I'm not writing about their restaurant ambiance or their food (which I would've glady written about had I experienced it). But due to the following, I will NEVER step foot in this place ever again.

Some girlfriends and I arrived a little after midnight to meet friends. We got in no problem, but when we walked inside we had to make our way through crowds of people (to be expected) and a floor covered in wet napkins... seriously disgusting.

After taking turns helping each other get the napkins off our shoes... we headed to the bar where the RUDE bartender (guy with ugly hair and glasses) proceeded to take over 5 minutes making a dirty martini. I've never been to a bar where the bartender wasn't speedy with service and actually making a drink so he really surprised me. But as he made the second drink (out of the four we ordered) he jumped the gun, and was already giving us the amount due for the drinks he made. Hello, get the full order and make it buddy.

We stood around with our drinks by the dj booth, but apparently people aren't allowed to lean on walls or even touch the walls with any part of their bodies, as the bouncers had advised us. Really? So when there are hoards of people taking up the space between each wall, where do you want other people to stand and not be in the way of others trying to get around the area?

The second bar in the back, where apparently the VIP rooms are, was home to two female bartenders who are A) rude and B) not knowledgeable in making drinks. We asked one bartender for chocolate cake shots (part frangelico, part lemon vodka, served in a shot glass with a sugared lemon slice on the side) and we were given shots of mostly vodka, with no lemon slices. It was disgusting. When my friend asked the other bartender if she could close her tab, the bartender began telling her that her tab had already been closed (when my friend literally JUST handed her card over to pay for the nasty shots we previously took moments before). While arguing with this bartender (dark long hair) that this "phantom" tab she was talking about was not ours, she finally gave in and asked the other bartender about the credit cards... who (BOOYAHHH) grabs the card and closes out the tab. All the while she is watching her do this, she ingores the fact that she just was yelling at us and failed to apologize for her behavior.

This place is disgusting. I don't know what's worse... the napkins they throw in the air that collect on a floor of spilled drinks, or the incompetent bartenders.

My friends relied on the previous reviews on Yelp to decide which party bus company they would choose for their "birthday extravanza" and they ultimately chose Cali Party Bus.

I think the only thing I could compliment this company on was that the driver was BEYOND nice however...
his niceness did not compensate that for the amount of money you fork over-- you are basically being driven around for like.. a max of 15-20 minutes, dropped off at a pre-chosen venue and then left to fend for yourself until 2AM when the bus comes to pick you back up.

WHAT?! No bottle service? No VIP Walk-thru?
And seriously... the amount of money we gave the guy was ridiculous.

5 stars for the nice driver and him driving safely in the rain.
1 star for OVERALL service, the interior of the bus and their 0% pull in Downtown San Diego.

This place is casual and relaxed and the one spot in NYC where I can always grab a seat.  I usually come here on Thursday nights when my friends are DJ'ing but thats not why I go.  There are two reasons why I go to FC:

1. Lychee Martinis
2. Beef Bowl

Those two alone make me happy enough.  Aside from being one of the most relaxed atmospheres I've encountered (ok, ok.. for a Thursday).  The bartenders and staff are easy going, friendly and helpful.

HK Lounge

This place is ok-- I had read reviews before I went and was a bit hesitant but my friends from Cali were here and wanted very much to go.

The space itself is cute, however it was so packed I couldn't really make the best analysis of the space.  However the mirror by the bathrooms sure as hell made me think there was another part of the club-- so it did it's trick.

I wasn't quite sure where I was, a gay bar? A straight bar (I had been gropped..EWW)? A mingling place for all of the above?  I'm a firm believer in you make it your own party and needless to say, I did enjoy my time at HK.. I was just a bit confused?

Apparently there was an Open Bar hour from 12am-1am which me and my boyfriends, girlfriends, otherfriends all crowded around the bar for-- but it took a damn 30 minutes to get a drink.. Is it cause I was a straight woman or is it cause the bartenders are assholes?

It's been a full 5 days now and I'm still confused, what is that place?!

Katagiri & Co

Having just come back from traveling to Japan, I was really missing my daily intake of Calpico and Kirin Milk Tea.

I googled "japanese grocery" and Katagiri was the only one that happened to be around where I work (ok, not really.. it was about a 20 minute walk), so I decided to make the trek over and check it out.

I guess from reading all the reviews on Yelp, I envisioned something different.. but in small way all the things mentioned were where people said they'd be... just not where I placed them in my imagination.

Being that it took me 20 minutes to walk over, I didn't have enough time to check it out, wa!  But I did manage to make a quick walk-thru of all the aisles.

I spotted (and bought) teriyaki furakake seasoning (never tried it before!), GIANT bottles of Calpico (got myself Strawberry!), giant bottle of Kirin Afternoon Milk Tea (lovelovelove) and "Garlic, Olive oil & Chili Powder" spaghetti sauce which really got me excited because my friend in Kyoto made me some and it was friggin delicious.

I even picked up a salmon onigiri for my lunch, it was good.. but definitely not as good as what I'd get from a Family Mart or 7-11 in Japan.

Next time I go, I'm definitely going to take my time and check out the gift shop.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this place, but my friends swear by it.  Being they kept raving, I figured it was worth a shot.

So of course my friends who were raving about this place are an hour late, which gave me a chance to sample a drink.  I took a look around and noticed a lot of people drinking ... the same looking drink, so I asked what it was and the bartender replied, "Lychee Martini"

Ok.  So, it had... mint, lime slices, lime juice, some blue stuff (maybe curacao?) and other stuff, was shaken vigorously then poured into a very large glass.  If it's not in a martini glass made with lots of vodka, I don't think it's a martini?
... so in my imagination I renamed it a Lychee Mojito.

Anyway, that was pretty good.  But the space by the bar is just retardedly small.  Picture a bar, with stools, then under the stools is a table (???) and next to the table on one side is a squishy bench, then two space-age looking chairs on the other sides of the table's free ends.  I literally had to crawl over a few hipsters to make my way to the bar.

On to the atmosphere.  When I went to walk to our table, it was dark.  Not romantic, just dark.  Like there were lights-- but what's the point.  I can't guide myself to my seat by the lil candles scattered on the tables.  Let alone cut my food.

FOOD!  The appetizers were delicious, we had calamari and shrimp.  I think it was the tangy sauces that did me in!  I ordered the aged porkchops for my entree (which came with a very disappointing amount of rice-- about 3 tablespoons molded into a pyramid of some sort)... and though it was delicious there was entirely wayyy too muchhh fat!

And being that the place was so dark, I couldn't manage to cut off the fat because I couldn't see it.  Another reason why I couldn't cut off the fat, aside from being in the dark-- the fact that they failed to clear the table we had no real room to move.  Our appetizer plates were still around, we ended up stacking them up-- and when our food came, instead of picking all the empty plates up, they sort of just.. moved them to the side.

Service could definitely be better.  I don't see what the big deal about this place is though.

Dylan's Candy Bar

Ohhh my.. the colors.  All these glorious candy colors.

You can get anything candy related here, it's sorta gross but not.  I actually took a walk over there today to get a birthday gift and I sort of forgot my age and what time it was cause I just explored the store for a full hour.

The prices are semi-ridiculous, but I think everyone's in such awe that it's not just a regular candy store-- they dont give a hell.  I mean, as soon as you walk in you're already hypnotized by the giant lollipops and chocolate bunny that greet you.

And the stairs. THE STAIRS!  How can you not love them!  I'm more in love with the colors and imagination put into the design of the store than I am any of the candy in there.  Definitely fun and worth lazy walk through.

Recession Special.  Need I say more?

Mmm, definitely a place I always take people from out of town to.  I mean, how can you beat 2 hot dogs and a drink for $3.50?  Not only does it not hurt my wallet, but it doesn't hurt my tummy either.

With sauerkraut, ketchup and mustard... it makes for a great, quick late night (or any time for that matter) meal.

Five Guys Famous Burgers & Fries

Mmm.  Cajun Fries.

Went here for lunch one day.. I think after it just opened.  What a freaking mess!  So many people were in there, but the wait wasn't long.

There were barrels of peanuts about, free for the taking-- but I'm not one for eating stuff that open to the public.  However, what a cute idea since all there stuff is fried in peanut oil.

Good luck finding a clean table though, not only here but at any of the Five Guys in the Tri-State.  But be sure to order the cajun fries and get yourself some malt vinegar to dip those babies in!

The hamburger is a bit too much for me, so for the average person with an average appetite.. I'd say you're good with a little hamburger and top it with whatever you'd like!

Fuddruckers - CLOSED

I've been to a Fuddrucker's before, in California.  I probably shouldn't compare my experience at this particular one to my better one in Cali.  But whatever.

It was a friend's bday, and he decided to have a last minute thing here.  There were 20 plus people.  If we were at an applebee's or maybe a chili's I'd understand some complications-- but here you place your order yourself.  What's with the service?!

I ordered a meal and a milkshake.  My meal came out in a timely manner, but my milkshake?  Forget it-- took them almost an hour to get it to me.

Not only my milkshake, but about 4 other people ordered milkshakes and instead of coming at us in the order we placed them.. they came to us all effed up.  I was probably the 2nd to last person to get a milkshake, but the first to place an order.

Food wasn't so great either.  Not impressed.
