Finding a nail salon you like is as hard as discovering the perfect hairdresser - for you. Nail Time is low key but really good. There's nothing too fancy but the people that work here do their jobs really well and have awesome personalities. Friendly but not gossipy. Warm and genuine. Oh and did I mention they do excellent manicures and pedicures at reasonable rates.
I've been to nicer newer Panera Bread locations, but I've been to this one most often lately as it close to work. The ambience may be lacking, the food is consistent - fresh baked bread, numerous sandwich choices, drinks and even smoothies.
I like the Pick-2 combo but I always end up picking the same two items - half an asiago roast beef sandwich and creamy tomato soup. I really should try the other combos.
Service is pretty good here. And I like the rewards I get from using MyPanera card (free).

This is one of those places that always has coupons in the papers - I wondered why they were practically giving away food. Made me worry a bit but my fears were unfounded. The chips are fresh and endless and service is good, though sometimes slow. Great deals on Combo Plates and a really festive atmosphere.
Tasty, inexpensive (but not exactly cheap) and really FAT burritos! Laid-back atmosphere and friendly smiles. Chronic Tacos are always a good choice when you're hungry.
The coffee is just okay. Come on it's served hot and there are some sandwiches and sweet treats to choose from. Free wi-fi and a friendly staff. Sound like a so-so cafe? Well not quite. So why the 4 stars? It's the ambience people! It's the kind of place you imagine when you picture a cafe - with it's comfy couch and mismatched chairs and that cool Parisienne mural on the wall. Definitely one of my favorite places to chat with friends or to sit alone and read, write or surf the net.
The cupcakes are often too beautiful to eat. But eat them you must - they are delicious and moist without being too too sweet. I love how Meringue Bake Shop is always thinking of creative flavors... consider Orange Crush inspired by yes, the soda, and Dulce de Leche (my favorite).
Definitely better than some over-priced over-hyped cupcakes -- you know which ones I'm talkin' about.

Armando - A Joshua Christopher Salon

I was lucky to have Armando himself chop of 12 inches hair which I donated to Locks of Love (which he turned into a rockin' bob! Yay!)
The salon is located above a jewelry store and is next to the Ferrari dealership. Very, uhm, Newport Beach -- which is why it isn't a surprise that the place was buzzing on a weekday morning - with people getting their hair cut, colored and extended! (Don't they work?)
The thing about the salon is that despite it being located in tony NB, the place is unpretentious. In fact, it's pretty simple... hair stations occupied by independent stylists, a shampoo station and that's it - no zen fountains or welcome treats - just a friendly receptionist and manager, professional shampoo people (hi Antonio) and awesome stylists (Hello Armando and his assistant Ginger!)

Friendly dog-loving staff, clean facilities, awesome groomers!!! They did such a great job with our late dog Boots, an Aussie shepherd that we just had to keep coming back with our new pup, Indie, a crazy wheaten terrier-poodle mix.
The owner Val rocks and so does her crew. Shonnie (spelling?) does a great job styling Indie's fluffy hair (not to mention grooming him).

Hudson Wellness Center

I was in search of an acupuncturist and I found the Hudson Wellness Center near my fave nail salon and dog groomers on Atlanta -- they had both an acupuncturist AND a chiropractor. Miko, the Acupuncturist's needle work (is that what you call it?) combined with adjustments from Dr. Hudson (the back doctor!) and weekly massages have done wonders not only for my carpal tunnel syndrome but also for managing my stress levels. Friendly staff, clean, and just wonderful. Oh and did I mention the massages are $25/hr?

Looking for a noodle fix and something different (from pho or ramen)? This is the place. I can't say I was familiar with Taiwanese noodles before but I will say that the chicken noodle soup is tasty. The first time I tried it I thought it was a bit on the oily side but on my second visit, the fried chicken was served on the side(so it wasn't as oily). My son who LOVES anything with broth - enjoyed the chicken on the side at first then dunked it into the soup eventually. As for me, I ordered the korean bbq w/ brown rice - now you really can't go wrong with korean bbq but what made the dish special was the jaja sauce it was served with. What a flavorful surprise.
The owner is really nice w/c makes the dining experience more enjoyable. Clean place, simple straightforward menu - I'm definitely coming back. Next time, I'll try the spicy beef noodle soup for sure (ooh, tendon).
