I thought this was a very nice hotel. Right by the water and so close to the Gaslamp District. You can walk to tons of restaurants. And it has great views of the bay (if you're on the right side, otherwise you get the city). Checking in was quick and easy - surprising since there was a conference going on and it was quite busy. They have valet parking, but you can self park as well.

Room was standard for any Marriott. Wonderful shower stall - the fancy kind with glass door/wall and no tub.

I didn't try the restaurant or bar, but was happy there was a Starbucks in the lobby. Only used the pool area at night. They have a nice set up with fires and seating. During the day, they give out pool towels - very handy.

Things that I felt could be better: shampoo/soap was the same kind as you get in all lower category Marriotts (I usually see better stuff in the higher categories), towels seemed a little thin, and the toilet paper is terrible.

Came here straight after getting off an airplane on my weekend in San Diego. Figured at 8am on a Saturday, the wait wouldn't be too terrible for 2 people. We waited about 30 minutes. At least they provide complimentary coffee for the wait.

FOOD: Had so much trouble deciding, but I got the breakfast tacos; boyfriend got the breakfast pot pie, and we split a red velvet pancake. Tacos - 3 of 'em, very filled, though lacking a bit on seasoning. Good balance of veggies and non-veggie though. Breakfast pot pie was very flavorful. Their gravy is delicious. And the red velvet pancake - just like a dessert. Could never eat more than half and too sweet for breakfast. But definitely a must try.

ENVIRONMENT: It's a big big space. With seating for all different sizes of groups. Feel is very trendy college dorm. Like I could pick up their decor at Urban Outfitters or Delia's. There's also tons of light from the windows.

SERVICE: A bit slow but really friendly. And since I wasn't in any rush, I was happy with it.  Besides, my pet peeve is being hurried when you know there's a line out the door.

Came for dinner after passing by on a different night. Interesting menu, wish I could try it again.

FOOD: Started with arugula and watercress salad, then entrees were the burger (wild style) and buffalo bolognase. Salad is a great starter for such a meat heavy place. Burger - so good, get it. And the fries that come with it are so truffle oil heavy - it's pretty awesome. Bolognase - standard. Hard to tell it's buffalo, so I wouldn't recommend.

DRINKS: Awesome. Got the Monks Gone Wild and the English Tea. Both were pretty sweet. Neither tasted very alcoholic.

ENVIRONMENT: We came early on a Sunday, so it wasn't crowded and it wasn't terribly dark. Mostly two tops. And a bunch of strange animal artwork on the walls. Also, the train is strangely loud when it passes by.

SERVICE: Wonderful, friendly, prompt service. Very good about making sure you have enough drinks.

Just came to grab a drink and some appetizers. Hotel was nearby and this restaurant had a wonderful patio right on the water.

FOOD: Had the clam chowder, cheesy garlic bread, and some oysters. Everything was good, though nothing outstanding. I should also say that I'm not a fan of raw oysters, so those were lost on me.

DRINKS: Coronado red beer and a bloody mary. The bloody mary was very good, just enough spice. The beer was just OK.

ENVIRONMENT: Perfect patio for early evening/late afternoon. Right on the water. Spacious. Just great. This is probably the reason you should come.

SERVICE: Very nice waitress. Good at answering our questions and friendly. Patio/bar area was seat yourself.

Came with three friends for brunch on a Sunday. Got there 45 minutes before they opened and there were already names on the list. It's a wait, but what good brunch place isn't around SF.

Unfortunately, due to location, meh food, and the way the ordering goes, I probably won't be back.

FOOD: Got the sweet Dutch pancake with the homemade ricotta (quite good). Tried a bite of the poached eggs on polenta (probably the best thing on the menu). The fried egg sandwich looked great, but the eggs in jail looked just ok. The toast with jam and butter was delicious, just wish it was more than two pieces of toast (the bread really is amazing).

DRINKS: Just ordered coffee and a lemon ginger cider. Cider was very lemony. Coffee was dripped into a carafe to order, but it didn't feel overly special.

ENVIRONMENT: Best thing about this place. It's cozy. With a cute woodsy feel - wood paneling, green flooring, nice natural light. They are able to open the big windows up, which when we were there was chilly, but could be nice.

SERVICE: This is where the place failed me. There's no indication on how you're suppose to order - hint: you get up and go to the counter to order and pay. This is not only confusing to new customers but there's a line of customers inside waiting to order. It makes the place feel unnecessarily crowded (and it's not a big place). So, we were one of the last tables to order, and everything took a long time (maybe because we were last). And when they did bring things, the servers never said anything - they'd just drop things off at our table. One of these happened to be a check - because we thought they forgot our toast/jam, so they charged us again. We were very confused.

Came with my mom and boyfriend at the recommendation of my sister. I've always been wary of fusion food. But this does a great job at bringing asian flavors into dishes without being overly forced or gimmicky.

FOOD: Started with chicken livers/baby greens and mussels. Entrees had pork chop with pomegranate/currant sauce, sea bass, and lamb chop special. The mussels I could pass on next time. The chicken liver with salad was great. All the entrees were delicious - the winner being the pork chop (and I don't even like sweet sauces with meat usually). And the boyfriend liked the sea bass even though he's usually not into fish.

ENVIRONMENT: Tiny! Gotta make those reservations. And because of the coziness, it gets a little bit loud. But nicely decorated with photographs.

SERVICE: Friendly and prompt. They also had a lot of specials, so props to the waitress for remembering all of it.

Came for brunch. Not busy and you can make reservations - love.

FOOD: Ahi tuna tacos, mac and cheese sticks, french toast with berries, and corned beef hash. All of it was tasty. But the standouts to me were the tuna tacos and mac/cheese sticks. I'm always worried about mac and cheese things because often they're flavorless - but these are sooo good. I believe this bodes well for when I come back for dinner.

DRINKS: We got bloody marys - and they were ok, not blown away.

ENVIRONMENT: Spacious. With an upstairs as well.

SERVICE: It wasn't too busy. And you can make reservations - love! Otherwise service wasn't over the top exceptional but definitely just fine.

Overall, I was unimpressed. Everything was just "eh", nothing to write home about.

FOOD: Got the mac and cheese as an appetizer. Oh my god, huge onion rings, but otherwise, it was just ok. Entrees we got fried chicken and the kobe burger. Fried chicken - good texture (crispy, light), but not a lot of taste. Needed salt or spice or something. Burger - great - quite rare, which I like but be prepared.

ENVIRONMENT: Cozy, vintage diner like feel. Tables are really close together, which always makes me feel awkward.

SERVICE: Nice waitress - talked a little bit too quietly, but otherwise, no complaints.

FOOD: We got the gnocchi, the lamb belly, and the farro risotto for our entrees. Chicken liver mousse and a salad for appetizers. Everything was sooo delicious - I'd get it all again. Standouts, the gnocchi - which was crazy fluffy. I've always had pretty dense gnocchi, but these were like tiny pillows. And the chicken liver mousse - quite a lot and served with a strawberry jam (surprisingly amazing). Get it. For dessert, we got the panna cotta and the smores. Panna cotta of course was nice and light (highly recommend). Smores was sticky and decadent and a bit too much.

DRINKS: They only have wine and beer (wine on tap). I ordered some Belgian beer, which was great. My sister ordered the syrah, which wasn't so good. But the bartender was awesome and gave her a different wine without any charge.

ENVIRONMENT: Pretty trendy and pretty small. You walk in and go up some stairs and hit the front bar. In the back are a few tables. We sat at the bar because the tables were filled. Nice and quiet. The bar filled up mostly with couples or single people.

SERVICE: Everyone was friendly. Bartender was great. No complaints.

Side note: whatever music they have playing is awesome. Gotta love Florence + the Machine in any restaurant.

Came with three friends for dinner on a Saturday night. We decided about 7pm, and the earliest we could get in would be at 9:30p. The place is tiny and gets packed. We didn't get seated until maybe 25 min after our reservation. But the host was very nice about it and really, you can see all the tables, so they couldn't have done anything.

Now, on to the food. We got the Hawaiian poki, spicy tofu salad, pork belly, chicken hearts, yakitori, o-toro (fatty tuna) nigiri, saba (mackerel) sashimi, spicy tuna, salmon avocado, caterpillar and dreamy sensation rolls. So much food.

The standouts: O-toro (so smooth and fatty, just melted in my mouth), pork belly (two huge pieces with a tasty sauce and smear of mustard), saba (first time I've tried it) and all the rolls were delicious.
The ones I would pass on: Not that they were bad, just not as good as everything else. Chicken hearts, hawaiian poki, yakitori. Maybe I was just in a sushi only kind of mood.

Environment: tiny space, loud, some bar seating otherwise in tables.
Service: friendly and prompt. Told us when the kitchen was closing so we could make any last orders. Asked if there was anything wrong with the yakitori since we were too full to finish.
