The Pool:
A really nice place to bring the kids for the day! The play structure and the zero entry pool are real highlights for people with little kids. They also have a ton of lifeguards that are VERY well trained, and on duty at all times.
Your child can't wear 'floaties' or a suit that's has floaties in it, but you can borrow/rent life vests for free.
From the website:
The Wackford Community and Aquatic Complex features a 25 meter by 25 yard competition lap pool, a zero-depth entry recreation pool with a 146 foot water slide and waterplay features, and a spray pool for children 6 and under. The competition pool is the home of high school swim teams and water polo teams, as well as the local recreational swim team.
The facility is open on weekends through September for recreational swim. Adult lap swimming and water aerobics classes are offered year-round in our competition pool to help keep people of all ages and swimming levels in shape.
The state-of-the art new complex is located in Laguna Community Park. Sitting on a 9-acre site the 43,000-square-foot community center features a gymnasium, community meeting room/ballroom, teen center, a kitchen for cooking classes and rooms where exercise, martial arts and other classes will be offered.
The teen center has a snack bar and computer lab. Black bar stools and tables, couches, a large screen TV, and pool and Foosball tables are also included. CSD officials said the Valley Oak Ballroom, which can hold about 200 people, offers a location for weddings, receptions, seminars and other events. A bridal room, complete with mirrors and chairs, is just down the hall. Outside amenities include the aquatics center featuring a competition lap pool, two recreation pools with water play features and water slides, and an outdoor concessions building.
A joint-use partnership with the Elk Grove Unified School District establishes the facility as a competition and practice venue for local student athletes and shows the benefits associated with a multi-agency collaboration on capital projects.

I also have gotten wool for felting up for different projects.
Not as cheap as some thrift stores, but a fun place to kick around. I love the mix of humanity that shops there. You can wander around and hear Russian, Spanish, English, Thai, you name it.
Good sales each day, 50% off different items. That's how I got my Huskylock Serger -- it was half off.
Great for kids, I can spend $5.00 on each child and they get their own bag of 'goodies' to bring home.
Closed Sundays, crazy on Saturdays.

The coffee is always on, they are happy to ball your yarn for free, and they even have a spot for kids to hang out in.
This is a fun, social shop where they love having customers come sit and knit or crochet with the owners and her friends. They have featured:
Mom and Baby every Tuesdays 11-1pm, Late Night every Wednesday Night 5-8pm, Felted Bag Knitalongs every Thursday 11-1pm, Knit and Nosh the First Friday of the month 5-8pm, and Community Knitting the Second Sunday of the month 12-4pm.
Need help on a project? They are super helpful.

I'm so glad they have someone there on Mondays and Sundays now. I am so sad when the little shops take those days off. I can't blame them, I know it's a lot to run but so many of us only have one day to zip in to get something.
This shop reminds me of a more homey version of the LA Knitting Boutiques like Wildfiber. But more kid friendly and down to earth.
