Anniversary Inn At Kahn Mansion

Category: Hotels

4 star rating

Overall we had a great stay at the Anniversary Inn, although there were some quirks.

The process of booking the room went smoothly, although I would recommend to book a bit in advance. We waited too long, and didn't get the room we wanted - the whole hotel was booked! We ended up staying in the Savanna Nights room, which was ok.

One great thing about the Anniversary Inn is that they have the extras you can purchase (like flowers already in your room, chocolate covered-strawberries, etc) that make it really easy to make your stay special without having to run a bunch of errands.

We did have a bit of a hiccup - I had ordered dozen chocolate covered strawberries and only got 6. It wasn't a big deal though, because I didn't realize they provided cheesecake with the room! They quickly refunded the difference for the strawberries, and we were good to go.

One really odd thing about the room - there was no clock. No alarm, nothing. Never stayed anywhere that didn't have one!
Other than that it was a great stay. The decor was...interesting. But that's kind of the charm. :) The bed was very comfortable, the staff was great. I would have given it 5 stars, but there was one problem - it was too warm. It's an old house, so I understand that there is a thermostat that works for the whole house - but they could at least provide a fan! It would go a long way to make things more comfortable.

The Inn is a bit expensive, so it's really a luxury, but for a relaxing evening away (without really going anywhere) it's a great relaxing time.

Smashburger

I honestly don't know that I have ever eaten a better burger in my life. I was lucky enough to be invited to grand opening, where they brought out basically one of everything on the menu. I ate myself into a food-coma because everything I had was fantastic.
Of particular note was the Beehive burger, the Smashfries, and the Smashfries. Oh, did I say that one twice? That's because they were freaking amazing. The Baja burger was great - really spicy with a lot of flavor. Even the hot dogs were fabulous. They even brought out a plain burger with a fried egg on it, which was nothing short of heavenly.
All in all, it's a fantastic burger joint with a great menu. Even some Haagen Dazs milkshakes and IBC Root beer floats to wash it all down.
Highly recommended.

Every time I'm in the area to visit my family, we make a point to head down to Porto's for some Medianoches and Cubanos. Even my old Cuban grandmother gets one! Can't get more authentic than that. :)

Went in for lunch with a group of friends - atmosphere was good (although the music videos playing were circa 1989 - for better or worse). The service was good as well, and the chimichanga I ate was pretty good. My buddy ordered the chicken tacos though, and those were fantastic.

Dr. Bevan is a great dentist. You can tell that he has your best interests in mind when he makes recommendations, and he is skilled and efficient. His staff are great, and I've never had to wait more than like 10 minutes when I go in. Even though there are a ton of dentists closer, I drive like a half hour to go to him. Highly recommended.

I've eaten at this location a number of times, and it's fantastic. I almost always get the steak marsala, because it's one of the best flavored steaks around. Service is great, and I never have to wait too long. Love it.

May-Wa Chinese Restaurant

I visited this Chinese restaurant at the recommendation of a local, and was a little skeptical, considering there is only one other Chinese place for like 100 miles.
It was pretty darn good. One of the better Chinese restaurants I've eaten at, actually. Fairly inexpensive, and the food tasted great. I had the best egg-drop soup I've ever had, and was pretty happy with the rest of my meal.
They are never open during the holidays, which is a bit of a pain since that's the only time I'm in the area, but worth the visit if they are open.

I have had the opportunity of eating a number of really good steaks in my day, most of which were ridiculously expensive. The Texas Roadhouse does a pretty darn good job of making a good steak at a great price. The atmosphere was pretty good, but not really suitable for a large group (8+) which caused a bit of a headache. Will definitely stop by next time I'm in Pueblo.

If you actually find the place, by the look of it you wouldn't expect it to have the fantastic sandwiches it does. They use top quality meats, and the bread is fantastic. Atmosphere leaves a little something to be desired, but that's part of Musumeci's charm.

I tried a few items off the menu, which you kind of have to because the portions are not huge. The fish tacos were great.. everything else was meh. A bit overpriced if you ask me.
