When it arrived it was large, but tasted funny...not sure if it was the spice they put on it or what but I did not have the heart to finish it. Luckily, dinner cost about 10 bucks so that was an upside of it.
Would not recommend. Go somewhere else in town...even McDonald's would be better.
There is a pool across the parking lot with three lanes to do laps in (70 equals a mile) and an area for people to splash around in and a hot tub. It wasn't too hot, but comfortable. Admission is free with hotel reservations.
If you do not like having small children running around above you, though, ask for a room on the top floor. That way you don't have to deal with the noise. Also, the rooms are very dark between the lighting and the color of wallpaper.
Either way, it is a good place to stay in a good location.

The hotel staff that we interacted with were polite, if detached. Didn't get to visit the pool on the roof, but it looked nice in the photos. Breakfast was an OK event, nothing too spectacular or horrible. A solid place to stay where you can get a rate for under 200.

The servers were fast and friendly and lunch for the two of us cost 12.50.
They only take cash, so keep that in mind when you go. There is an atm across the street.
