Everyone has regrets in life, some folks more than others. Patronizing this business is one that is going to haunt me for a good long while.
When folks service your car, you think there's a couple things they're likely to keep in touch about: when parts are ordered and come back in, when your car is ready to drop off or be picked up, some even for a follow up to see how everything went and to make sure your experience was enjoyable or how they can make it better. Anything. Absolutely anything would have been better than the service, communication and support I received with Nick at FCCR. One thing at a time...
Upon initial walk in, Nick was at the counter and eager to help. Off to a nice start he did a quick estimate on the work I needed done on my car, and the bottom line showed me the overall cost would come in hundred of $$$'s under what the dealership quoted me. (Sidenote: I show The Mrs the estimate and she still thinks I'm out of my mind and to get a second opinion - oh baby, was she right). Overjoyed, I paid for the services to be done in full - A MAJOR NO-NO!!!! This left the door open for things down the road.
About three weeks go by and I realize, "That guy never called me." I call them up, tell them I'm a little suspicious, and wonder what's going on. Gal on the phone tells me I can bring my car in "Wednesday first thing!" and it would probably be done by 10am. Too good to be true, right? I bring it in, verify all the work to be done and leave them the keys. I wait all morning, no call. I give 'em a ring around lunchtime to see how it all went, and Nick tells me "Fine. The red looks good and matches great, but what's up with the two big cracks in your mirror?" "There weren't two cracks in anything when I dropped the car off this morning," I replied. Here we go... He tells me he would check with his guys and get back to me.
Wondering how I'm going to get my kids picked up and a ride home that night, I call again to see what's going on. Nick picks up and said my car should be ready to pick up after 5pm. This time when I ask what happened, all I got was mumbles. When I go get my car, Nick is MAGICALLY not around, and the dark gray leather interior of my car is covered in white primer dust. Not only that, but the parts used look older, think sunbleached/weathere d, than the other matching part on my car. So not only is some foul play afoot, Nick clearly doesn't care about how the work is done and how the cars look when they are returned.
If I had spent the extra money on service and parts at the dealership, it would have saved some major headaches in the long run. For the time being, I'm stuck detailing and cleaning the thousands of white primer fingerprints inside my car.

Putting the myth that the only thing that goes well with beer is pretzels straight to bed, Gravity 1020 puts a fancy, but not conceited, twist on traditional American cuisine.
The name Gravity 1020 refers to the measure used in defining the alcohol content in a beer. Certainly a plus considering their attached to Fort Collins Brewery. Cool - so the beer snobs are covered, now how about the foodies?
For starters The Mrs. and I split the pretzel rolls which came with both a cheese sauce and a homemade mustard. The cheese was REALLLLY good, but whole mustard seeded mustard is one of my obsessions, and it was spicy and tangy - very spot on for this guy. Onto the main, I had the half chicken that was then quartered, de-boned except for one little drumstick (a cool little touch), marinated, seared on the skin side and plated with tatties, peas, carrots and a delicious sauce. And a Red Banshee to wash it all down. Made. Me. Skinny.
So why not 5 stars? I simply haven't tried enough yet. Looking forward to a BEER float on Father's Day brunch though.
