I can't believe it...this place has gone through a lot of owners. I think this one's a keeper! Very tasty sandwiches! Much more upscale (relatively speaking) than expected for the price & a coffee shop. Not to mention good coffee (that should be a given-although not always)

this used to be Cafe Du Louvre (see previous review). admittedly it's not nearly as insane as it was under the previous owner, but it also doesn't seem to have any charm. the walls are now baren and the seating doesn't feel as cozy. also, they ran out of bagels during our visit, luckily we got the last two.

it seems this place has a lot of potential, but it's just not there yet.

that said, we'll keep giving the place a chance just not on a regular basis.

Worldmark San Diego

it's definitely not as nice as some of the other worldmark properties, but it's also a lot closer to the actual town center than most other locations(except the san francisco one is in the heart of town). we just needed a place to stay for the weekend and didn't want to spend $200/night for a hotel in the gas lamp district. i think it's very comparable to nice hotels. the hotels have better location, linens and bigger tvs, but worldmark has free laundry, kitchenette, nice roof top and i've already paid for it (we had a lot of points to use).

one big downer - the people keep calling us and stopping by (three times in the last couple of hours) to try to give us "owner education". sometimes i don't want to be educated every time i come to a property. sometimes i just want to enjoy myself without my 'free gift for 45 minutes of selling'.

Pokez Mexican Restaurant

mexican that is carnivorous, vegetarian and vegan. a little schizophrenic, but it complements my wanna be vegetarian eating habits. i ordered a chili relleno, potato flauta, and tofu, mushroom and potato taco. it was all very tasty.

two notes:

1. no beer. boo! beer and mexican food go together like bert and ernie.

2. the flautas are HUGE!! putting that thing in my mouth took my mind to some dirty places...(not just about bert & ernie)

happy hour starts at 3pm!!! well drinks, draft beer and snacks are all around $5.

the food is good, but i usually end up spending over $20 for lunch. my wallet can't handle that for too long. i'd rather spend the $20 on drinks to drown my work day.

seemed like a basic local bar. the kind of place we'd go for drinks with the neighbors. nothing too spectacular. it didn't have a lot of the liquor we asked for. we stopped to watch sunday football and they had the network games, but not the nfl channel. you've been warned.

the staff is super friendly and talk smack with all the locals. it was good stuff. :)

p.s. they don't have food, but will call in orders to hot shots for delivery. don't order the fish & chips.
