Vacaville Pontiac Buick GMC

I drive my 2003 Pontiac Vibe a lot and put many miles on my car because of my commute to Sacramento. Since Vacaville GMC Buick is along the way, off the I-80, I always stop by to get my car serviced here. Despite the fact that I didn't purchase my Vibe here, their service department has always taken care of me well. They are honest, give me great suggestions on maintenance, and above all make sure my car is running strong (especially with 190K miles on my odometer).

They maintain my car well and I have not yet had anything major break down to my car (knock on wood). I did have a power steering leak that the technician noticed, and they were able to fix it at a very reasonable price.

It's just unfortunate that some reviewers bash the service department because this was never how I was treated. Management has always been reasonable and fair in my experience for the past five years I've been taking my car to get serviced here.

I can obviously drive to other GM dealers in the area or even my local dealership in the East Bay, but my experience at Vacaville Buick GMC has always been pleasant. I would highly recommend any of my friends to have their cars serviced here.

I enjoyed my eating experience at Manzanita! Generous portions of HEALTHY non-meat goodness! Obviously, I chose the "full meal" Pricing is fair as well. A definate must for any vegetarians or vegans out there!

Food service is very fast! The waitress was very informative in explaining how their menu system works. It's very simple....you have three portion size choices of a prix fixe menu.

The food was great! You basically feel like you're putting good stuff into your body.  Seriously!

On an honest note...the food gave me some serious gas, but that's what Macrobiotic food is supposed to do! hahaha

Decor reminded me of a quickly put together IKEA showroom, but don't let that discourage you.

Go because the food is good and very GOOD for you!  Live well and eat healthy!

Flora Restaurant & Bar

I went here for an early dinner reservation since it was the only available opening for a cold winter Friday night.  Upon entering this establishment, I was amazed at how well decorated it was.  It had this vintage art deco feel with amber yellow lighting behind the bar.  It looks great inside!  The only thing I was a bit puzzled about (decor wise) as to why they had a bunch of portable industrial style electric fans above the bar overhang.

Food is good but not memorable. Ambiance is awesome! But I was a bit disappointed at the prices. I decided to get their mushroom vegetable stew since I stopped eating meat due to health issues.  It came in a very shallow soup bowl platter.  It was tasty and the dumplings had a good texture to it.  My only gripe was the $22 price tag!  Call me a cheapskate, but that is way overpriced for a stew of beans, mushrooms, and four tablespoon sized dumplings. Honestly, at most, unless there is some kind of rare hard to get mushrooms in this stew, it was not worth the price at all. I would have been satisfied if it were half this price.

Their Steak looked awesome and this is their signature dish if I'm not mistaken.  Too bad I can't eat meat!  My sister ordered the steak and she said it was great.  I think the steak had a better value in comparison to the price.

There's nothing wrong with charging upscale pricing for food.  It just better live up to it's price tag. The food just didn't "wow" me for what they are charging.  Either lower your prices or keep your high prices but make the food spectacular till the point where people can't stop talking about it.

Sadly, I was going to give Flora two stars, but I decided to give them on extra because of service.  Our waitress was polite and made some great recommendations on their overpriced appetizers.  Overpriced, as in $14 for two scallops?

Yes, this is still downtown Oakland or "Uptown" as they like to call it. Sadly it's in an area where you spend over $100 for a dinner for two only to have a smelly homeless guy approach you for spare change as you walk out the door.

My final words about Flora....."OVERPRICED!" Probably a good place to take someone who you dislike and make them pay the bill.

WORTH THE WAIT!!! Don't let the long ass line that stretches around the corner discourage you. If you see a line stretched out the door; it has to be good!

Stand in line, talk with the strangers standing in line with you. People are friendly. Why not make a new friend while standing in line? There's a good chance you'll be sitting next to them again.  It's a small tiny place.

Yes, try the butternut squash ravioli! Really good! The creamy sauce is a bit on the sweet side, but it compliments it well!

The fried calamari....crunchy goodness! Tender....not chewy!

The wait staff was a bit pushy, as in asking if we would like to order the minute we sat down.  I can forgive them because I understand that have to turn tables fast with a line down the block.

Prices won't break the bank!!! Great Italian food! As authentic as it gets!

Atlantic Fish Company

Perhaps I walked into the Atlantic Fish Company with too much expectation from this place. This was my first trip to Boston and was excited to consume a great lobstah dinner! We decided on trying Atlantic Fish Company on recommendation since friends said they were better than Legal...which is much more touristy.

We made reservations for a late dinner at 9:30pm for a party of five.  They seated us promptly.  Noise level was a bit louder than normal since there were some brave Yankee fans watching the playoff games versus the Twins near the bar.

Since there were five of us all wanting lobster. We ordered TWO, yes two orders of their, "New England Lobster Feasts" Each feast consists of a two pound steamed lobster served with clam chowder, mussels, steamers, corn on the cob, and potatoes. This feast is geared to serve two.

Clam chowder was delish! We ordered the lobster ravioli appetizer which was also very tasty!

Then came the lobster feast. Very disappointed. The tail was like eating rubber.  Tough, chewy, not sweet, and way overcooked. Had trouble cutting it with my knife even. That's a bad sign!  The claw was ok. I was tempted to complain to our server and regret that I didn't.

Mussels were good, the steamer clams on the other hand terrible! There was so much sand inside the clams that I literally could feel each crunch of sand in my teeth. Maybe I just got a bad steamer clam with sand. So I tried eating another, then another. The more steamers I ate, the more sand I had to spit out!  The kitchen did a terrible job in cleaning/soaking/rinsing these clams. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't soak them which is a FDA recommendation before serving.  If I wanted to eat sand, I would have gone to the beach!

We did share a Boston Creme Pie for dessert which made up for the terrible New England feast.

I'm sad to say that I was disappointed with our meal considering how much we spent on ordering lobster. Traveled across the United States to have a horrible lobster feast.

Yes, I am a tourist. Yes, I did quack on the vessel. So what!

I was told by many that this tour is a lot of fun. Cheesy jokes along with some informative history about every single historic building in Boston. It was a great way to see everything and not have to deal with all the confusion of all the streets. I can rant on forever on how much of a pain it is to figure out how to get around town since their streets are literally "f'd" up direction wise. Honestly, if you're not from Boston, YOU WILL GET LOST!

The tour highlighted all the places of interest so I could familiarize myself on specific places that i would like to revisit after the tour. This was a good thing!

I would agree that going down the Charles River was fun, but it did get a bit boring after a few minutes. That's ok, because it all part of the experience!

If you visit Boston, this tour is worth considering!

Love it! A nice small mom and pop diner feel crowded with locals. The walls are plastered with celeb photos with autographs! The good ol' stool and counter top. Classic!

Breakfast is served anytime is great but I wasn't feeling breakfast despite seeing their Famous Turkey Hash sign. Since it was lunch time, I decided to go with their Chicken Parm Sandwich with a side order of fries!  Yummy!  Probably the next best thing to home cooking!

Prices are reasonable for a great and satisfying breakfast!  I could tell just by looking at what other patrons were ordering. You can see the satisfaction on their faces as they eat and chat with the owners.

Forget about your diet, forget about the grease, and just sit down and enjoy a great meal. If I return to Boston for another visit, I'll definately come back to eat breakfast here.

I complimented the staff before leaving and they were very appreciative!

Beautiful location! Be sure to feed the ducks with the leftover bread they have available for you to feed them with.

I'm not a local and we ate here while visiting relatives that live in the area. We were not disappointed. Yes, the service is a bit on the slow side, but the food definately makes up for it.

I highly recommend the "Famous Old Mill Sizzler" All I can say, is that I've never had a thick sliced prime rib slice served up this way! It wasn't overly dry or overcooked as I would expect it.  Still tender and full of the teriyaki flavor as it sizzles in front of your face. I can still smell the smoke in my nostrils. HEAVEN!

I found it rather amusing that my mother ordered the Roast Country Duck after just feeding the ducks in front of the Mill.  The duck was great....tender and juicy!

Pecan rolls and corn fritters! Cannot afford not to mention them. Best pecan rolls I've ever eaten! They didn't last that long with our table of 12 guests. Warm, sticky, melt in your mouth goodness!

Yes, the decor is a bit old and the mens bathroom looked as it if it wasn't remodeled since 1920.  That's ok.  It makes this place vintage!

Good food....I would fly from CA to MA to eat here again.

Perfect time to pick apples! Also, it's was scenic because the leaves are on the verge of turning the beautiful fall colors that everyone is so fond of. Fall is great!

Since I am from the west coast playing tourist, my relatives who reside in MA chose to take us here since they have visited here many times in the past. We went on a weekday and didn't have to deal with the crowds.

Apple picking was fun. It can be dangerous too if you decide to pick the perfect apples that happen to be way up at the top of the trees.  Use the ladders and also use caution!

We filled our bags up and filled up by eating the apples along the way.  A great assortments of apple varieties which are nicely mapped out with signs. There are rows and rows of trees.  Put on your dirty clothes and get ready to start pickin'!

Must try the following:
1. Cider Donuts!  Simply Awesome!
2. Fresh Apple Cider....compliments the donuts well.
3. Carmel Apple with nuts.

If the apples weren't so heavy, I would haul them back to CA. But I don't want to deal with all the state customs issues of transporting fruits across borders, yet alone on the plane!  Is that still an issue nowadays?

I'm all appled out.  Honey Pot Hill Orchards....fun for the family! Plus on a side note.  I didn't brush my teeth in the morning knowing that I can eat an apple. j/k

Not Your Average Joe's

Not Your Average Joe....I hate to disappoint, but you were "Just Your Average Joe's."  What was nice was the fact that you were able to accommodate our large group.  A great selection and varierty of food.  Food portions are proportionate to the price. The food was just average. Nothing spectacular and nothing on the menu that you can screw up.

The interior is very colorful.  In fact, to best describe the color, imagine artists Picasso and Miro getting wasted and deciding to paint the walls. An orginal touch, but a bit too contemporary/hip for this establishment.

I would give your restaurant only three stars, but since your bread is "kick ass good!"; I'll give you an extra star!  The bread dip of garlic and olive oil is damn good!  If I could, I would just sit down, order a drink, and eat your bread all day. Everyone, you won't be disappointed with their bread!
