The doner was somewhat of a letdown as the meat was tough and dry but the real winner at Keba are their delicious fries. Thick, crispy and seasoned just right with a touch of salt.

It can get pretty busy around lunch time so pray that you have decisive people ahead of you or you might be waiting in line for awhile.

The rabit stew special - hearty.

Bangers and Mash - tasty.

Service? Still good and the place is bustling.

Good, cheap pub food and consistent - 5 stars. Keep it up Royal Peasant!

Located in the heart of 5 points next to Earth Fare, the Royal Peasant offers tasty, British pub food at a reasonable price. The menu is short and simple but has something for everyone (although I was intrigued that they don't offer shepherd's pie). The fish and chips is a winner - soft, tender, flaky fish with crispy fries. It even comes on a newspaper print wax paper!

The waitstaff and bartenders are friendly and extremely helpful in choosing drinks/food. The selection of beer they have (tap included) is also quite impressive.

Will revisit again in the future to try the rest of their dishes. Overall, a great addition to the Classic City.

Not a lot of restaurants in Athens do a medium burger well but my Alice Burger came out a juicy medium. The grilled portabella that comes on the Alice adds another meaty texture, the field greens add a peppery kick and the creamy, zesty White Tiger Sauce seals the deal.

Just remember to bring cash because they don't take credit cards.

It's no Holeman & Finch burger but hey - it's still pretty damn tasty.

So, aside from the awful parking (I mean it is downtown) and incredibly annoying overhead heaters how is one of Athens' most beloved restaurants?

The fried green tomatoes battered with cornmeal have good crunch and nice sweetness. Presentation wise, I don't quite get it (why the dice of red pepper and piece of lettuce?) but flavor wise - it was pretty good.

The hanger was cooked perfectly to a requested medium-rare and the tomato veracruz was delicious. A fun and well-executed dish that I didn't get tired of eating.

The chop on the other hand was somewhat of a disappointment as the caraway overwhelmed the other flavors of the dish. That sweet potato it came on however is absolutely delicious. You reading Last Resort? I - want - the recipe.

If it wasn't for the wide display of alcohol on the wall, you might have thought that you walked into a sports memorabilia store. This bar and grill on Broad street is filled with Georgia Bulldog artifacts ranging  from jerseys, signed photographs to helmets.

Greeted by an apathetic waitress who seemed more interested in kicking us out as soon as possible and left on the job to buy more cigs, I could tell that we were in for a treat (note sarcasm).

The burgers are only offered well-done. No medium here my friends - not even medium-well. What does this mean for you? Dry, tough burgers that's not worth the $8. The steak fries that come with the burgers aren't worth mentioning - they're just frozen ones you can buy at the grocery store.

The sandwiches are served between French bread and considering it's bar food, it's not bad. It's a nice twist from the usual sliced bread and for the price and the size, you're better off getting the sandwich than the burger.

You can find better burgers in Athens but their sandwiches aren't bad if you're into bar food for lunch or dinner. Personally, I'm walking down the street to other restaurants specifically for food.

Absolutely delicious gyros. The beef&lamb gyro is generously stuffed with slices of meat, topped off with lettuce, red onions, creamy tzatziki and wrapped around a warm pita. Did I mention how so damn tender that meat is? Nothing went to waste from that wrap - lettuce and all.

The Maza platter is a tasty plate of messy foodstuffs that goes brilliantly with their warm, grilled pita bread or just by the forkful. Sure the presentation isn't much to look at but when food's this good, screw how it looks. Just eat the damn thing.

The one thing you should know about Café Agora is that there are no visible prices on the menu. The Maza Platter and 2 gyros cost me $28 even so I'm guessing $7 per gyro and $14 for the Maza Platter but again - that's only my guess.

Al wasn't there on my visit but I wasn't disappointed with my incomplete experience. I'll be back again and again to eat their delicious gyros and anything that Al tells me to eat.

Tasty China

Tasty China is true to its name and still rocking out good food.

The beef and cilantro soup is a good way to wake up your palate. It's really savory taste from the beef and mushroom combined with the refreshing taste of cilantro is a tasty combination. Cilantro-haters may want to opt out for something else though.

Both the braised beef and fish were good and when eaten together with rice, they were delicious. Great for these chilly nights.

Their spicy crispy pork belly is a textural delight. If they ever make a spicy pork chip - this would be it.

Their dry fried eggplant was inconsistent this time around as half were seasoned/spiced well while the other half was pretty bland. Still crispy and no bitterness at all though and my little brother describes them as spicy french fries.

Service was well...as expected. Our waitress had the most pissed off look on her face when I asked for bowls and spoons (she forgot them when our soup arrived on the table). All good fun though. They really are nice folks contrary to some beliefs!

Best Dang Bakery Around

Fact: the words "bakery" and "now open" will get my business no matter what.

That being said, I couldn't help but stop by when I noticed a big yellow banner sporting both of those words.

Best Dang Bakery has been around for awhile but like many of the businesses around Hwy 92 Woodstock, it was flooded this year (check out their flood pictures on the website). They reopened last month and now offer pastries and specialized cakes. No fresh bread however which was a bummer.

While nothing I tried really stood out I really liked their version of Boston Cream. Their doughnut has a really crisp/crunchy exterior that I wasn't expecting and the cream, although strangely synthetic tasting, is creamy and not overly sweet. Not quite sure why I liked it so much but it's just one of those foods I guess.

With Dunkin still renovating and the nearest place for non-gas station doughnuts all the way near Kennesaw, Best Dang Bakery is worth a visit.

Varasano's Pizzeria

First off...people need to stop comparing this place to Antico - they're completely different beasts. Why can't you like both places? Anyways, now that's out of the way...

I enjoyed my pizzas at Varasanos. The "soupy" margherita has a flavorful sauce and the sourness of the dough balances out the sweetness of the tomatoes nicely. The crust did get soggy towards the end but straight out of the oven, it wasn't a problem. The caramelized onion was also pretty good and although it was completely devoured, it would reheat well at home.

My only problem at Varasano was the service. Our waiter was pretty condescending and I'm not sure why he rolled his eyes when my little brother asked for water.

I mean what did he want? "Yes, waiter. My 12 year old brother would like Sprite on the rocks with a twist"?? Another thing - smile for F sakes - it's free, it doesn't cost anything.

RedBrick Pizza

A chain pizzeria, let alone one in the mall, actually...good??

RedBrick House makes you question why Sbarro even exists in food courts anymore because they offer quality pizza that's not expected of a franchise. The crust is thin and crispy and the toppings aren't bad.

The pepperoni lacked the spiciness I look for in a pepperoni pizza but it was okay. The Veggie pizza was surprisingly good (this coming from a guy that makes fun of vegetarians at every opportunity). The artichokes were a nice addition to the pie and you can either get this with a red or white (anchovies&garlic) sauce.

Pleasantly surprised and will visit again if I happen to be craving pizza while shopping around.
