Go here if you want uber cheap happy hour drinks. $2 Yeunglings until 9pm...sometimes till 10pm (depends if the owner is there). There is nothing particularly special about this bar. It's really dark and red inside and can feel slightly depressing if it's super nice and sunny outside. They have burlesque and live music on the weekends which can be fun and entertaining. They also have live comedy during the week.
The food here turned out to be a nice surprise. I went in there on a whim without a reservation thinking this could either be terrible or pretty good. Thankfully it was the latter and we got a pretty good table. The antipasto was interesting. I thought the pickled onion was a nice touch. The ravioli was pretty good, a little sweet for me to eat as an entree. It was certainly interesting with the cantaloupe shavings. I enjoyed the seafood risotto. It could have been a tad bit hotter when it came out but overall it was pretty tasteful. Unfortunately, the swordfish was a little dry and it came with this ice cream at the end that I had to immediately wash out of my mouth. However, overall, the service and presentation is very good and the food is better than average. The prices are similar to that of Lupa which makes me feel this place is slightly overpriced. I'm going to give it 3 stars for now (its really a 3.5, no halvsies on Yelp = fail). I'll be going back to try their tasting menu and more. They can only go up at this point. Stay tuned.
I have yet to find a Korean place in the East Village that satisfies me. Bibim Bar is ok in that respect. They have pretty good prices especially during lunch time. It's not the best bibim bap but its not terrible. The food is ok, service is a little non-existent. It's a good atmosphere if you need a relatively quiet environment to talk and want to generally be left alone. If you want good Korean food an acceptable price you really have to go to Flushing Queens or find a Korean Mom. Sorry.

Luke's Lobster
Category: Seafood
Neighborhood: East Village
I genuinely think the lobster rolls here are pretty good. The small for $8 almost gave me a heart attack because its super teeny so go with the big one. The lobster has always been fresh the times that I've been and mine have never been drowning in mayo. I've seen that other people have said theirs were...maybe it depends when and who is making yours. I always believe that places that drown their lobster rolls in mayo do so to cover up the fact that their food is not fresh, or they just don't know what they're doing. I'm glad at Luke's I've been able to taste the lobster and not just mayo. One thing I would suggest is that I think they should toast the bread a little bit. The prices are a little high for the amount of food you get. If you want to go with something cheaper they have other rolls, like the crab roll, which is also pretty good.
I've been here a few times only for dinner and I haven't been disappointed yet. Their oysters are fresh and delicious. Their dishes are light and flavourful. They make a pretty decent martini too. Good food, good atmosphere, decent service. Last time I went, my friends and i ordered tapas style. I've been to some pretty horrible seafood places in NYC so in comparison this place is pretty wonderful.

Pearl Oyster Bar
Category: Seafood
Neighborhood: West Village
I love seafood and this place is terrible. Pearl Oyster Bar wouldn't be such a disgrace if the price tag actually matched the quality of the food. I don't understand how people gave this place 4/5 stars. The seafood is hardly ever fresh and yes I've been here several times, at different hours on different days. For an oyster bar, serving 1-2 types of oyster is just completely misleading. The shrimp cocktail was awful. The shrimp was actually completely stale last time. As for the lobster roll...it's just absolutely horrible. It's too greasy with too much mayo. Why am i paying so much to taste mayo? Way overpriced for what it is. It also doesn't help that the service always seems to be lacking or non-existent. Bad food + Bad service = Bad review. If you want good fresh oysters and seafood go somewhere else like Aquagrill.

This place is ok. I've been here a few times and tried out a good chunk of the menu. The only thing that's good is their mac n cheese with chorizo. It's a nice atmosphere and they have a cute back garden. Food and drink wise the food should be cheaper for what it is.

Nice atmosphere. Nice staff. The food and drinks were good and all in all it has always been a pleasant experience. The first time I went one of my friends was uber late and they still tried hard to seat us. It took them a little longer than they expected so they comp'd our drinks at the bar. FTW! I've only had dinner here but everyone seems to be raving about the brunch so I'll have to go try that out. This is more of a place for people who like game. I would say it's Cookshop's 'thang'.
I have no complaints. Beer is half off during happy hour. Can't go wrong with some Porkslap in a can neither. Royale with cheese is pretty tasty. Their veggie burger is also a nice alternative. Chicken sandwich? Sure! Why not. I like this place better than Corner Bistro. Nicer atmosphere, I love the back garden (heat lamps for the winter) and quite frankly I think their burger is better. It's probably one of the best burgers you'll find in the east village along with great service and nice staff. Unfortunately the prices have gone up a wee bit but it's still a good time. I gave it 4 stars because even though it's not the best burger I've ever had in the city and i'm not a huge fan of their onion rings and fries, it's a great atmosphere.
Date

I went in with pretty low expectations (no offense) but I was pleasantly surprised. I liked their bun and the burgers are pretty sizable. They have an extensive menu that caters to everyone's food needs. We ordered a bunch of different types of burgers, salad and sides. Everything tasted quite good. I liked their bun and the burgers are quite large. I didn't like that I had to order fries on the side considering it was about 8-10 squids for a burger. I moved back to nYC 2 years ago so I've probably just been spoiled with fries being included.
The atmosphere also feels almost like a date spot, which is slightly odd to me being that it's a burger joint. I don't care how gourmet the burgers are...a burger joint is still a burger joint. We sat between two couples that were clearly on a (first?) date. Nothing like watching two people desperately trying to hide good ol burger juice dripping from the sides of their mouth and fingers while still trying to impress and be sexy. Ha!
Go here if you want a good burger and you got at least £10 to burn.
