It's a new charcuterie on Solano (on the site of the former Lola's) with pates, terrines, sausages, a few vacuum-packed boil-and-serve dinners, and a few pastries too.
Everything I sampled was delicious and the prices are right. A nice addition to the Solano strip.

Another nice addition to the neighborhood. The menu is really basic....it's really just gyros, souvlaki, and maybe a couple more items (for now?). But the gyros were tasty and the food is solidly good, not to mention really generous - I couldn't finish the gyros plate.
I like how the interior is new and clean, an exception to your typically divey Berkeley joints. If more of these places open, I may have to retire the phrase "typically divey Berkeley joints".
It's kind of like the Greek equivalent of Chick-o-Peas around the block.

With 1411 reviews already, I'll keep it brief: went for the first time today, had the "MILF" and loved it, want to go back for a "Hella Fat Bastard".
Wow. I just spent $14.20 for their burger of the month (the Greek "lamb burger")....just the burger, no sides. The meat was good but the whole thing was just kind of bland and plain.
Guess the joke's on me.
(But if we were rating their ability to fleece customers into paying inflated prices for glorified fast food, I'd give 'em 5 stars.)

I flew them in March and then again last month, and I'm quite impressed with the Singapore coach class experience. It helps that Singapore flies new 777s on its SFO routes with newly redesigned seats.
Service. The famed Singapore flight attendants are as good as advertised, maybe some are a little over-trained and robotic but most are genuinely caring and a far cry from United's grouchy prison wardens. If there's a downside, it's that Singapore Airlines' passengers are aware of this and seem to be a little more high-maintenance. I noticed the dinner service from SFO to HKG seemed to take forever as row after row of passengers made lengthy special requests as the flight attendants delivered their food.
Other than that, this is one of the best airlines around, easily.
And the rating isn't about Singapore, but it's a cool place to visit, shop, and eat!

Joie de Vivre can do no wrong.
I'm amazed how they do it, turning decrepit old properties all over CA into nice places to stay - not super-nice, but surprisingly nice considering what they once were, and often with just-as-surprising low prices. They're like the Virgin America of the hotel industry.
The Wild Palms is no exception. From the outside, it looks no different from all those other crappy 60s-era motels lining El Camino. But on the inside, the room was modern and comfortable and the bathroom even more so! It's still limited by the fact that it's a renovated motel, with the accompanying lack of aesthetics and occasional extra noise, but it was still a great choice for a couple nights when I was in the South Bay on business.

Pisco sour - interesting, a bit strong but that's fine as one's all you need
Chips with 3 salsas - awesome, and dangerously easy to fill up on especially after the pisco-sour-induced "drunken munchies"
Ceviche chipotle - very good seafood but overwhelmed by spice
Sea bass sashimi - very good seafood again with an excellent sauce
Octopus skewers - delicious, very flavorful
Empanadas - still craving these
Bunuelos - still craving these as well, delicious
Environment - very chic decor and fun, lively atmosphere
Service - terrific, very friendly server
Price - a little expensive but worth it for all of the above
Overall, it adds up to 5 stars, easily. One of the best and most unique meals I've had in SF.

There's small business, and then there's this business - so small, it's literally a shack in a parking lot.
But it's also a rare place to find real Chicago-style dogs (not some lame California-ized imitation). The one I tried had all the ingredients - maybe a bit small for the price, but the number of places in the Bay Area that make 'em like this can probably be counted on one hand.

Based on some of the reviews, I was thinking this would basically be a really cool bar with a hotel attached as an afterthought. But staying here is no disaster....it was actually reasonably nice and suprisingly quiet, which made it easier to enjoy all the chic trendiness.
The major drawback is, as everyone has pointed out, room size. Even though my room was (barely) big enough, it was because of an upgrade. I can't imagine how small the regular ones are.
I'm also not all that impressed by the too-brightly-lit main bar, which looks like it belongs in an airport, or the library bar, which just doesn't go with the contemporary-chic rest of the hotel. But the outdoor lounge just off the lobby was cool and the roof terrace looks like it would even better (closed for the season when I visited in late October.....boooooo.......)

What I wasn't crazy about: the office-building location just seems really isolated, like a corporate dining room rather than an after-work destination, and the service was kind of strange.
But overall, this is the kind of place that makes me want to see what else the restaurant scene in the ATL has to offer.
