I've been meaning to review this place, I visited them their opening week and things were hectic. I was hoping that they'd fixed the dressing room situation, but Shandi's review confirmed that they may still lack a place to try the clothing on.

They have a nice mix of clothing, all very reasonable but I find the quality much better than Forever XXI or other comparable stores. I purchased several suit jackets and pants for work, all that have worked out great. I love the fabric they use for work clothing.

You can easily find an entire outfit here for $20-30, maybe even less with certain items. I will be back!

Purchased 1/2 priced tickets to see the play Boeing Boeing on the Cultural Connection website (http://culturalconnect... - yes, I'm an NPR nerd).

This is an intimate theatre, great for seeing the actors and really well put together. I was impressed with the quality of the set. The play itself was professional with amazing actors.

It is difficult to find for the first time - if you're coming from south University, it is actually the traffic light after you pass the university (Abe Fischler Blvd). Turn right onto Ray Ferraro Jr Blvd and park in the first garage there on the right. You'll then need to walk south to the farthest building on the sidewalk and turn right once you enter to get to the box office/theatre entrance.

If you enjoy plays, this is one theatre where your patronage is certainly appreciated and the show is worth the trouble getting here.

NOTE: No food/beverage sold here nor is it allowed in the theatre.

Getting out of a play at nearby Nova SE University, we decided to stop here because the of crowd of cars in the parking lot. Expecting something reminiscent of a Chili's, our expectations were met and perhaps somewhat exceeded.

The best thing this place has going are the cheap prices - two alcoholic beverages, one appetizer and two entrees came out to $38.08. Bottled Corona $3.95, small margarita $5.00, Tamale appetizer $ 6.99, Enchiladas Pueblo $10.99 and Veggie Fajitas $8.99.

The margarita wasn't anything special, I'd have to say it was average at best. The star of the meal was definitely the tamale cakes, flavourful and topped with fresh pico de gallo, sauce and sour cream. Delicious.

The veggie fajitas were surprising, served with sizzling broccoli, squash, zucchini, mushrooms, onions and peppers. They were satisfying, but still lacking a bit of flavour. Could have used a nice marinade or dry spice while they were sauteed. I didn't try the enchiladas pueblo, but hubby cleaned the plate and said they were decent.

If you're in the area and looking for some late-night bites, this is a solid option. Just keep your expectations chain-level and you'll be happy enough.

Sergio's Restaurant

I once heard a rumor that Casavana spun off of Sergio's by way of a divorce, with the husband staying with Sergio's and the wife starting up Casavana. Whether that's true or not - I would have to say that Casavana won that battle. I've been to several different Sergio's and have always been disappointed with the food quality and service.

This location in particular has a big problem with their waiters. They have added buttons on the tables to call your server or the manager, which works immediately if you call the manager, but the servers are not as responsive. After waiting 15 minutes for our server to show up after hitting the "Bill" button, we ended up going to the hostess station to pay.

The food is not horrible here, but it isn't satisfying. It is passable Cuban food at best.

Sabor a Peru

I've eaten here a million times in combination of sitting inside, to-go and delivery visits. The food is solid Peruvian fare, great seafood options. The jalea (mixed fried seafood) is amazing, as well as any fish fillet. I have not had anything other than seafood here, but I would suggest sticking to what they do best: seafood.

Prices are very reasonable at $10-15 per person for a meal with fresh fish. Delivery is always ridiculously fast, they sometimes show up 20-25 minutes later, even after they've quoted an hour. The service is super friendly and the restaurant is always packed, even late night.

Sabor a Perú is absolutely my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood, somewhere you can have an amazing meal any day of the week without breaking the bank.

The Borojo Restaurant

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon and I was wandering around Hollywood on one of my famous aimless drives when I stumbled upon Downtown Hollywood. This gorgeous stretch of road, only about a mile long, is lined with shops and restaurants reminiscent of Las Olas. Being the Colombian perro addict that I am, when I pulled up Yelp to see what was here, I zeroed in on Borojo and stopped in. The first thing I noticed is that parking down this stretch of road is FREE! (Either that or I couldn't find a meter lol)

I decided to take some food home to share with hubby and ordered an arepa with carne desmechada (pulled beef), two empanadas de carne desmechada and a choriperro. I have high expectations when it comes to Colombian food, and while it didn't live up to being the best I've had, their food is by far much better than I was expecting to find in Hollywood. The carne desmechada was seasoned perfectly and was super moist in both the arepa and the empanada. The chorizo in the choriperro was really good, albeit a bit greasy on the inside (but what food isn't just a little better with some grease). The toppings on the perro were sparse compared to most, but the necessary cheese, potato sticks and pink sauce were there.

I will definitely be back if I'm in the area - a viable option for your Colombian perro cravings.

Kork Wine & Cheese

I've now been to Kork twice, once for brunch with my girlfriends and another on a Friday night date with my hubby. Kork on Saturday mornings is extremely hard to find parking here, I ended up parking two blocks away in another building's valet. Make sure to plan ahead with comfortable shoes if you're looking to save money on parking - street parking is hard to come by and you may end up having to park on US-1 and walking. Garages during the day are $20-25 flat rate, a little too high for me when the meal is less than that (although I did it since I was in 6-inch heels).

The interior of Kork is nice, a little sparse up top, but the cellar is the main attraction. It feels as though you've been transported back in time to a 1920s speakeasy on the nights they have live jazz - certainly a nice date night location.

Although I like wine, I am nothing close to an aficionado and usually trust the judgment of my server/bartender. I asked for a dry fruity white wine and that's what I got. I'd love to learn more about wines, but this isn't the place to do it. They will allow you to try one or two, but they don't seem extremely helpful in telling about the wine itself nor in doing a proper tasting. The wine selection does appear to be rather sparse for a wine bar and they do charge a corkage fee for any full bottle you purchase through them. I ordered my wine by the glass and was happy enough, prices were $7-8 per glass.

The food options are limited to cheese plates, salads and sandwiches. Their salads are the best option, with delicious combinations of fruits like figs, nuts and cheeses. I haven't tried their sandwiches, however my better half did and he wasn't impressed. He says they actually cooked the Serrano ham in his sandwich and he likes Cheese Course's sandwiches much better.

Overall, it's a good place for a cute date or a wine brunch with friends. I'm not completely blown away by it, but I'm hoping they continue to improve. I heard somewhere that they were looking into getting valet service to fix the parking situation, so hopefully they pull through with that.

South Florida Boxing

I have a lot of pent up frustration, it's something of a quiet burden that I carry around from day to day without saying much about it. I never thought much of it before, but after trying a class at South Florida Boxing last night, I think I've finally found the cure. I may never be Muhammad Ali, but I felt like a superstar with the amazing instructor and front desk staff. I am certainly not any good at boxing, but it was a lot of fun and the instructor was extremely patient and understanding with me.

I came with a friend to try their first class free deal and my only complaint is that they are all the way in Pembroke Pines. We were offered a deal for six months at $99 per month, with one month free. If you are going to work out 3-4 times a week with them, this is a great deal. I only wish I could find such an amazing gym closer to Downtown Miami, with the same patient and understanding staff.

I will be back, even if just for single classes (they price them at $16 per class plus $4 for glove/wrap rentals). If you plan on boxing on a regular basis, I 100% recommend buying your own gloves/wraps. Theirs will leave your hands smelling like feet after. Buy 180 inch wraps for each hand and leather gloves - you'll be good to go much more hygienically.

Yelp Elite Holiday Hangover @ Wynwood Kitchen +…

Yet another fantastic elite event by Yelp and Monica =)

I've avoided Wynwood Kitchen because of the area and the mixed reviews, but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by how "cool" the vibe is there. I love the art all over the walls, we had a lot of fun reading the main wall for most of the night.

The food was some of the best I've had at an elite event - my only qualm is that we didn't get to try more (or maybe just that I couldn't start stuffing full trays in my purse). The bacon-wrapped almonds were absolutely amazing. Of course, what could be better than thick maple bacon?

I forgot my t-shirt, for that I'm so upset, but I saw a lot of amazing designs from the screen printing.

Amazing people, great food, flowing drinks and just an awesome time all-around.

Rainforest Cafe

This is a touristy place, the only reason you should come here is for the ambiance/experience of eating here - most likely if you are with children or someone who isn't from Florida.

The food is overpriced, however it's expected for a touristy restaurant. The food is also extremely mediocre, but again expected for a touristy restaurant.

Cool things about this place:

The decorations themselves make you feel as though you've walked right into the Amazon jungle. Vines all over the walls and ceiling, hidden animals that move and make sound, water falling from certain places in the ceiling. And every few minutes a thunderstorm happens, complete with lighting, thunder and animals waking up and moving.

The volcano dessert, complete with small fireworks. It's expensive, about $15, but it's great for kids.

Expect to feel swindled by the prices, but know that your kids had a great experience. And of course, you get to do some shopping for yourself while in Sawgrass Mall.
