Though my review for Dr. Fagan is five stars (I would give 10 if I could), I can understand why there are negative reviews for this practice, considering the blood work you are required to have completed with each visit. It can be pretty expensive, and if you go to the doctor a lot and are on a tight budget, then this isn't the place for you.
Dr. Fagan became my primary doctor in January 2011, and I don't think I would ever look for a new doctor unless I moved far, far away. Since moving to D.C., he is the first doctor who has taken the time to get to know me, and who has actually recognized me on each visit. This gives me a feeling of comfort -- as if I'm not just another patient to him. He listens to my concerns and respects my opinion.
Many doctors I've seen have been sort of condescending and jaded. I get why they might feel this way -- seeing dozens and dozens of patients each day can be exhausting. After being burned by sneaky drug addicts, threats of malpractice, and just generally unpleasant people, it must be hard to keep that fresh-out-of-medical -school vigor.
But still, I want a doctor who realizes the ups-and-downs of the profession and offers personalized, competent care despite all the drama. And Dr. Fagan is certainly that person.
I do have some complaints about the way the office is run, but I am willing to put up with all of that. Not everyone is going to be willing to overlook the time/cost constraints. It does run like a well-oiled machine, however.
Each time I've been there, the same steps have taken place in this order: check in with receptionist; provide urine sample; wait 20 minutes; have blood drawn; wait 20 minutes; have vital signs and weight taken; wait 30 minutes; see doctor.
So that is what you can expect, and then decide if you think it's worth it. I will say that when I make an appointment very early in the morning, the process doesn't take as long.
