I also left this review a few months ago on the Yelp profile for the former restaurant (they changed ownership and names or something).
I discovered this place many months ago as I was wondering around downtown looking for lunch. I am so glad I found this place, and I honestly go here a minimum of 2 times per week for lunch. There is just something amazing about a fresh salad, fresh out of the oven pizza and all you can drink soda for under $7.00 for lunch. *New favorite is the garlic twists!* SO GOOD!
The salad is amazing, basic and perfect. The veggies are super fresh and crisp, and I'm in love with their Italian dressing. The pizza slice is enormous and tastes so good. Thin crust, yummy sauce and I like their cheese. All of this while sucking down a big bubbly soda. Does it get any better than that?
The place is super small, so I usually go after the lunch hour rush. The ladies and guys that work there that ring you up and bring your food out are so sweet and helpful. The new owner rocks! He makes me laugh, and he won't take s**t from anyone, so don't even try. Kinda feel like I'm not in Denver when I'm at this place. It's kinda like I've walked into a pizza joint in NYC. Granted, I've never been to NYC, but that's what I assume it would be like. :)
Even better it's not on 16th Street Mall, but just close enough to be able to get there easily. I avoid the mall like the plague, so being able to walk down 17th and take a left on Stout and you are right there is perfect.
Mile High Pizza Pie, I love you and will see you tomorrow.

1.5 weeks ago I took my dog to be seen and have surgery performed by Dr. Wingert for a aural hematoma. I asked to fill out paperwork when I got there. They told me there was no paperwork to fill out. Kinda weird, as it was my first time there and I'd think they'd want to know age, history of dog, medications, etc. Nope! Finally had our name called and we were placed into one of the filthiest rooms I've ever seen. There was still a puddle on the floor from another animal, and of course my dog made a b-line for it. Gross! Dr. Wingert spent no more then 1 1/2 minutes with me and I said over and over my dog is on prednisone, my dog is on prednisone! Knowing that if they gave her an NSAID it could put her into kidney/liver failure and even kill her. He said he would make sure it was in the computer. Picked dog up in the afternoon (they never called me - I had to call them). She of course was groggy, had her ear taped, and seemed normal for coming out of a surgery. At the front desk the tech gave me a pain medicine and I proceeded to tell her that I had a bunch of leftover pain medication for her from a recent muscle sprain, and Dr. Wingert said that was the perfect thing to give her. However, the tech was trying to push an NSAID on me. AN NSAID!!! The thing I wanted to make sure she didn't receive due to the fact she's on prednisone. I told her and she said it wasn't in her records. Frusting & first red flag!!!! I was also not given an antibiotic for her. I mean an invasive surgery and no antibiotic? That's almost unheard of.
2 days post surgery she was acting like she was in a ton of pain. The pain meds didn't seem to be helping, so I went back during walk in hours. I was disgusted! Dogs were fighting in the waiting room. One lady had a super old diabetic dog that had TONS of health problems and proceeded to tell me "Oh, she just had puppies." Sigh...why are you breeding a dog with health problems and why aren't these vets educating the public?? Why, why, why?! I saw Dr. Lane (I think that was his name) and told him my dog seemed to be in pain and shaking her head a lot. He said he wouldn't redo the bandage, but gave me an antibiotic (go figure) and an ointment for a sore on the back of the ear (that was not what was hurting her). He then said to make an appointment on with Dr. Wingert for the next week. So that's what I did.
Next appointment with Dr. Wingert was horrible. He took my dog around the corner for her bandage change and she yelped, howled, whined, etc. It was horrible. I know it probably wasn't a comfortable thing, but to let her do that and be in that much pain made me sick. Finally he brought her back after 10 minutes, with blood all over her, and she looked stunned. I plopped her in my car, sobbed, and threw up out the window (I don't handle animals in pain well).
On my drive home I called my usual vet who I love more than life itself. I just couldn't afford to have this procedure done with her there. I was sobbing and he told me to bring her in. I did...and the rest is the most horrific thing I've experienced in my life. My vet took off her bandage and was stunned. I've never seen him look upset before, and he did this time. He told me to come look and I couldn't so he described it to me. Dr. Wingert had lacerated my dogs ear during the surgery (not what he was supposed to do) and didn't stitch it and it was openly bleeding and mangled. I never would've known, as he wasn't honest with me about his error!!! So he had to fix that. Then the worst part. Dr. Wingert apparently rolled up a paper towel, wrapped it in tape and shoved it down her ear canal and then tightly bandaged the ear. This was causing her EXCRUCIATING pain!!! Again, I never would've known this if I had not taken her to my regular vet.
I also had the records sent over from BAC. No mention of her being on prednisone, but it didn't mention NSAID given to client. My vet didn't know if this was given post-surgery so I had to monitor her water intake to make sure the kidneys were okay. I think we are in the clear there. I took her back this week to my regular vet for a checkup and the surgery area is healing, but the part where they lacerated her ear and mangled it was infected. So now she's on hardcore antibiotics.
She seems to be a happy dog again. Her head is still wrapped, she has to wear a soft cone, she's on antibiotics and no longer on pain meds. That said - BAC could've killed my dog. BAC tortured my dog! BAC acted negligently when lacerating her ear and not telling me. BAC committed animal abuse by shoved a rolled up paper towel wrapped in tape down her ear canal.
I beg you..stay away from here. I understand the appeal of low cost vet care. However, my low cost vet care has now cost me an additional $438 and counting.
