I locked my bike up to the new bike rack out front, which wasn't quite finished being installed yet, but I they were doing some other construction out front (expanded patio area, I think?) so they should have the outside nailed soon.
I went back to the back to order my food: pulled pork platter (like the sandwich only open-face and with more meat). I also got the baked beans and potato salad. The baked beans were fine (hard to mess up IMO), the potato salad had too much mayo. The sandwich was amazing. There's a huge table of BBQ sauces at the back (three varieties, all made there). Make sure to try them all, as they each have a really nice taste. Even the hot one tasted quite nice, but it could have been hotter.
No one was serving at the bar, the lady had to go outside and get the bartender to come in, as he was outside smoking and shooting the shit with some other guy.
The environment was weird: classy interior, cafeteria/bbq-house counter, plastic serving baskets, mixed-drink-centric bar.
When he came in, I asked about the beer selection. He ran through the AB products and acted finished. I asked about some of the beers and he finally coughed up the fact that he had Schlafly Pale Ale under the counter. AB products are a last resort for me, especially with good BBQ. Their bar seems set up to do more of a mixed-drink thing.
Compared to the food, the beers were all too expensive. Also, not a wide enough selection was to be had. Their happy hour included an AB beer (bud?) bucket for cheap but didn't seem to include any other beers.
Honestly, the food was good, but next time I'm grabbing it to go and eating it outside the Tincan while I guzzle half-price beers from the TinCan's happy hour.
I'm still getting used to the fact that you can smoke everywhere in Missouri. I didn't appreciate the lack of separation between smoking & non-smoking seating sections. The bartender was having a too-loud conversation with three regulars about a subject he seemed to now alot about but really didn't.
Crap beer selection, but almost anything's good when paired with ribs!

The food was excellent. It's not anything I would kill to eat again, but definitely good food (and the homemade bacon was great).
I loved desert. My bread pudding was above-par and saved my bread pudding love from a recent fiasco involving said desert that occurred in Olney, MD. My date's chocolate a trois was also mighty tasty, as I tried all three of her mini deserts.
Throughout the whole meal, the portions impressed. Not so much as to leave you feeling bloated or heavy.

I'm always impressed by their food, though. The service is impeccable and I enjoy waiting for my table while seated in the bar. There's something oddly comforting about a bar early in the morning.
I'm had the Chilaquiles (great) and just recently, the Crab cakes with hollandaise (also excellent).
I don't know if they serve metropolis coffee or intelligentsia, but for the quality of their brew, it's gotta be one of the two. I just wish they would wait for an empty mug before refilling. They refilled my coffee so much the last time I was there that the net effect was a much cooler (temperature) coffee than I like.

If they'd cooked it in a skillet or panini style, I might have been alot happier, but it was good nonetheless.
I also had a really tasty fresh juice mixture.
Reasonable prices, too!

The free wifi is amazing and has allowed me to save the company website twice already, since moving to the neighborhood (I still don't have high-speed at home.) I just dash down the street to the Fix and solve whatever problem came up on the website, grab a coffee and a sandwich. And chill.
The place is Comfortable, with a capital "C".

The waitress (the only one there) took way to much time getting our drinks and taking our order. She persisted in this un-timely behavior over the course of our meal.
The food, though. Awesome. We have enchiladas mole & roja. I had the horchata. It was excellent. Not at all gritty, like it can end up at some places. Except, perhaps, a little over-sweet....but I like it that way.
The chips tasted funny at first but then we couldn't stop eating them.

If they charged a few hundred less per apartment, I think it wold be more reasonable for artists and galleries. Even some of the storefronts on the other side of my courtyard have been empty for as long as I can remember.

The chips were a helluva lot better than the ones at that Restaurant on the southwest corner of Cermak, Blue Island, and Ashland.

It's a cute little polish shop. I wish they had more housemade goods, but the meat definitely doesn't let me complain about that.
I picked up 20 fresh sausages (Polish & Bratwurst) for about as cheap as I could hope for. Just be willing to let the old folks package it up for you at their own pace.
Oh, also: they don't accept credit cards, but they do accept debit cards now.
